Just wanna say that Fulgrim is a great book and well worth reading. Good fucking luck adapting it for the TV show though.
You'd have to present the opera scene in the final act through two sets of eyes. One through Fulgrim's where everything is the pinnacle of art and the other (probably rewrite Ostian's perspective so that he had a glimpse of the opera) which reveals it to be the horrifying discordant mess of depravity it really was.

I can't honestly think of how you would do either perspectives justice without tripping into mediocre art faggery followed by tasteless gore porn.

That is the book that sold me on the Third, the most “human” of space marines, so much so that they freely socialize, drink and even cohabitate with humans, so being undone by human vice and sin is great.

Some legions have very weak falls and some have grandiose and clever falls. The EC’s shared ego, insecurity and rampant classism all formulated into a perfect tragedy. Especially funny because the Chemosian marines were, just a generation before, enslaved wagies, like the legion, their “nobility” is a sham.

Fulgrim being casually mentally raped by Ostian pointing out how soulless and factory-made his “art” is still stands out as a highlight. This demigod is so insecure that a quiet and unassuming artist doing what was asked of him caused egodeath. I guess that’s why Fulgrim Serbian Film’d Serena’s body.

An adaptation to avoid the gore porn should lean into Slaanesh’s temptations being the most “Satan-like” of the chaos gods.

So just mix “American Psycho” and “Devil’s Advocate,” with Saul and Lucius, two up and coming marines are inducted into the Warrior Lodge and get exposed to how rotten their legion is becoming. Fulgrim becoming Slaanesh’s voice and the devil on the shoulder of his marines is very consistent. Fulgrim literally has a drink poured and makes Tamaris keep drinking the refills in the new book.

I’ve always thought that Fulgrim, in further imitation of his father should have a “meek” human form, (again, like “John Milton” in Devil’s Advocate) to better tempt and gaslight those he wants to corrupt. He’s already doing the Sauron “fair form” and “monster form” in both the Eidolon novel and Perfect Son. My ideal use of this would be a short story where a loyalist space marine has a serf he’s using to vent frustrations to and the serf ever so slightly boosts his ego and “nudges” him to fucking up, making him more vulnerable to the sin Fulgrim loves selling.

Saw Chaos Knights get a new model/sprue in their box and the regular Knight box is getting split into two boxes, one with Rex and the other with the Void shield sprue.
I heard Imperial Knights are getting one more new variant on top of what they already have, was that just a rumor?

Came to ask the HH3 leaks.

As expected, I might have to rush-buy the Age of Darkness box while it's available. It's basically a Space Marine army young me would've liked but couldn't afford. I doubt the new box will be the same value, but we'll see.

One leak channel speculated that the minis are getting a reboot to primaris scale. That could throw a wrench in my plans if true, since part of the reason I want HH is to have firstborn scale without paying the scalped firstborn used prices.

What in the HH line works well in 40k?

I have read that some beaky boys can be used for bits (my EC may get beaks if i feel rich) and 30k Rhinos are better maybe?

Is there much else that seemlessly slides into 40k without batting an eyelid?
Everything. :smug:

I'm no expert on the HH line, and aren't even sure of the scale of them. I read conflicting things on if they're firstborn or primaris scale, for example.

But it really depends what you're going for. I'm guessing tournaments are picky about it? And I come from a time when Mk7 was the marine armour of choice with a few Mk6 bits in each box. Basically any of the late harasy stuff will work in 40k like Mk6.

Some of the vehicles also work well for certain guard armies. The HH sentinals would be a great fit for Vostroyans and Praetorians. Any SM chapter that makes heavy use of relics could benefit from the command squad. And as other said, most SM marine kits can fit chaos warbands. Not just the marines, but the vehicles too. The question then becomes would you, or should you, bother? For low mutation warbands like Iron Warriors, maybe?

You can also "de-herasy" some kits. Things like cutting off bayonets and using a "retro" paint style. ie. Going away from the desaturated grim dark HH look.

Curious what opinion were on Chaos Gate Daemonhunters? Im a Grey Knight fan, so Im biased, but I loved it. Still play it every few months. Classes were distinct and powerful, enemies were tough but not frustrating, and the story was surprisingly moving at the end.
I haven't played it due to DRM, but I want to.

