You do realize both Calvil and GW gonna look over Amazons back, so they dont pull the same stuff? Like, Calvil even said he wants the show to fit lore properly and not fuck up like Witcher was.
GW is already leftist, and Amazon provides most of the production. If they decide to ignore Cavill, nobody can stop them.
Also, GW is the one ignoring its own lore; the fans are usually more loyal to the lore than GW is, whereas GW has no problems changing the lore just to sell more minis or fit things in the current era, like how the Primarchs suddenly have a mother instead of them just being cloned from the Emperor. If GW cared about the lore, the Primaris wouldn't exist the way they do. Randos from Mars suddenly pressed into every Space Marine chapter, despite each chapter being an insular organization with its own training, hazing, and battle rituals-that makes no fucking sense whatsoever. The chapters would just kill or shoo away the Primaris Marines that try to join them. It would've made more sense lore-wise if all the Primaris marines were just older marines who signed up for some special project to get geneseed and armor upgrades. But no, for some reason, most of the usually-insular Space Marine chapters suddenly allowed randos from Mars to join their organizations.
Ya know, with what POS The Boys original material was, I'll take "woke" shit more.
It's that both the comic and the show are kind of nonsensical. I'm tempted to highlight why, but I already spoke enough of it on The Boys thread.

What I know for sure is that Peter Jackson trilogy had meticulous pre-production phase that involved, among other things, expert blacksmiths pulling 8 hour workdays for weeks. Meanwhile the Amazon Studios production allegedly started building up costume department when filming had already started (or at other far too late point in time) and they had the pay premium to get
anything in time. While it is worth pointing out that the showrunners were criticized from the start for being too inexperienced for a production at this scale - also allegedly, this "throw money at the easily foreseeable problem at the last minute" is somehow the
industry norm these days in TV production.
That's the problem. Back in the 2000s, the people who got involved with nerd shit cared about it to the point where they stretched their limited resources to ensure that the material was treated with respect, like how the Star Wars Prequels were shot with the intention that the SW Expanded Universe is canon. Now you just have mega-companies tossing billions at problems to make them go away while not giving a shit about the specifics; the kind of approach that one can expect from the fucking Imperium of Man, ironically enough.
For being "woke", they made Homelander, an actual asshole, pretty based.
They wanted to make him Trump with a cape, then got mad when the fans started liking him more than Starlight and Hughie.
I can imagine they'll make a villain character for 40K that winds up more beloved than the hero. Maybe a Commissar who tries to egg on his men to fight to the last, or a Space Marine who shoots anyone he suspects of being a Chaos cultist. They'll try to make these characters seem evil, but they'll wound up ''based'' and cool in the eyes of the fans.
