Yes, though it flew under the radar of most people, it was pointed out during the dawn of the animation IP controversy that there's effectively just as much room in the guidelines for GW to go after static artists too. If there's some 40k fanart getting circulated, it's practically guaranteed that the originating artist at least has some sort of crowdfunding account:

You know what we missed in that IP guidelines?

GW's new rules bans any artist that uses Patreon from doing 40k art.

It bans any artists taking commissions to draw GW fanart.

It bans any webcomic that has ads on the site or a Patreon.

GW's new rules ban Bolter to Kokoro, of all fucking things.

Edit: Looks like the artists that do 40k commissions are noticing:

Some Battletech fans appear to be getting nervous regarding an influx of former 40K players. Honestly I can’t blame them and even a couple mentions of needing to gatekeep the system

I’ve been looking at alternatives for a while and I really liked frostgrave but nobody really played it in my area. There’s a couple more like this in the comments section but the tldr of video is don’t worry Battletech will be fine.

At this point I feel this entire exodus thing is like how liberals flee California to come to red states but still maintain their liberal ways to ruin the state they escaped to. Battletech has ALREADY had a run in with Sigmarxism throwing a shitfit over some Battletech guy unknowingly talking with Arch. You have some clueless Battletech guys going "Wow it is now our time to kill GW lets allow all the masses in!" this will fuck you over hard.

My 2 cents is purge all lorefags tell them to buy a miniature or 3D print get them to do fucking something heck force them to play an old Mechwarrior game. The most vocal of the people of 3D printing or saying to stop playing GW games dont even play table top.

Anyway check out this shit these would go great with a Veteran Squad right?

Battletech is lame as fuck tho. About as flavourful as bare noodles boiled in water without salt. It may have been revolutionary in its time, but it is as genetic as you can get.

The many kickstarter copycats are at least 40k like, but I don't get the big battletech push. It is nothing like Warhammer at all. May as well go bolt action if you want to tabletop game. If I wanted mecha action, anime blows battletech out of the water six gorillion types.

Hm artwork not respectful to GW values... maybe we should start drawing the Chaos God of Niggers, Shlomo Shekelberg.

Warhammer 40k fans should bring back Jovian. It's a dead system. That way they don't bring any of the typical "fan" faggotry into Battletech. Bad enough the game has had some terrible games made in the past decade. We don't need bad miniatures made because new Warhammer 40K fans don't like metal minis.

Pretty sure the amount of paper work you have to do will put off a lot of players that just want to roll some dice.

New Terms of Service for 40k events bans cosplay that might offend Soy-Americans:

So no Imperial Guard and no Space Marines. Triggering, don't ya know?
Another reason to not bother with official GW events. Probably wouldn't even get a prize for best cosplay anyways that was worth a damn.

That being said. Reading up on the new Tournament rules.
You need permission to modify your units.
You need permission to use a non official colour scheme.
Using rules that don't match your colour scheme (ie Blue Salamanders) you need permission.
If you're an exceptional good boy you may get a sticker.
Games are also only 90 minutes long. Back in the day they were two and a half. While you get an extra day for the tournaments nowadays (before you had the third day for the final 8 finalists), you don't get very many options for scenarios.

I also remember that back in the day your army was also scored on how well it was painted. Today, just make sure it's Battle ready. WYSIWYG rules are similar though, minus the rules on kitbashing and paint jobs. Back in the day kitbashing and bringing in non official colour models was fine.

Creativity is dead and GW killed it.
There was a bunch of rumors recently on /tg/ and the leaker said they are changing Australian logistics to make minies cheaper. Also nobody cares about boycotts.
I don’t believe that one for a second.

Go to your local tabletop store to play games (if you don't have mythological entities called "friends"), folks.

Or find a wargaming club if your area is large enough for it. We had a great one in town before people started to flee the province for work. Now we have two gaming stores that have a good selection of stuff. One is owned by SJW's and not a good place to paly anything (last time I was there that had two tables for MtG), and another one which is mostly tables (like 12 tables to play various games and even do Warhammer tournaments) and owned by some decent people and probably the best place to get a selection of paints.

Progress continues with my Blood Ravens. Custom Captain on Bike, Hellblaster squad, and Suppressor squad.
