Yeah this dreadnought is a 3D printed proxy, admittedly quite plain and without too much creative details, but it was my first paintjob on one and I like the way it looks. very simple

I also really, REALLY like the way Iron Warriors chaos space marines look. I wanna do some like this guy has done, eventually:

smchaos.png

also, fixed the stripes that were messed up, it's coming along much better now. And added another wash of Nuln Oil over the whole thing.

fixed.png

P.S., I was in a bit of painters block so I just ordered a bunch of 3D prints that are way outside of my wheelhouse/comfort zone to paint next (save for the Great Unclean One, I can paint those easy)

I wanna do the tzeentch proxies in colorshift.

change.png
change2.png
tzerminator.png (this terminator outside comfort zone because it will be painted colorshift like the others)

and of course had to grab a new unclean one sculpt that I hadnt seen yet just for fun:

Once these come in the mail I will have to go to the LGS and pick up some colorshift paints that look like they will go good on the Lord of Change.

There's a number of reasons that game failed, and should have honestly been predictable. Cost, lack of variety of characters(yes, the game is "inquisitor" but there wasn't much for the inquisitors to interact with other than... other inquisitors and a couple other models), an utterly ridiculous ruleset involving percentages, division... 4 pages just for movement that were mostly text and a table for the 6 different movement rates that did not include climbing, swimming, etc. Hell melee combat was another 6 pages that didn't even include armor, damage rolls, cover, etc.(those were in an entirely separate chapter)

Normally people want a 3-6 model per side skirmish game they can easily play in under 90 minutes(current kill team is questionable). Inquisitor was for people who wanted a handful of models and a game to take longer than a full 40k game. The best thing we got out of that was some lore and a bunch of art. The game itself... fuck that.
Also, the models were for a much larger scale and the game seemed to want detailed tables with multiple levels. I was always curious about it and the bigger models fascinated me but it's no surprise it failed.

Though more than a skirmish game it seemed to me more like an TRPG with heavy model support where 2 would play opposing forces and a third would have a DM role of sorts to set up scenarios.

It did come fron the time where they were still willing to try weird shit and I find that comendable. Was also around the time Battle Fleet Gothic was a thing, never caught on but did seem to be a lot more compelling as a game.

Has anybody seen the new line of YouTuber-inspired Colourforge Spray Paints?

I think it's interesting to see the colours that have been picked, personally. Chapter Master Valrak, brazen Imperial Fists fanboy that he is, of course, jumped instantly on a mustard yellow colour. The more professional, painterly YouTubers, like Chris Peach and Pete the Wargamer have clearly considered the assignment a bit more, and chosen colours that are objectively a bit boring, but actually really useful workhorses for army painting. Noted 4/10, Rogue Hobbies has gone for bright pink because she's a girl, uwu.

By far the weakest collaboration, though, the runt of the litter, is the hopefully soon-to-be-homeless Guy from Midwinter Minis' effort - Midwinter Ice, which is just the ice-blue colour of his logo. Literally the laziest choice he could have made and a colour which I think, deep down, even he realises is fucking worthless for miniature painting, as it's too light for most blue-coloured armies, too blue to be used as a basecoat for most neutral white or grey coloured armies, and honestly, really limited in its use as a spray paint for this hobby. It hasn't stopped him trying to shill it, though, as he tries come up with things you could use it for in this video with an increasingly quiet desperation. At one point, he says it would be great to paint up some retro style Space Wolves, even though retro Space Wolves were a completely different shade of blue, more of a pill blue, whereas his shit paint is a cyan. He also compares it to Baharroth Blue, which is a paint designed for very fine edge highlights, not for basecoating, as spray paint is supposed to be.

Literally all of his suggestions look shit, except maaaybe the nighthaunt, which I actually kind of like - the blue gives it a kind of 'Disneyland Haunted Mansion ghost' vibe - but you need an airbrush to do it, and anyone who owns an airbrush setup for miniature painting isn't going to be buying spray primers in cans, when they can just prime using their airbrush that they already have.

I'm sorry, I seem to rant about Guy an awful lot in this thread, but it seems like everything this man does irritates me. I'd like to buy a couple of cans of Midwinter Ice and spray paint the word 'WANKER' in foot high letters across the side of his house.

No idea why I can't hit the reply button on your post but you're right about Midwinter Mini and Rogue Hobbies colour choices as they have a very limited use overall as base coats. If you have a tonne of pink horrors go nuts with Rogue Pink but outside of a couple bits of terrain I'm struggling to think of any use for Midwinter Ice.

