Warhammer: 40,000 - Rogue Trader - CRPG by Owlcat games

The wolf can usually kill most mobs that aren't bosses with a single burst.

Yeah Argenta does it better tho. Which isn't really a surprise because soldier is better than warrior for heavy bolter spam.

Still only lightly skimming this thread as I'm super spoiler-averse, but just wanted to say I'm on Janus, I'm at the Rebel Camp and I fucking hate Eldar. It was a super close battle as it was and then they show up.

Yriel has enabled me to finally ditch Indira who I don't like. So now I can mostly have a party of characters I enjoy. Pascal has gone from a character that was my heaviest hitter to a not-quite liability. He always seems to be one of the first to go down. Cassia reminds me way too much of a girl I dated! Both the voice and the attitude.

Also, the way you can't rotate a zone when you're placing it is very annoying.

Speaking of wildfire on arch militant, someone confirmed something I noticed:

In a fight I activated wildfire along with firearm mastery (the soldier ultimate that gives you extra # of single attacks = to RoF) and sure enough, every single shot added versatility. Combine this with the Arch Militant ultimate upgrade that allows you to use both it and Firearm Mastery in a single combat and Argenta gets even more broken. Oh, be sure to grab the perk that gives you 10% increased crit chance per stack of versatility gained during that turn.

Yeah, woof boy ain't got nothing on the Sister.

That's odd. That's what I do with the Wolf and haven't respecced him. He came as a soldier/arch militant by default. And I gave him the Arch talent that lets him attack again for x-versatility which gets to 1-0 fast. So he makes 3 bursts per turn. I can screenshot it if you don't believe me.

And his helm gives him no friendly fire. But some maps get him stuck. So Argenta is more mobile, but lacks the no FF helm so I can't jam him behind melee and just shoot above Abelard and Heinrix's heads. Hope they got those fuzzy ear muffles...

Huh, I thought he was warrior (don't have him so don't know 1st hand).

Really no ff is a bit overrated because you can kill almost everything on turn 1. So you just start the battle with the soldier up front and start the extra turn spam. By the time it's melee time almost everything should be dead.

Though this is on normal mode. Just did the fight on the forge planet (chapter 2), and Cassia + Argenta killed both forge fiends, the main boss, and all but 1 of the fodder before any enemies or other team got to act.

*Edit* Did some reading. He's 2x2 spaces and gear restrictions? Yeah that's dumb.

Yeah, his bolter does 20-30 or if you get the better one 30-40 damage by base. If he gets his heroics on, he'll be doing 130 damage three or four times three times a turn. I just put Abelard and another mele in front of him and just let him bolter anything. Chapter 4 is such a mess. You can go into the chapter 3 starter ship and get locked. Lol.

He's using a normal bolter and not a heavy? Yeah, it's all about the RoF.

*Edit* Also was I supposed to dislike Calligos? Guy seems pretty alright and even gave me a pretty sick Eldar sniper rifle for shtting on Incendia's parade on Footfall.

So I attacked Malice with Abelard and Argenta in tow. I'll admit, at first I was like man, this might not be so great, guy has 300+hp and I don't have my usual gear. Just whatever i could scavenge )and whatever I could pull out of cargo).

Just a reminder to have faith. Argenta pulped him in 2 bursts with a heavy stubber. Then turned around and proceeded to mulch everything. The amount of damage per bullet the stubber was buffed up to by the last guy:

Yes, she got to 36 stacks of versatility on essentially her first round.

His astartes bolter deals 3 times the damage a heavy bolter does.

