Squat codex leaked. Looking for a PDF.

Edit: Comments are apocalyptic. The Codex is apparently all the power creep of 8th and 9th combined into one stupidly OP codex.

"Reading through the book, it just seems like a collection of all the worst balanced design choices in 9th.
Turn off rerolls, easy invuln access from the custom to avoid paying points for it, tau level guns with a vastly superior hail of doom on top, fight on death, psychic powers that are far too cheap, a load of 1 cp strats that cost 2cp for others, stupidly easy secondaries. All in a fairly cheap set of datasheets."

"Of course we’ll need to see actual performance, but on paper, this looks like a clearly gassed up codex, and power creep personified. Having Armor of Contempt AND the buffed Salamanders/Iron Warriors tactic just built-in army wide seems like it’ll be a bit problematic, especially in Ymir (who look like real strong frontrunners).
I’m willing to give the Judgement system some leniency, since it is something new and I think GW have earned some wiggle room with the quarterly updates and balance dataslates. But I can’t imagine this doing poorly, it’ll take a while for the army to make a splash since it’s entirely new. But once it’s “solved” things are gonna be rough"

B&C has some salt: "GW seems to have combined all the most powerful and despised mechanics from all the other codexes into one faction. Yet another pathetic dumpster fire from their rules design team. 40k is such a mess.

Tau markerlights but better and never go away and many ways to apply them automatically. Armor of contempt. Access to 5+++ and -1 damage. CP regen that stacks. Army wide auto wounding, with counts as 6s. Double obsec. Fights last debuff. Mass mortal wound ability. Remove psychic buffs/debuffs. Ignore move modifiers. 1 cp heroic intervention for any infantry or biker unit. No reroll to wound vs the army. Nasty melee units with fight on death. Tons of cheap strats to shoot into combat, teleport around, or reroll hits or wounds. Ways to ignore invul in shooting or melee. Damage splashover like mortal wounds on some high damage ranged guns. Several ways to ignore cover."

So yeah the entire army has the Armor of Contempt relic and Salamanders/IW tactic built in, for free. One of their new damage types shoots through shielding units and damages both the target and the chaff, another ignores invulns outright and has splash damage on 6s.

LOL. GW literally reusing Blender files to create Berserkers out of Primaris marines. They're 100% going to make the CSM match Primaris scale for no reason other than it's easier.
Called it. They're not gonna shit out a whole new army and not have it be the most broken thing ever.

It will only stay broken until their stocks of models deplete a sufficient amount, at least.

I know it’s a running joke but take solace Tau players that you are no longer the most hated faction.

I ended up buying a starter box of tyranid models to begin a small army, but after assembling the first 12 gaunts out of around 36 or so I think I might have made a small mistake starting with a horde-based army.
There's a pretty useful speed painting video by The Painting Coach that may help somewhat once you get them all built.

On the exact opposite flip side, the Coconut Crab Tyranid Scheme will literally drive you insane. But it'll look great.

And here's the Hermit Crab version, which is easier and quicker. Instead of painting with dots, you undercoat with dots and then use a contrast paint instead.

But if you don't like that, here's a nice grimdark version:

Ok watched both parts of the Votann lore video on WH+. This has to be the most boring/least interesting faction lore wise. It literally boils down to a more technologically advanced human offshoot from before the age of strife, the only thing they got going for them is that they are midgets and "clones".

Should be noted that the Voltann scan is low res and only covers 36 pages. There's also a lot of white space that was censored out of it. I would have posted earlier about it but been busy.

Rules for the Void Armour by the way
Each time an attack is made against this unit, your opponent cannot re-roll the wound roll and cannot re-roll the damage roll
Each time an attack is allocated to a model in this unit, the armour penetration characteristic of that attack is reduced by 1 (to a minimum of zero).

Squat version of a Rhino. Main battle tank. Biggest model in the launch. Armor + void shields (!) + baneblane style gun. One option is a better raingun than the Tau.
It doesn't have the range of a railgun. Max range for any weapon it has is 36". I think what you meant to say is that it can have a Magna-Rail.
Magna Rail.
Invulnerable saving throws cannot be taken against the attack
On an unmodified wound roll of 6, excess damage that the weapon inflicts is not lost. Instead, keep allocating excess damage to another model in the target unit until either all excess damage has been allocated or the target unit is destroyed.

Looking at the new kill team boxes they’ve done well with the Blooded box. There is enough lasguns in there to equip all 10 traitor guardsmen. They’re also compatible with regular cadian kits so a decent looking traitor force is actually possible now.
C’mon GW some rules in Chapter Approved or White Dwarf can’t be fat behind considering how close the new Guard codex is to being released.

What gimmicks shall the Squats have?

All of them, by Bugman's Beard!

I am not surprised, they want it to sell, combining nostalgia and big powercreep to get grognards and powergamers both.

The Votaan look really mean. The only real weaknesses they have are mortal wounds and being outranged/outmaneuvered. This and the Nephilim book kinda discourages me from playing at local tourneys, just been sticking to playing with friends and on TTS.

Kill team looks very promising, at least. Might get into the space hulk stuff for a campaign.

An interesting take on things.

BoLS makes a case that the Squats are just re-using the old, classic 1W Space Marines design philosophy before the recent updates. A "middle-of-the-line Jack of All trades army" whereas the Marines themselves have been sliding towards more of an elite army.

That's why they have their judgement token thing or "that's a paddling" mechanic for any time you kill a unit of theirs.

So a friend gave me one of the last Boss Zagstrukk models that our LGS had in stock, and while Finecast is still a giant pain in the ass, I can't wait to torpedo him into GEQ/MEQ squads to make hamburger.

Does anyone have any experience with the Army Painter metallics set?

I'm still chafed they didn't include rules for them to use in 40k. Maybe for the Guard codex?

On an unrelated note, I'm happy to see more Alpha Legion content coming (though Mike Brooks can be soy on social media).

I have a fair number of APs metallics as part of one of their huge starter sets. Good coverage, even after thinning to a working consistency and I like the colors themselves. You need to shake the shit out of them to get them usable, though

Fortunately the metallics set comes with mixing balls. I have some DnD branded paints that are clearly rebranded Army Painter and it separates worse than any other paints I own. AP also doesn't have many purple options and I'm about to paint a sister's army with gold armor and purple cloth. I just don't know if my Faezress Purple is the same as their Alien Purple since the former was only released in a themed underdark dnd set.

Emperor's Children, Third Street Saints or she just likes that combo?

I found this chart that would seem to indicate that Faerzress Purple is unique to the D&D line.
