Works just fine using a USB mic with 100 hours into it.

edit: I'm seeing discussions about people having fucked up USB cables causing issues, having a bunch of USB microphone devices in windows and not just disabling the ones they don't want to use but that was just for using it for the right input device. What are you talking about?
The only USB devices I have plugged into my computer are a mouse, keyboard, and a receiver for a wireless Antlion USB mic which is brand new. I got it just before SM2 launched.

I just noticed that Titus' Deathwatch kill-team in the SM2 prolog consists of a Templar, Space Wolf, and a pair of Angels(Blood and Dark respectively). That's fucking sick as. Just makes me wish we had a game set during his tenure as a Black Shield instead. But I think any chapter would have been more interesting than the Ultramarines, daring opinion I know.
It's every chapter with a supplemental codex (conveniently purchasable at a Games Workshop near you!)

IMO a deathwatch game would've been better overall but they wanted this as soft intro to the franchise for people. Give me my kill team squad shooter GW!

Reddit just had the most brilliant quick idea for Iron Hands I've seen: Using the AdMech gear tooth pattern on the edges of tabbards / robes / capes. It's a simple idea and I'm sure others have done it, but I've never seen/thought of it. I'm a bigger fan of Stygies 8 than Mars itself, but the gear tooth on black would work just as well I'd think. Except... black tabbards on black armor? "Nice Iron Hands army, when are you gonna finish it" is already a meme... Guess I could do a very dark grey for the tabbards vs black armor. Or give the armor a slightly satin varnish? Or drybrush silver onto the armor to make it look industrial and worn down slightly?

I have a bit of a strange question for the thread. What are your favourite factions, lore, models, etc. and how does your opinion compare with the opinions online? What popular reddit opinions do you disagree with?
I'm a tad vanilla in my tastes, guardsmen for imperium faction, thousand suns for chaos, and orks for Xenos

My normie opinion is no female space marines, sororitas already exist and we don't need space marines shoving themselves into other factions stylings

Annoying enough with the grey knights getting crammed into the inquisition, but whoever greenlit the tech marines should have been pistol whipped

I always wanted to do an in universe lore comment of "those Deathwatch chapters are just placeholders to the actual chapters and their tendencies" since it seems like 95% of the Deathwatch teams in lore includes a Space Wolf rather than the 1 marine per chapter.

Well, the Space Wolves do maintain numbers above the standard 1,000 marines. Perhaps the Deathwatch tithes the wolves more heavily as a result, thus the over-representation. Is this true? Probably not, I'm just pulling excuses for lazy GW out of my ass.

They look pretty dam good. Would you stick with white for gear pattern if you're painting a grey tabard? If you do I'd suggest blue or even off blue when highlights for your armour. However if you go the silver route maybe start with mournfange brown and then silver over the top for a more beaten up look.

iirc Chapters swear an oath to send a particular number of Marines to the Deathwatch, meaning you can have more than 1 per chapter. The canny Chapter Master will start sending people off to the Deathwatch if he ends up over-recruiting and going over 1,000 when the Administratum/Inquisition come knocking.

Marine tax evasion!

They also tend to vary on who they send, either sending the cream of the crop, considering it an honor to serve, or handing the Deathwatch some of their more problematic members who don't quite get along with the rest of the Chapter.

Given that the Space Wolves are big fans of the Inquisition in general, I am sure you can guess who gets tagged to serve there, and for some odd reason that has nothing to do with them being Space Vikings the Space Wolves tend to have an above-average number of rivalries and other headaches where the easiest thing to do is to just boot someone elsewhere and wait for things to settle down in a decade or two.

"Oh hey, Ragnar Blackmane, its totally a great honor for you to serve House Belisarius as an honor guard in repayment of our Chapter's debts to them for serving as our Navigators, and has nothing at all to do with the fact half the Chapter thinks you sticking Magnus in his one eye with the Spear of Russ was utterly hilarious and the other half thinks you're a total faggot and wants you dead for losing a weapon that was gifted to our Primarch by the Emperor Himself."

If you say tranny crusade on /tg/ you get banned

Typical Tranch Crusade enjoyer.

