Warhammer 40k

New Archmagos and Histarii. Didnt see anyone else post them so hit me with clocks if someone did. The archmagos looks sick as fuck, genuinely up there with how an archmagos should look. Tbh I think I like him better than Cawl, or at least Cawl should've been as big as this guy seems to be. The histarii also look pretty good, very solid design if a touch chicken legged. They almost look like necron Immortals.

You're missing the point that this new AdMech character Thulia Ghuld is a lady, coincidental with a current topic. Has the butt to show it.

Also funny that GW considers this abomination of flesh and mostly machine to definitely be a chick, but the new Eldar Corsair character is a mysterious "they" thanks to wearing an enclosed helmet, despite clearly having boobs.

Ghuld is a big shot from the Ordo Reductor, the AdMech division specializing in big guns and blowing shit up. Cawl doesn't like her because she's too obsessed with destroying enemies. Ghuld doesn't like Cawl because he's not obsessed with destroying enemies enough. I like this dynamic, sounding similar to Trazyn and Orikan from The Infinite and The Divine. I suspect it's likely that Ghuld will appear in future novels as a foil to Cawl, and I look forward to them bickering like an old married couple.

The heavy Skitarii are alright, certainly an improvement from all the DaVinci shit the AdMech got in their second wave. But unfortunately it's impossible not to compare them to the superior new Myrmidons the 30k Mechanicum are getting now.

You're not thinking like a woke intersectional marxist performing Maoist entryism on the hobby. (i.e., "All institutions must be retooled to serve the revolution or burned to the bedrock so the enemies of progress can never use them again.")

"They" means the new Eldar Corsair is "nonbinary," a favored made up thing on the woke left.

They just haven't had a chance to reveal it epically in some novella to own the chuds so their friends on /tg/ and /r/sigmarxism and x can smugly post it and try and rub their colonization of the hobby in the 40k community's faces. "Warhammer is for Everyone but that really means it's NOT FOR YOU, Chud!"

Like this post when the FemStodes thing was crashing into the community.

Best case scenario will be it'll be some halfassed storyline about how some soul gem was used on successive people of either gender until the resultant persona no longer had a gender, or how "The Captain is an Idea, and Ideas are Genderless." Worst case will be us getting some lecture in how the race of aliens who literally raped children to death until a god of rape fucked a hole in reality visible from across the galaxy and destroyed 99% of the entire Alien race in the process is TOTALLY PROGRESSIVE AND AGREES WITH CALIFORNIA POLITICS, CHUD.

With Grimdark Narrator becoming a victim of JeetTube, does anyone know a good place to find Warhammer/Warhammer 40K audiobooks? Specifically looking to get into Gotrek and Felix.

Omnisiah wills it she isn't going to be insufferable in the next Cawl book where she inevitably appears.

I wonder why they didn't just bring over one of the Mechanicus game characters, especially with the sequel coming up. Videx or one of the skittles would be perfect.

That would be cool(I would take them as a kill team even). But I think it's because most of the characters from Mechanicus are humanoid in shape, the largest of them being Terminator sized. The look for these ancient arch-magos characters they want is monstrous and inhuman. Showing off just how far the admech are willing to take things, and stray from the human form.

I'm pretty sure that all the arch-magos are either part human/part AI or are full blown AI that slowly took over the body of its host as the host's body died. Also I see the straying away from their humanoid forms in a similar way to the destroyer cults of the necrons. With how much the lore has been changed I wonder if that's intentional.

I don't know. The personality merging thing is something only Cawl does and only becouse he's such a massive egoist that ego death is basically impossible for him. But many of them udergo what's basically lobotomy to become more "logical" so they often come off as sociopaths/machine like.

What's definetly intentional is cultural cross-polination with the necrons. There's a reson why every time the admech shows up in anything they are usually fucking around with necron toombs, it feels like they've basically abandoned the quest for knowledge/STC's and are instead rumaging around Tarzyns junk drawer.

I got the main Horus Heresy audiobooks from 4chan a long time ago, but all other Black Library audiobooks I've wanted to get I've been able to find in torrents cataloged in Audiobookbay, I also tend to grab the corresponding ebook for reference, especially if they have a dramatis personae (listed cast of characters).

["nonbinary" shit]
Oh don't get me wrong, of course I understand the ulterior motive going on with "they" characters like Kharseth. I'm just amused by how games have no choice but to peddle the fake "nonbinary" trait through characters that at least have some measure of gender ambiguity to justify calling them singular "they" because it's too blatantly ridiculous to players when it's done with normal female characters like "Sundance" in Battlefield 2042. But even such ambiguous "they" characters are still gendered when put under even a little scrutiny. Bloodhound from Apex Legends is concealed from head to toe, but has a female voice actress using a female voice that's just disguised under a thick, unusual accent. FL4K from Borderlands 3 is a faceless robot, but he's given a burly appearance with the deep masculine voice of ProZD, and robots in Borderlands are gendered on a general basis (see talking box Claptrap). Kris from Deltarune has all the trappings of an antisocial teenage boy and is heavily suggested to be a distinct, autonomous character who is not the player of either gender. The only "they" character I can think of who I believe is genuinely intended to be gender-ambiguous without ulterior motive is Frisk from Undertale, preceding all of these other examples by many years.

