If the base size is right and it fills up about the same space, I let it ride. It's more likely to fly at a GW store because it's a GW model that's available for sale. There's some pretty good proxies in the 3d printing realm, too.

These are available on Etsy.

just a heads up, you might get some of them cheaper via https://only-games.co/ - it's the physical printing service from MMF, they bought them a while back (they also got color printing). it's still MMF so eh, best course for now is still finding someone local to print it for cheap or find a third-party service with enough volume it uses inket (or maybe SLA).

Technically, Owlcat isn't a company that bathes in wokeness, they just work with how they're told to make stuff. So, if we go by the 2 Pathfinder games, Paizo had a bigger control over the development and telling what OwlCat should add, even though the "woke" stuff was surface shit at best.
owlcat is woke enough, afaik companions in kingmaker (besides the iconics) are all on them, including the cuck/bisexual orc. iirc tthere was also some stuff from the writers that they were planning to pozz it even harder.
the troon in wrath is based on the AP tho.
If you wanna have a good laugh, I believe 2 years ago, Paizo changed the Liches "phylactery" to "soul cage", because the former was tied to Jewish fate and they didn't wanna offed anyone or something like that. Combined, they removed the word "race" and changed it to "ancestary"
don't forget purging slavery from the setting because MUH FEELS.
the thing about paizo tho is that they're old-school woke. wrath was originally written in 2013, which is a bit before the whole troon thing really kicked off. insofar they are "honest" woke (if you could call it that) instead of pandering like WOTC etc. does and going apeshit with it (fucking black aragorn).

You definitely have to start with something at a smaller scale. Even though we all would love to see huge bitchin’ battles and shit, if they actually want this to work with a franchise like 40K there needs to be grounded smaller stuff that can naturally build up to the big stuff.
wouldn't be surprised if it's mostly human-centered on some hive world, since you can start cheap on a soundstage this way. then slowly tilt towards chaos and corruption, which is also cheaper to do (no expensive alien makeup), while dropping enough exposition and background-lore (with some easter eggs) along the way. then go all out in the finale where you finally see shit go down and they can spend most of the VFX budget.

I just hope they don't turn the space marines into yet another turtle, even in armor they can still move like normal.

Pathfinder had a slavery based setting? I know D&D decided to jettison DarkSun and the whole Ape race, but dont recall what was the slave setting fo PathFinder.

From the setting. There are slavers in most fantasies. Not a separate variant of the game focused on slavery, but slave using factions.

Drow, Druegar, Drukhari, Hutts, That Pathfinder slaver kingdom whose name I forgot, usually there is one every setting for an easy to use bad guy.

So sadly, there is no FATAL for the KKK edition out there. The farms should release one.
We could call it Cotton and Coons, CnC. Will you choose the Grand Wizard Dragon or Plantation Owner advanced class?

You mean Racial Holy War? That one was hilarious because da joos could successfully bribe player characters into not attacking them, despite the PCs supposedly being superior Aryans who were too cunning to fall for their schemes. Not that it mattered, because the rules weren't even finished, so there was no way to resolve attacks.

In other news, GW actually did something right for once. Scalpers are being forced to cancel the orders they took, and one of the stupid little twats even called customer service to threaten a lawsuit because they'd scratched nine of his ten copies.

More recently, Varg Vikernes (who probably deserves a thread here; I'm surprised he doesn't already have one) published his own OSR heartbreaker, MYFAROG. It's not quite as funny or broken as RaHoWa, but it also probably meets the criteria. Given that it's also filled with autistic charts while RaHoWa is short and unfinished, it's probably even closer spiritually to FATAL.

I always forget about that one, mainly because I tend to forget about Varg a lot. It's weird to say that someone who defined the early black metal scene, burned historic churches, and killed a guy is a boring washout, but that's what he is.

Wasn't there also some super hero TTRPG, which had this ugly 90's art style and the guy apparently was involved with some shady right-wing groups or some crapola?

I mean, in the current world, everything is shady right-wing if you are to the right of Pol pot. Even the most retarded sovereign libertardians with their tea hats are somehow turbo Hitler, almost a whole Trump.

I probably spend too much time in army builders. I enjoy making lists for 1k points because I generally get to pick the units I like without feeling forced to just pick things to fill out the points. And when I am picking things to fill out the points it let's me go over models I would otherwise disregard more critically and learn to appreciate them.

I know this is a 40k thread, but goddamn man the prices for those Old World models are outrageous. $85 for ushabti, and the fact that some of the models are still in metal. GW really just hinges on the niggercattle fanbase eating this shit up.
Yeah, that's pretty rough. Grail Knights too. If I still had my White Dwarfs I could post up the Aussie Dollar price for those at launch and I'm betting it'd still be waaaaaay cheaper than $85. With the Bretonnians you can kinda cheat and kitbash some other knights to look like them, but the Tomb Kings are harder to mimic. Really sucks they went this route.

I've been doing the exact same thing.
I wish 40k was more balanced around 1k points.

Well the store is fucked yet again, queues halted, people furious.

On the Old World front, I'm still trying to determine if female Bret knights is a good thing, or me realizing my wish for their return was done on a monkey paw.

Hm, now I wonder how soon we'll get some 3rd party Old World stuff. Unless, theres already been some floating

The ultimate monkey paw for the old world would be asking for a new Felix model and getting Ulrika because one is more likely to be alive in AoS and GW can double dip by make one model with a few tiny variations and selling them both at full price.

there are already loads of fantasy models for rank&file to fill the void GW left.
OPR armies come with both square and round, and they have models for 3-4 armies, while extending support to other creators: https://army-forge.onepagerules.com/armyBookSelection?gameSystem=aofr&partnerId=3301

and if you need something simple fast, all their paper minis are free: https://www.onepagerules.com/news/opr-paper-minis-are-now-free

Question: I would like to learn the lore of AOS but I'm not sure where to start: What book/book series should I go to first?

For context, I know nothing and have not been interested in anything GW has made, ever. Fantasy or 40K or anything: but my friends like it, they have been collecting ever since they were kids and my husband recently bought a whole BUNCH of AOS miniatures, including a whole army of Stormcast for me to play.

I built them and am getting into painting them, but I feel like it's a shame to not know anything about the universe this game's set in. Now with old world showing up I'm curious if I can possibly catch up on stuff? Has anyone got any suggestion or what book I ought read? Or, has anyone got non-obnoxious breakdown channels on YouTube? I tried searching for it and I think, maybe the channels that had readings of the lore got dmca'd?

Thanks guys
