Warhammer: 40,000 - Rogue Trader - CRPG by Owlcat games

Ship combat has poorly outlined progression but it's fun when you get some decent equipment and officer abilities.
Yeah, I wish there was a better..."feel" about where you're supposed to randomly go explore. My ship is only lvl 3 and the game will be like "Have fun with these Drukhari patrols that spawn new ships every other turn that get to act immediately".

Kind of turns into quick save before every battle, and just avoid the system when the battle is clearly not meant for me at that moment.

I just hit act 4 and holy shit it's like I took the express train to bug town. I had very little issue all the way though Ch 3, but as soon as Ch 4 starts, it goes crazy.

Nothing game breaking, but every time I return to my ship, the catch up of what happened while I was gone from two of my officers triggers again. Then after spaming through the dialogue boxes, my RT doesn't stand up and instead flies in a sitting position through their quarters and the bridge.

Also, 3/4 of the time warping works fine, but occasionally I enter my current system instead of going to the one I've selected.

Oh, and non planet space encounters don't clear off the map, but I can't retrigger them.

Still like it, hasn't ruined my experience yet, but it's a very sudden, night and day shift.

Enemy ships in Act 5 are so absurdly overpowered that even with a maxed out ship doing anything other than spamming torpedoes while running away is suicide.
Turns out that was an oversight and their damage was FOUR FUCKING TIMES higher than intended.

The former. Since then I finally have an ultimate ability and an escort ship. Still trying to get my way up to even the first rep rank with the Navy to get some gear.

Stingy bastards.

It's really hard to pull off starting out. I didn't do this in my playthough but I think your best bet is to find colony upgrades that give +RP with the navy and go that route. In fact I think that's probably the best strat for all equipment brokers because the colonies grow super fast. Haven't tested it though.

yeah best bet is to go for colony improvements that award navy rep since the stingy bastards will only take cargo you recieve from spess battles. There isnt really a reliable way to farm spess battles other than jumping back and forth hoping for a drukhari raid event on your colonies which can be pretty rare and the battle themselves are a pain in the ass if your not kitted

So yeah, Argenta has firmly replaced Abelard as my Terminator. Lvl 27 and smacking down Drukhari, doing like 120 dmg a hit, with a standard heavy bolter on rapid fire mode. Oh, found a wonderful headpiece that gives ranged attacks +(2xRoF) % dmg.

For the Emperor, indeed.

How did you get 300 ballistic skill?
Versatility stacking is OP.

*Edit* Just completed the drukhari raid on the palace, and the poor SOBs almost didn't get a turn (a single dude got to move).

Battle started. MC and Cassia used their free leader turn to both give Argenta an extra turn. She chunked both of the chimeras that spawn behind you. Then that gave enough momentum for them to give her even more free turns. Combine that with all the attack restoring abilities she gets with arch militant + the ultimate ability that gives a free attack every turn and before you know it, she has 20-30+ stacks of versatility.

By that time the heavy bolter is criting every hit. Nobody else in the party comes close to this level of cheese.

Ah, I got Bkunty Hunter on her, and arch militant on the Woof.

I misread versatility for having to use different weapons, even though for the Woof it seems to work with just his bolter and the helmet of no friendly fire.

Yeah I have pascal as a bounty hunter and...I'm not impressed. Arch Militant seems to blow it away. Same with the eldar sniper being an Assassin.

It's cool though. Nobody feels like a detriment when Argenta is doing 80% of the killing.

Yeah since I mistook the debuff not applying unless you range and melee, which it doesn't need, its only on the wolf and he gets really nasty.

Coupled with the helm that makes no friendly fire, he can just burst fire into anything and deal more damage than any 3 characters. I wonder if I should respec Argenta and Pascal to Arch too.

So does it apply when you use 2 different ranged weapons? Because thats how ive been applying it

Yeah bounty hunter is one of them stack a billion buff/debuff classes. Since all the abilities have extra effects based on prey and you get 3 charges if you go bounty hunter on 2-3 of your other characters you have enough charges to mark every single target in combat as prey and pop raid.

Assassain seems to be a high alpha/mobility/crippling class as assassain angles change when you pop them (though you get a perk that adds an angle facing for your assassain once a turn). Death whisper is a permableed that deals 10/lethality a turn to a target so you can stack it with your other DOTs such as bleed, toxic, fire, warpfire.

They also have a long dash ability that makes attacks of opportunity reduced damage. However stacked with keep your distance (enemies adjacent make check or fall prone). You can skip a lot of enemy turns, theres also a handy ability called feint that your shot deals fuckall damage but the enemy is forced out of cover onto an open square.

But I do admit that arch militant is just a way more straight forward damage dealer class thats very effective.

On the officer side I find myself favouring master tactician over grand strategist as the zone bonuses didnt really sound that great and the most utility I got from it was the one that alliwed allies to move to a zone from anywhere for 0 mp. However master tactician absolutely stacks their class perk from momentum which you have the right setup and sister argentas momentum boist you can do some crazy shit

Yeah I didn't need to alternate. Bolter goes woof.
combos nicely with the warrior passive that increases crit damage by 1% for every instance of damage
needless to say argenta managed to get that motherfucker up to 26% in one turn from full auto overpenetration into a group of dudes
then you have enough versatility to go into confident approach and crit full damage on every single hit
