Either really. Bad is the typical English pronunciation. But his name is kike word so I guess it's pronounced however the small hats would, technically.
Obviously I'm not impartial but I like them. I think they were necessary. The setting of 40K would not make sense anymore if it were not a permanent stalemate and one faction became clearly victorious but that doesn't mean nothing ever happens in that stalemate. Tyranids learn more every time they chow down on biomass; the T'au are moving ahead by leaps and bounds; Necrons are waking up and crankily ordering intruders off their lawns. Clearly the Imperium has to do something. The objection I've often seen is that part of the real life inspiration for the setting is medieval Europe which was (allegedly) completely stagnant and backwards so the Imperium and in particular the Mechanicus has to be that way too. The characterization of the medieval period is not true. People often think about the Golden Age of Islam, and they're not wrong to do so, but one can also look at medieval Christendom (i.e. part of the inspiration for the Mechanicus):

I wish we could get a Space Marine style shooter where we play as an Iron Hand and the progression system is just us becoming depressed and self-conscious looking in a mirror and continuously chopping off more and more body parts to be replaced with tech.

The Imperium has to advance to survive (beyond hoping to find STCs somewhere) and that would make sense even in the context of one of the real life inspirations for the Imperium and Mechanicus being medieval Europe / Christendom. My post may seem a little weird but this is exactly the sort of thing Cawl would sperg about.
 
Obviously I'm not impartial but I like them. I think they were necessary.
I like the idea of Primaris and the Imperium finally upgrading their weapons. I don't like how some metal fucker who didn't exist suddenl pops up, is the most important Mechanicus guy with no build up, sees Cadia blow up and then goes to his magical technological techno sorcery holdout and just shit out new weapons, new armor, and space marine mark II's

You could have still done all of this by discovering a treasure trove of STC templates and probably could have told a great treasure hunt story in the process. Wasted potential.

That is a good point but up to that point I think the most inventive well-known Techpriest was Arkhan Land and he went MIA (very possibly dead) on an Indiana Jones expedition into the Librarius Omnis

If only they had a series with like 500 filler books instead of getting the point (Horus Heresy). If only there was a series that took almost twice longer to finish than the actual event (Horus Heresy). If only they didn't retroactively add him to that said series, instead of doing that first (Horus Heresy).


I know I'm being a cunt about it. It's just that execution always bothers me and a dumbass friend who constantly tried lying or confusing his headcanon with actual canon to try belittling me disliking the sudden Cawlification of the Imperium.
 
So it's like a 50/50, with the only difficult models to paint being the old Warhammer fantasy ones they moved over. I'm constantly surprised with how well designed aos kits are for painting.

My wife paints DoK, and most of the models have pretty clean transitions between materials, not requiring tons of blending or anything. Just don't glue them to a base before you're done painting and you'll be fine. Also, do the skin first
From what I've read, DoK got a lot of those older models but the whole range is genuinely beautiful.

Its financial suicide to buy more than 1 AoS army but maaaan they really let the creatives go wild with AoS. If GW dropped prices I'd probably just buy whatever looks good and thats models across just about ever faction.

It looks like a true sequel to DoW1.
I'm not sure how they managed to get synced fighting to work. Historical Total War had synced fighting, but it was all with same sized infantrymen. For TWW, they stopped having it because everything had different heights and reaches.
I'm not gonna preorder, but I'm optimistic I'll buy it first week.

This is one of the more straight to the point summaries I've seen. I'm not a fan of the DoW2 style army abilities. There are other RTS games that have these global nukes and they always fall into two categories. They're either useless and can be safely ignored, or they're so OP that it becomes a free win button. There's nothing more frustrating than trying to make a come back, but your opponent is able to delete your whole army since he can afford to save up all his points for the big nukes, and there isn't any counter to it.

Already this is looking like a sequel to DoW 2 rather than DoW 1. I don't see any similarities to the first game at all. It has the leveling heroes and units from 2 and a GTFO button which incentivizes running away to preserve your units rather and only taking low risk engagements. It copies the DoW 2 style of resource generation where power is no longer a generator you can build but a resource point you have to go out and take. This hard caps your power generation to what's on the map and can't be expanded by dropping an extra base if you can afford it.

It appears that base building will be surface level at best. Another video said the Space Marines have no builders, that you call buildings in wherever and they auto build. This means there is no risk to plopping down buildings. Your opponent is forced to either bring building killers all over the map, or allow you to drop forward bases for free. Necrons and Ad Mech will apparently play like Zerg and you'll need to place your goo over the map to expand where you can build.

The good news seems to be that armies might have more unique mechanics than what we might have seen previously? I guess we'll see. The melee looks really nice. Apparently they have this complex animation system to change up the melee animation depending on what you're fighting, rather than swinging in the air until you actually get a sync kill. There doesn't seem to be weapon facings. Apparently right clicking is some sort of smart attack order that tells your army to intelligently attack targets in the selected area. I guess it's meant to be better than attack move the whole blob and hope your units chew through the right target. I hate weapon facing, it's too much micro. I want less micro across the game where where possible. Which is also why I hated the cover system in DoW 1 and 2. 2 was the worst because trying to get your models to use the correct pieces of cover was a nightmare, and then try to get them to face the correct way was too much. DoW1 at least it was just a big area on the ground and as long as you were standing on it you were good. It seems like cover will now be more intentional? Like maybe you click to enter and the unit just snaps into it correctly like entering a building. You'd still be able to use cover but less fucking around making sure everyone was standing exactly where they needed to.