The pink could probably actually work well for doing a yellow army ironically enough, as a number of people use it as an under coat for yellow. The yellow itself, I've honestly got no idea. If you're doing a big desert terrain board it's too yellow for that, and you'd be better off buying cheaper paint from the hardware store anyway.

That "midwinter ice" bullshit... of course the color blind guy picks the crappiest possible color for undercoating anything. Yes, it could work for a very specific color of nighthaunt or other ghosts or something? It's too blue to use for white, it's not dark enough to be an undercoat for a blue army. He even shows it's basically a match for baharroth blue which people mostly just use as a highlight.

Since basically any yellow paint normal people use for minis isn't opaque, the pink ends up being an orange/brownish color. There's also slaaneshi demons, people painting EC, maybe tyranids/GSC, I can think of a hell of a lot more reasons for a pink base coat than "midwinter ice". His own ork paint job ends up... weird looking. Also his example at 7:!4... I don't think those colors are going to work out like that buddy. His 30 second genestealer also manages to look like shit.

BFG had weirdness like using cm instead of inches and armor saves were handled backwards to how they are in the main game with the attacker needing to roll over that number to pen. On top of that a lot of rules were wonky, shooting needed a dedicated table thanks to all of the modifiers and balance overall was... iffy.

Very neat concept, though. Shame it wasn't developed more.

LastHopePrinting on Etsy is a kind, extremely quick shipping 3D printer/seller. This dude is awesome. He has become my main and only 3D mini printer guy because of how fast and cordial he is. You guys should check out his shop if you were interested in 3D prints, I got that lord of change, tzeentch spellsword bird guy and great unclean one proxy from him, among many others. he has so many neat sculpts in his shop and is really cool as a person that I just had to plug him here and hopefully get him a little bit more traffic :]

The Lost Kingdom minis are proving to be incredibly gorgeous. I love the way they do feathers on their sculpts.

I agree with you: no it would not. It's a fucked colour to do Space Wolves, even 30k era Wolves.

I'll be honest: that colour is the one all mums recognise as "Elsa blue". I mean, if you want to raise a Guard regiment out of Arendelle, it would be brilliant-

-I want to raise a Guard regiment out of Arendelle. There's got to be a Elsa-fiable Damsel model out there somewhere.

First of all - amazing idea! With snowy Valhallan Blizzard texture paint on the bases! And snowflake camo on the tanks!

Google tells me that apparently there's a company called Hasselfree Miniatures that makes some 'nudge, nudge, wink, wink' 100% original miniatures that might look a bit like an ice princess and her quirky sister if you painted them a certain way, possibly...

I actually don't mind him too much personally, but I understand this. Sometimes there are ppl you just cant stand for whatever reasons. He seems like a decent enough beginner level painter that is improving his abilities through his youtube videos. I actually felt pretty sorry for the dude after he started talking about him and his ex breaking up in the last (admittedly fugly and horrible) "nurgle tank" video. I always hate to hear about couples splitting, esp. ones with kids. I just wish it wouldn't happen. Though if someone like DSP and Kat got a divorce I actually would probably laugh my ass off at his misfortune because he is that one guy I just can't stand, like you and MWM! lol

Don't feel too sympathetic towards Guy - he's a piece of shit and the reason his marriage fell apart is entirely his own doing. When he wasn't sliding into that tranny, Dana Howl's DMs, he was shagging Hattie behind his wife's back while she was pregnant with their twins.

There's some stuff on Reddit about it that makes for some interesting reading...

Reddit talking about Midwinter Minis.png

I can't say I'm a fan of how he flaunts his new bit of stuff in thumbnails like this one, either, in which he declares that she 'wasn't even born in the '90s!'

I dunno, that seems kind of gross.
Gives me this kind of a vibe:

Oh, yeah. Man there's always some nasty dirt on youtubers these days. Fuck that guy for cheating, especially on a pregnant woman. I am dramatically opposed to cheating it is so painful to do to someoen :[

He used to do that with his ex all the time in videos where he'd highlight the age difference or go "she wasn't even born for...". It's a very weird thing, a pattern if you will.

Aw, those are AWESOME. I have a Guard-playing mate who has four small daughters. I think I may have found a plan for the best joke birthday present yet.

Re: tranny Sanguinius - tumblr has this appalling, appalling fancanon that Mortarion is trans. (In that, he has vagine). The fancanon goes, he's a trans man and was molested as a child by Necare (puke). Don't know why Mortarion in particular gets this BAD ENDING, since Lorgar is actually canonically abused by Kor Phaeron as a kid and also Kor Phaeron is so obviously a nonce he may as well be called J'mi Sahvil

The fact she moved on is Guys only saving grace at this point. Any other woman would have probably started an orbital bombardment and nuked his entire career on YouTube before it really had a chance to begin.
