iirc the Death Korps were first featured in the Armageddon releases from 3rd ed as alternative color schemes for the Steel LegionAm I the only one who is gonna bet abnett had more of a hand in this then ADB? Yes the latter has been talking about female custodies for years, but iirc he's only written one book about them (master of mankind) and the former has been subtly fucking with custodies lore for years, I will put money on it being a thing valdor cooked up after the hearsay or one of malcadors back up plans.
Imo there's no good books/current lore about the sisters that would attract them. I've been avoiding it because of ADB but I have talked to people who hold the night lord trilogy in high regard and is one of the reasons why the bought minis for the faction and it only took two necron books to spark interest in them after ward did what ward did best, also someone correct me if I'm wrong but where the death korps of krieg first introduced in the siege of vrakas campaign or where they established lore before that?
On the other hand a bad book entry can kill intrest in a faction. Looking at you ynnari, they truly lived up to the whole gimmick of eldar killing themselves.
On the current topic, im excited to see if they fuck up and double down spectacularly on this, and if the new crop of normies and redditors they've been building up since the "Warhammer is for everyone" post will be enough to keep the revenue flowing, the answer is probably a yes, but they just squatted half of their OG AoS releases in prep for a 4th edition, they will continue making retarded decisions that only the most hardcore of consoomers will stay for, and they now have to make sure those are both hardcore consoomers and not le chuds, 11th or 12th ed will be a fascinating time for 40k
