Warhammer 40k

40k just doesn't need live action. It lives best on the tabletop and in books. Whatever is on screen is going to disappoint, either be too much or too little and feel dissatisfied. Worse is that it'll make 40k more welcome to a wider audience. It's bad enough we lost gatekeeping because of Wikipedia making obscure stuff accessible, but by the Emperor I can't image how terrible the waves of new fans will be after this. Also is he doing Horus Heresy or sticking with 40k? HH would be a disaster. 40k I hope he just runs some TTRPG game story he had instead of a full deep dive into established books.
HH is too long a tale, even when focussing on the major major plot points. I could see a somewhat bare bones (skipping many books) series being made, but not for a long time.

Its going to be played safe. No big campaigns, no main characters etc. Will probably be an Inquisitor in the background of something so whatever the show does, doesnt impact the lore too much. If youve ever read Infinite and Divine, its probably going a similar route where Necron names of shit are thrown at you but with context clues you can figure it out.

Gives the audience a taste of the 40k universe. I will be very surprised if they used major characters and stories.

It's always fun seeing autists reacting to the new 40k IW drops, complaining about how it just "doesn't look right" to see IW schemes on Chaos trim.

I'm glad that GW went out of their way to give these people non-horned helmets and shoulder pads with less points/trim in the upgrade sprue only for them to bitch and whine regardless because mild chaos is too much chaos for the flesh farm breeding pit faction.

Reminds me of fire warrior lmao. You'd think with that as the name that book would be focused on the Tau, but it was actually about a Confederate themed guard regiment (I doubt GW would even dare touch that idea now) that just so happened to fight some tau on an (unbeknownst to them) nurgle death world.
Fire Caste by Pete Fehervari. Fucking sweet Apocalypse Now riverboat vibe.

This is part of a personal project of mine, recreating my first Kill Team using the original kit. I present, for your viewing pleasure, Watch Sergeant Zaphriel Baal of Watch Statiom Enoch. what are some good channels for warhammer lore that are not woke ?
That one Italian dude is pretty good if you don't mind the accent. Goes by The Pontius. Only lore tuber I've seen leave a full list of sources, and dives into stuff fully and completely. Also shits on a lot of other loretubers for being retarded grifters that don't actually care about the material or have political motivations.

just listen to an audiobook man. Most of em are pretty good. Google "X faction reading list" and you'll be good to go. Audible is pretty good. You get a free book a month with your subscription and most of them are there.

I know, I'm a funny man. It works when you think about it as Baal is connected to Beelzebub; It's also important that Baal translates to Lord, so Baal Zebab is to give honor to the ancient god Zebab, sort of how we call God, God, instead of YHWH. Zaphriel was received from the name chart in the Deathwatch RPG book.

He's a retarded grifter that gets his paypigs to clap when he yells about shit that youtube channels supposedly get wrong. The only problem with this is that he's gotten shit wrong himself on these livestreams that his co-hosts have had to call him out on, and he doesn't even stick to criticizing lore channels. He'll bitch about painting channels. He's a faggot.

Seriously, they're all run by faggots.

This. There's plenty of sources without even needing audible if you just dig around on google for a moment. Fucking audiobookbay exists. Get some audiobooks if you want to be able to get your lore while multitasking, you don't need some faggot on youtube doing a 3 hour summary of a 10 hour audiobook.

Tried Darktide for the first time today. Might be just the right kind of stuff for turning the brain off and killing shit with friends. I couldn't get into Vermintide even though it's very similar, this is more up my alley.

The only W40k game I ever properly played and liked was an ancient Amiga game called Space Crusade, so it's nice to dabble again. I do own Mechanicus and Inquisitor, got them from some sale but haven't tried them yet. I'm kind of hoping to get into these games because if I do, I'm never running out of games to play, there are so dam many of them.

Stellaris was my best 40k gaming experience.

I’ve said it before but me being sworn in as Warmaster of my alliance (multiplayer game) and then unsealing the Javorian Pox and going apeshit was still one of my favorite gaming memories of all time.

“Bro what did fuck?! I’m getting ‘world destroyed’ messages.”

I was Mortarion-maxxing and was given war duties for the rest of the run, my friends basically said “don’t kill these guys” and let me turn most of the galaxy into a poisonous nightmare. It was a peaceful experience after the work was done, when a new race was discovered, I made pitiful war goals, then unleashed eradication and death squads (at the same time) and destroyed the homeworld, then tore apart the lesser worlds.

I can see why Mortarion does that to people, it is satisfying.

I want to be optimistic about the 40k series, but i have no hope that a live action serialized thing will be able to portray the best aspects of 40k simply by a matter of scale.

Besides shitty performance and actually horrendous cosmetic shop, Darktide is pretty great. They really managed to capture the feeling of the weapons and the bolter is my absolute favourite, they really nailed the shooting a portable canon sounds.

Are you actually trying to learn shit or just want something playing in the background?

This is all for the latter, stuff I sleep to:

Imperial Iterator (AI voice reading wiki for the most part) or Kylo (AI voice but original writing).

For stories/fiction there's Grimhammer which seems to be original human written fiction, again AI narration. Haven't listened since he got demonetized and returned.

A Vox in the Void is all human, original stories.

Avoid Voidborne Terrors and Grimdark Shards, they're 100% written and narrated by AI.

You will need to do the good old "seperate art from artist" there.

Personally, I found Arbitor Ian's older Introduction videos and the ones about the SM Legions quite good. He is a massive cunt though and I wouldn't recommend watching anything of his opinion pieces. So you would be done quite fast with that channel. Just click on the right playlist.

Oculus Imperia does the same, but more in a LARPy way. I prefer his older videos, where it was more straight to the point, but also summarising way more lore. His new ones go on forever, dude fell in love hearing himself talking and it is exhausting listening to his endless meandering now. Don't know how far on a fag scale he is, but he has linked some of those channels on his channel page.

Right now I found Only War, but have only watched some WH Fantasy videos, don't know about his 40k stuff. Don't know anything else about him.

Someone recommended Pontious, but I don't know how anyone can sit there and listen to that played up accent (reminds me of those American "Italians" making videos, thinking they fit in some other culture, because their "nona" makes spaghetti with tomatoe sauce instead of ketchup). He is also an insufferable cunt thinking he is thee loremaster of WH and tried to stir up drama for clicks, like p1138 said.

Besides that, I can recommend reading through the Lexicanicum website.

Reading the books or wikis yourself, since the best lore channels just read straight from them anyway. That's assuming you want to actually learn and not just have some background noise.
If you want background noise?

Luetin is always there.

I personally like Scholar's Lore, it's an AI David Attenborough narrator but the scripts are written by a human and they're pretty good. Gheistos Cataclysm is a video of his I recommend.

Darktide and Deathwing have my absolute favorite bolter sounds. So fuckin meaty.

Now THIS is autism I can get behind.