I wonder why they didn't just bring over one of the Mechanicus game characters, especially with the sequel coming up. Videx or one of the skittles would be perfect.
GW is simply averse to importing characters created by other companies. Titus is just a very special exception that took fifteen years to import. Sure, there was that one time a Forge World resin model was made for Chapter Master Gabriel Angelos, but the Blood Ravens are treated to this day by GW proper as an obscure, tertiary Space Marine chapter.

I don't want AdMech to have humans turned to AI. The whole main point of interest about them is that there's always some human component at the core of whatever mechanical monstrosity they turn themselves into, and AI already have their own interesting thing going on as self-interested "Abominable Intelligence", popping up as characters of their own every now an then.

Ive been looking at AoS models more recently and they have hands down the best looking models across all GWs ranges.

Is there any reason the 40k team dont get creative? Xenos have the most room to play with but they...dont?

i didnt spot an AoS thread and fuck me they are just beautiful and incredibly varied
If eldar/drukhari/harlequins don't look like they did 30 years ago, retards who likely haven't touched a model in 20 years would throw a fucking tantrum.

There's been complaining about orks not looking like they used to over the years, the faces, or even their asses. I wish I were kidding.

GSC and nids are kind of whatever, most of the tyranid model range from the past 20 years looks fine if you're into that, the genestealers themselves got an update and still look like genestealers.

Necrons are skeletons, if they don't look like skeletons then they don't look like necrons... but they've been doing more with destroyers and crypteks lately but at the end of the day it still needs to look like necrons.

Tau largely gets ignored by the people who would screech about shit because those same people still claim tau are "too new", but they could actually add more tau client species and do interesting shit but they don't seem to want to.

Votann was a fucking design failure across the board trying to go with that trendy "nasapunk" bullshit, but they're also technically humans(although they're actually inbred autistic weirdos) so they can't go too crazy with the designs of the votann themselves but they could have at least made the armor and vehicles more interesting.

Eldar and orks could probably have some of the craziest shit, but like I said people would bitch and complain about it. AoS doesn't have the legacy "fans" that 40k has so as a result they actually get to do interesting shit without the screeching of idiots. Don't believe me? Look what happens whenever a space marine appears slightly different and the retards who don't paint/play/read come out of the fucking woodwork to complain about either too much detail, not enough detail, monopose models as if the 90s tac squad with it's ball joints was super poseable with one gun tilted up slightly compared to the other guy's gun, people refuse to kitbash shit or build a model and just cut a fucking joint to re-pose something, on and on.

The new Striking Scorpions was a great chance to go crazy but they went with the tamest, stiffest stances possible, and these guys have written lore about how acrobatically exotic their combat doctrines are. I doubt GW is worried about "pissing off" anyone at this point, I think they just didn't care for the craftworlders getting anything too exotic, or alien, ironically. This is the same stuff that has been happening for years on the primaris front, and the tacticallyzation of chapters.

AoS sculptors/designers seem like they actually get time to design stuff, so they go hard. The new Fantasy models look amazing too despite the the rank limitations. 40k, outside most character models and the Chaos minis, feel like they're rushed to pump them out nowadays. Kill Team minis get time to breathe because they start there before being brought over to the mainline game, so they get a chance to make them stand out.

Then there's Necromunda. More simplified than AoS, but easily the second best line for GW on the design front. Each gang is distinct from each other and give you an idea what they do on the planet barring Escher (they don't look like the chemicals/pharmaceuticals faction, but certainly play like it). Plus they have rats with bombs strapped to them as a playable model.

Kill team defs get better models than the base game as you said. Its just AoS shits on 40k for the designs.

Most of the death alliance is hit after hit. They have trees. Cities has a lot of detail and creativity. Dinosaurs.

40k feels so...safe.

It's my retarded speculation, but given how hardcore they are pushing Titus everywhere, it's because they plan to have the Amazon show be centered around him and being played by Henry Cavil.

Otherwise I don't get why this (ultra) boring and bland Character is pushed so unorganicaly to be the front man of 40k. You also don't need much acting skills for Titus, so it would be a perfect fit.

female literal who character and instantly gets a model.
Ok I can at least understand why a female commisar could get a model, plenty of ladies in the Guard. But (honestly asking) what was the point of Lotara Sarron getting a mini? I'm assuming she has to be deployed with World Eaters, what could she possibly add to your army?

It's a resin Heresy sculpt that's probably intended more as a display piece than to see any gameplay, targeted at people who want their favourite girlboss from their favourite books (and Lotara does seem to have something of a fanbase; she doesn't seem like an outright worse choice than some of the more literal who Black Library tie-ins).

32 fucking k. Depression isn't actually caused by any sort of chemical imbalance so they're literally gonna pay thousands of dollars to get high in a clinic room and call it therapy. So cool
Unironically they need to change diets to keto. That shit saves lives and souls

Everyone loved shitting on AOS because of how badly they botched the passing of the torch between WHFB and AOS, but the reality is that AOS has a way larger design space they can use to bring new cool concepts to miniatures without having to deal with a bunch of grognards flipping their lids because in 1985 white dwarf said it wasn't so.

I do not enjoy the AOS universe that much by itself, but the miniatures are really amazing. The centerpiece models are always great.

Being honest, most Admech fans I see would likely get pissed at the priest still being considered a chick, as you see them bitching on any fanart of female tech priests having anything feminine left and/or spamming them "they are funny non binary people, they cant be male or female"

Now for the Eldar, yeah, it is weird, even their whole thing with male Banshees is that they took on a female identity, that isnt going "they are non binary" and more "their mind is changed for their job"