This pudgy neckbearded they/them spends almost an hour trying to sell it to me, but it sounds shit, not going to lie. The world is boring and any time it isn't completely boring, it just sounds like 'the 40k we have at home', but with even more overt, obvious Catholic imagery, because edge and muh atheism.

Jesus fucking christ why doesn't it shave. And it has a dirty sock over a mic? and a wrist brace? and the gay leather biker hat? a furry shirt and a fucking hello kitty hoodie? and a speech impediment?

Is this a parody?

So then I get to the part where this stereotypical game store thing is talking about the game. They point out that you roll a dice pool and pick the 2 highest, but how it's so up in the air because you could roll all 2s, and this is better than individual dice needing to hit a target number... except in that scenario you can also roll a hand full of 2s and need a 3+. And claims that wild probability swings are rare... but this game uses 3d6kh2... and adds dice. The fact that you're keeping dice and adding them together means everything is immediately on a curve instead of every instance tied to a single die having the same probability for an individual number. He's got the whole fucking thing backwards.

Yes, 2d6 is a 27% chance, but 3d6kh2 is 52% which is a wild fucking swing. 4d6kh2 ends up 69%, 5 dice and it becomes 80%.

All of this means the results of dice rolls are LESS swingy and any manipulation from additional rules has a massive impact. And then there's still armor modifiers to the wound rolls on top of that? a 2d6-2 on a wound roll means that insta kill on 9 is basically never going to happen... so why bother? And if an extra die was involved for 3d6-2 keep highest 2, then that means the -2 heavy armor modifier changed it from 52% to 50%... which is fucking nothing. "spend blood markers for more dice, it's not a bonus to the result it's increasing the amount of dice you roll this means you're still subject to a high amount of randomness" NO. It's removing the fucking randomness for every die added.

This guy has to be one of those morons who thinks a 9" charge in 40k with only 2d6 and no bonus isn't a long shot and instead of just placing from reserves on your own turn, rapid ingress so you can still move on your own turn. Then this guy talks about how much tension it adds to the game... no it fucking doesn't. Because if you've played a 2d6 system, once bonuses and debuffs start getting thrown around, you can end up in a situation where it's not just incredibly low odds to do something, it becomes mathematically impossible so you might as well not even bother(warmahordes had this issue, 2d6+stat to hit a defensive target number, which a low accuracy army vs a fast army like khador vs circle, you might as well not fucking bother making attacks).

Then he talks about a basic infantry model surviving a half dozen different attacks... but if you roll 8d6-1 from getting 6 extra blood tokens on a target you still haven't killed keep highest 2, to get a 9... the minimum roll for the next attack is literally 9 Even if it survived only 5 previous attacks the 6th will still have a 99% chance to kill it. Fuck, even with 4d6 having thrown 2 attacks at it previously for the blood tokens, the 3rd attack still has a 90% chance of killing the thing.

Im guessing he usee it as a noise dampner, its like a gonzo method if you cannot afford a sound dampner for your mic. You either put a sock over it or if you have a standee mic you can stretch some tights over it.
Yes, but do that for a mic that isn't visible, or at least hide the fucking Hanes stitching.

I've still got this crap on and he's talking about how a captain might make its points back on average so its worth loading up with equipment... this moron doesn't know what the fuck an average of anything is. And I skipped this blob talking about the lore. I'm sure the writing is "amazing".

edit again: Fucking hell now he's talking about D&D bro it's not even the same fucking type of game, let alone genre.

It really is a case of 'the more you look, the worse it gets'.

He has a video on his channel about 'Warhammer's Gender Problem' too, because of fucking course he does.

I get the feeling he's one of those awful insufferable nerds that every Games Workshop seems to have at least one of in residence, where he clearly isn't told to shut the fuck up enough by his peers.

What the fuck is that? Also, I just noticed he's got the same random smattering of 40k shit sitting on the shelf collecting dust in the same position(most notably the necron skorpekhs and the 2 vexillas with the custodes in relation to the spears in the air make it obvious. This thing doesn't play anything. Has some videos talking about shit he painted back in 2022. I can only assume he's had those black primered custodes sitting on that shelf for a year and a half.