Arch Militant is just broken. Gave Argenta the Sanguiniusmas gift of respeccing her, and I got a heavy flamer priest with arch militant. The three of them are basically "kek turn 1 win" and the wolf managed to score 4 digit crits in a boss fight. Argenta is more mobile and ladders are a big problem for the Wooof. But the Woof is more resilient and can deal much higher melee damage. His high weapon skill lends well to cheesing the versatility and he usually gets 500+ bullshitting skill... I mean ballistic skill. I also found the self buffing Master Tactician to be the best of the "non combat" classes. The class gets stronger with deaths like Arch Militant and synergises well, and you can buff your shooters even more, or your own damage. An AOE weapon like a plasma gun makes it a really nasty combo. Another nasty combo is giving Enforcer Light boots to a melee character, as it attacks back after each parry. I'm mildly dissapointed that eldar lack a lot of gear and can't use human boots, but Heinrix does very well with it, wiping out blue horrors in groups.

Just got the marine but probably won't use. Idk, I just feel a space marine is way out of place. They should have buffed him more, but make him take up multiple party slots. The fact that a normal human can do as much damage is silly.

Anyways my opinion has changed on the sniper. It seems that I have unlocked her 1 shot ability with killing edge. She actually 1 shot the act 3 final boss who had like 800hp. Officially entered broken territory.

Respeced pascal after noticing some talents I missed. Notably get 1 ap back everytime he shoots a plasma weapon and stacking +plasma DMG after every use of plasma. That should synergize with the officer ultimate that grants extra turn with no atk limit. Which means pascal should be able to unload literally a full clip of plasma for free and only use the AP to reload. I expect this to also be broken.

Will probably increase difficulty if this gets too silly. Just started act 4.

As for the game, I outright killed the drukhari guy. Does this game really expect me to team up with dark eldar? No. Just no.

Jae finally left after telling her to screw off enough times. Will be killing her in subsequent playthroughs. Terrible character.

This game lets you be extremely nice to the Eldar. Like, wow. I am glad that it counter balances this by the rest of the crew wanting to lynch Yrliet at a moments notice and that only the idea of crossing you keeps their weapons stayed. I hope that keeps up if you romance her, won't know that this playthrough. It'd be too much if everyone else started chumming up too.

The marine does need a buff, but he is very useful. Especially if you couple him with the battle sister for twin bolter rape. He is somewhat good at blocking enemies from getting to your officers too. He isn't Abelard levels of tanky, but he can defend himself more in melee than the rest of your ranged characters. Or you can cheese it, and put him behind Abelard and Heinrix, with Cassia, Argenta and your pc behind him if there is only one way up, or if two, have the two men block one, and him the other, with the girls and your pc in the middle. If it is a one way battle you can just usually leave him and take one tank before him, and switch Heinrix or Abelard for Pascal.

Jae is basically great at skill tests but not so at combat. Considering how combative the game is, I feel like she would be more useful in a dnd party with more pacifist options and skill check bazed puzzles.

The dark eldar is fine, but Heinrix can do everything he can. The eldar sniper is basically a trope at this point for a rogue trader or inquisitor to carry around, I am surprised you don't have the option to put an explosive collar on that pair.

I meant in a purely gameplay perspective. He does what Heinrix does a bit better but without the psyker buffs.

Raids your capital, addresses you from your throne, and finally enslaves you.

Idk man, doing anything but killing/torturing then killing him seems kind of cucked.
Not to mention on the first warp jump he goes ahead and eviscerates a deck of your ship officers than after saving his ass demands to be able to hunt and torture on your lower deck.

Gave him the emperors peace through the temple. whilst yrilet acts like a superior faggot at least she has never killes any of my ships personnel.

Yeah he really doesn't offer anything you can't get out of the interrogator. His skillset are rather lacklustre. Space marine and Aldeblarb beats him in athletics, sister and wolf in demolition, eldar and jae in lore xenos which is funny. If you specced Heinrix heavily into psyker I guess he can fill that niche.

Personally haven't bothered with psykers since replacing idira since the beginning of act 2. Same with melee, Abelard fills the token melee spot (well and he's the hype man). Melee was pretty sweet for a little while, but shooting things got progressively more broken.

Calligos is follower of Khorne. So if you are RPing devoted imperial you probably should. On the other hand he invites you to hunt space elves with him . Which is highlight of that shitty jungle maze planet in act 4.
