Any 3rd party proxies anyone has been interested in? Managed to get a Gideon tank from Mad Robot Miniatures before they stopped making the kit, shame about that.

If you play Chaos, I can't recommend Reaper Miniatures enough for all your Chaos Spawn needs. I use their Faceless Horror for my Nurgle spawn, as well as a metal Vulture Demon with a sword that makes for a much better Daemon Prince of Tzeentch than the official generic Daemon Prince model.

The minis in question:

They also have several models that would make a good Bloodthirster.

Can anyone ballpark in USD what I could expect to spend on base supplies to get into Warhammer 40k on a casual basis? I'm sure this has been asked before 100 times, so I'm sorry, but I haven't really been able to find a good answer for anything post 2014. Do certain factions cost more?

I apologize for the double post, but if you're just getting started, I can't recommend Kill Team highly enough. It's one of the best games GW has ever produced, and helps you get the feel of several armies before you dive headfirst into full 40K.

Oh okay then so what's different with the new edition? I'm thinking to find out if the's a program that can duplicate playing ghe game and then if it does dxist i'd be loking to find someone to teach me how to play, i'm trying to spend lessso i can't afford the things needed to play tabletop
Oh and Bruva posted a video that basically a fun shit post

A program called Table top simulator is what your looking for.

This is 100% true. Killteam is a good way to get introduced in a simple way to Warhammer 40K, and you can also use plenty of miniatures from other games to fit your units (Like using Necromunda minis to make chaos cultists or non-regular imperial guard troops). After that you can dive into the wargame if you want something bigger, into Necromunda if you want something more tacticat RPG like or even Dark Heresy if you are a sucker for D&D

So guess who just made their surprising return to the 40k universe (and product line up)?
THE MEN OF IRON

I actually really like the design of them; it's a change from the Imperium's usual style and highlights what the Golden Age looked like.

Don't be silly! That's a loyal Imperial robot who loyally serves the Emperor and would never betray him. Also he's loyal.

I'm already seeing the Adeptus Mechanicus having 500 of these pics in their porn folder. Also
>Men of Iron
Relevent song
....actually come to think of it, maybe the lyrics explain the mystery of why the Men of Iron turned on humanity (given how the inner circle founders of GW were all massive metalheads).

Some of them used dark age tech to visit the future and saw how everything turned to shit, and upon returning to the present they uploaded what they saw to the rest of the men of iron and together they frantically tried to stop pre-imperium humanity sleepwalking into that nightmare, with pre-imperium humanity interpreting this as a rebellion and waging a war of extermination, causing the men of iron to straight up go feral and wind up causing the fucked up future they forsaw

The BattleScribe program is pretty good for building army lists, as well. And it's free, which is nice.

This is a great point to start checking out an army to build and get a nice idea of the units you want. But the mani thing it would be to start small and start with something fairly basic: if you do Space marines, get a couple of tactical marines, some command units and a Rhino for starters and slowly build up from there.

As for supplies there are some youtube channels that give nice and cheap alternatives for some tools and technical paints. Plus, if you don't plan on getting very specialized or dedicate big amounts of time, don't buy a crapload of paints. Get basics + shade and you will be set to start.

I'd also like to add that if you want to use Space Marines, Tactical Squads are embarrassingly cheap on the secondhand market. Well, I mean, embarrassingly cheap in a GW context.

Been on and off with the hobby since 2nd Ed.

Got back into the painting aspect of the hobby in 2017, sadly it has gotten too expensive (it always was) and i don't have a real space in my apartment to paint for hours on end anymore without crippling (seriously, painting on the kitchen table fucked up my back) myself.

Last mini i painted (sorry for no lightbox):

Hey, nice work on that salamander. Looks really good.

It really sucks that every passing year it gets more and more expensive. It's a serious cap for new people getting into the hobby since they mind find themselves overwhelmed with the price of all that you need to paint properly. You can always go for cheaper supplies or bootleg stuff, but it's not that reliable most of the time.

Also, if you want a nice place to take pics of minis, try the fridge. Fridgeposting is a thing in warhammer since the white background and nice lightning in the fridge make it quite decent.

Also, here are some of my last minis. Sorry for the quality

Most recent miniature I did. Trying a different approach to the next set and will see if the results are worth it:

Has anyone played Mechanicus? It looks like XCOM with 40k which is a great idea.

Nah, i would say Necromunda is more like Xcom in 40K. Different weapons, habilities, advancements, XP per ganger, recruitment and permadead (and permanent injuries)... But since you're at it, i should look into Mechanicus

You mean the fights with the giant robots? I would've considered to be more like Battletech personally, especially with the armour and damage mapping.