It seems neat from the lets plays I've seen. Though a common sentiment at launch was it was too difficult at the strategic layer, with people complaining they beat the game before half the tech tree was unlocked.

They aren’t upscaling the HH minis with the new box, that’s retarded and anyone who says so is retarded.

They’re already at their own scale with the tinier heads. They are CSM scale with slightly different proportions to maintain GW’s autistic line separation but are cross-compatible with 40k Firstborn and CSM. It’s literally just a normal Space Marine.

Sorry to ask because its not clear.

What is their 'scale'?

Is it a noticeable difference (firstborn vs primaris)
A third scale?
or are the proportions the difference rather than scale?

Aussie tax means its a $100 gamble to try something different.

HH is basically firstborn scale, and not original scale. It's not as large as primaris.

This helps a lot.

Beaks wouldnt look too out of place on EC (or primaris in general), but they are missing a small amount of height and chonk in the body.

Fuck it, maybe I will buy a box of HH marines. Worst case scenario I have bits. Best case I have 20 firstborn
Hell, even just 1 sprue of space marines will get you plenty of dismembered arms, legs, and heads to put on bases, trophy racks, etc. I've told the same to people who have gone to a GW store and picked up a mini of the month and it's a space marine when they don't play them "well ok, now you've got 2 arms, 2 legs, a torso, and a head to spread out across bases as dead body parts"

"well ok, now you've got 2 arms, 2 legs, a torso, and a head to spread out across bases as dead body parts"
An opportunity for Tactical Marines to live up to their name.

I believe the pauldrons are consistent in scale across everything including Primaris alongside the helmets.

nah, primaris heads are bigger and putting first born helmets on the bodies does actually look a little weird at times. I think the difference between that is actually more noticeable than the height difference(since we aren't talking about 2nd edition bullshit squatty marines).

I'm going through Mechanicum now, and while I certainly have been enjoying it, I just can't seem to retain any of it. Everything has been going in one ear and out the other, and it's not a case of being too distracted to pay attention. Idk. Just not sticking with me the way some of the other stuff I've read has. I might end up having to just read the text myself on this one or just write it off as "good but forgettable" and move on.

Not sure when they met them, but no one is xenophobic enough to hate tech wizard orangutangs
Shame they're a curiosity for the most part. I was thinking more on the squats (although they're not technically xenos), or the Eldar if they weren't psychotically arrogant.

Chaos Gate looks a bit ugly but IMO the worst parts are how repetitive it becomes, how the strategic layer can quickly lead you to a game over if you're unlucky (enjoy your lead and ONLY scientist randomly taking 50% more time to research because she had a bitchfit), and the DLCs make the game stupidly hard. THe GK were too squishy IMO in that game, a random cultist shouldn't be able to scratch the paint of the marine's armor, and yet here they can plink you to death.

I get that way when it comes to any action scene. Infinite and the Divine at the end, that whole battle things just sort of happen and it's hard to visualize what exactly is meant to be happening. Right now I'm going through Lords of Silence and, even though I'm halfway through, I don't know what's happened. I guess it's just a book about some guys being dudes and complaining about the Legion. They only just now explained what Unbroken are and I guess it's just another term for Death Guard. Still don't know for sure what the Unchanged are but I guess it's some kind of human. Some novels really feel like you need a sufficient amount of lore to really appreciate. It's sort of unavoidable though. You can't spend every novel explaining each faction in case it happens to be someone's first book.

The beaks actually look weird on Primaris, HH marines have slightly smaller headsculpts so it’s not like CSM and Primaris where the difference is marginal, no it looks comical.

The worst part is when you start researching stuff you're inevitably going to spoil some major event for yourself.

I still remember accidentally reading that Horus during the Siege of Terra was actually more drugged out and insane than John McAfee and not only dying laughing but cancelling my order for the books immediately.

Actually the funniest shit ever, the war to end all wars is going down and Horus is wandering his quarters naked and senile, with Argonis as his tard wrangler.

Then the big reveal is a literal, “I was faking being retarded.”
