Battletech is lame as fuck tho. About as flavourful as bare noodles boiled in water without salt. It may have been revolutionary in its time, but it is as genetic as you can get.

The many kickstarter copycats are at least 40k like, but I don't get the big battletech push. It is nothing like Warhammer at all. May as well go bolt action if you want to tabletop game. If I wanted mecha action, anime blows battletech out of the water six gorillion types.

Hm artwork not respectful to GW values... maybe we should start drawing the Chaos God of Niggers, Shlomo Shekelberg.
because its another Grim Dark setting but replace people getting fucked by the Space Zealotry/Facism with Capitalism and you get Battletech.

Depending on the era, Battletech isn't Grimdark. Closest you get is Battletech Dark Ages

You mean to tell me ComStar aren't space zealots? :O

Anyone have any problems with watching Ol Bale Eye?

Story was ok, playback was constantly de-syncing the audio and probably GW think this will be acceptable for a subscription model.

Random interjection in an otherwise nice and informative discussion but my local shop just closed down and I am upset and none of my irl friends understand me being upset by warhammer40k stuff because they all have shit taste in hobbies. Carry on.

The first Hammer and Bolter episode seemed pretty alright. It was more entertaining than I thought it'd be. Minor grips with the animation aside Ghazghkull lacking upper teeth made him look strangely grandpa-like, rather hard to take seriously at times.

While it was tolerable enough to watch through, I found the Hammer and Bolter episode to be underwhelming, a poor show for what is meant to be demonstration of Warhammer+'s quality. Most apparent is the poor animation that gave it more the appearance of a motion comic than what (I imagine) you might see on TV or even Netflix. And then there was the one second of CG Marines that stuck out like a sore thumb. Ghazghkull was CG too, but it was less noticeable as he didn't move much. The two runty Orks looked especially strange, and though I later realized how much they resemble the earliest of Ork models and artwork, I don't believe such an artistic callback to be worthwhile.

Using the Orks themselves as narrative framing is a clever way to impart a simple story that amounts to a lot of screaming and battle poses, but I hope that further episodes have more substance to their stories and aren't just summaries of lore we've already known. A previous preview article at least shows the other episodes as having different artstyles, which could mean that they're better animated too.

I got some berserk 97 flashbacks with the still images of people charging into battle but overall it was good. Voice acting was on point and the look of the show is appealing up until you see someone move on screen

If you're a fan of warhammer 40k and / or Orks (particularly wacky funny Orks) then it was fine. They're clearly not breaking the bank on this though. If you're completely new to 40K then this was a poor introduction, but benefit of the doubt maybe Warhammer+ really isn't intended to draw in a wider audience but is just suppose to be a bit of extra for the current fanbase. Maybe if every episode is going to be a different story, then maybe their going for more a promo than a intro with a "look at all these different things in 40K".

I rate this episode notgrimdark/10. GW is launching their own lore videos, this is why I think lore channels are next on the chopping block. GW will sanitize the shit out of the lore, it's all technically still there but we won't mention it anywhere.

It has a completely different dynamic. Battletech has dark moments like Kentares Massacre, but they hit differently than any other massacres in Warhammer. And Warhammer doesn't have kino moments like the Battle of Misery

Most people who think a setting is grimdarrk don't usually know what makes a setting grimdark. It's like the people who add "punk" to every word to make up a new genre.

And yes, lore channels are next if they use official WH40K artwork. after that it's the battle reports because they're using WH40k miniatures. There's a reason why GW is switching to kits that have next to or no pose ability.

Not to toot my own horn but i’ve done a pretty good job layering these Aquila (there’s six more but they look exactly like these).
