Why do I have a sneaking suspicion this wanker had burnout and needed to pull a "muh ish sad wittke utuber guyz" card like those TTS fucks did
Considering his patreon is sub $800 after he did his siege of vraks animation trailer, I wouldn't be surprised. the TTS guys were full of shit, and had slowed their video production to 1 episode a year, and clearly didn't want to do it anymore(also tried multiple things like a book podcast, TTRPG playthroughs, etc. and none of it stuck).
Just watching through the video. He bitches about the wave of takedowns and suits from a couple months back. Yes, GW was fucking retarded and didn't review them before filing and caught some people who were legit. However the actual list was 90%(or more) people ripping their shit off. He mentions that stuff isn't monetized on youtube... but he's also got his $785/month patreon monetization.
Then he brings up cosplay commissioners. I assume he means people commissioned to make cosplays for people? As in, making things that look like GW IP for profit? I wonder why GW might have an issue with that, especially considering they have a deal with a company producing cosplay merch. Back to talking about Bruva Alfabusa, who still hasn't been forced to take down his videos.
Says he has sources from people who work with GW directly. Really? Employees of GW? Or just some of many people who have agreements with GW and get free product? Back to the people making cosplay... again people producing things that appear like GWs IP and selling it. Talks about GW needing to "set things right" seems to have no idea how copyright and trademark laws work.
Keeps comparing himself to alfabusa. Says if he remained unmonetized he thought people would be "safe" or made parody. Again... patreon for his content and cosplay makers selling product is monetization. Says he inadvertently spread the message of fear about making content about warhammer and that GW is on a "warpath"... yeah ok. Hilariously mentions Alfabusa's patreon, and how he's supposedly considering taking down his videos because he's afraid of GW doing it... well why are the videos still up years later? Because they make him money.
Bitching about GW not having respect for their setting, changing and corrupting "established lore" the thing they've been doing continuously since Rogue Trader. Bitching about the amazon show being sanitized and how the daemoculaba doesn't fit with that, no shit it doesn't fit and the daemoculaba is fucking retarded, it's grimderp. Talks about 3d printing increasingly "taking chunks out of their market" their stock price and repeated records for revenue don't agree with that. If anything 3d printing is more of an alternative for the other games in the market that existed previously and always had, but have moved to 3d printing; as well as the miniature agnostic games that have again, always existed.
Talks about the shitty amazon LOTR show, as if that was unique when Amazon and Netflix have spent the past decade butchering IPs, including having Henry Cavill walk from a show because he was tired of fighting with the staff to stick to the material.
Then claims all of the big lore channels have watched his video but remain silent. Ok, how does he know this then?
Brings up someone working with GW again and that they have an NDA. Lots of people from professional painters to youtube channels have an NDA with GW. That doesn't mean those people know anything about how GW operates. Then claims lore channels have NDAs with GW to receive "pre-release lore and books" I've never seen that from a lore channel. They're usually far behind, especially when it comes to book releases. Complains that these channels can monetize their content, well isn't he a lore channel with almost 200k subscribers? Is he seriously expecting us to believe a faggot like Majorkill selling hentai and steroids has an agreement with GW protecting his channel?
14:00 I just realized the background noise I had been hearing was his kid. Way to try and tug on the ol' heartstrings there. Can't record a static voiceover video without your kid for 20 minutes? Come on.
These lore channels have doomed everyone! GW has resumed their attack against "the fanbase" and they've infiltrated the fanbase and discord servers by striking youtube channels of people that sell 3d printed models. Well no, unless those 3d printed models are again blatant IP issues. Compares fan content to Isstvan III purging the problematic ones... lol ok.
Talks about how he wanted to do something creative but now the warhammer logo makes him sick. Be creative with your own IP? Oh wait, that wouldn't make money. Still says he's going to finish his vraks animation, sure ok. Won't continue his horus heresy series because it'll take years and the legal threat, sure because he's only making $800 a month from it. Instead of doing his own thing, he's been making fanart for Space King, another IP that isn't his. Maybe stop trying to make money by being a fan of shit then? I doubt Flashgitz will ever act like a big corporation with regard to their IP, but it's still just repeating the same thing of latching onto someone else's work and trying to turn a profit, the profit part being the issue the corporations have with it.
Starts talking about his daughter and that he needs to record this video with her in his lap. Why not do it when she's taking a nap?
GW is a company, they aren't his friend, your friend, my friend, etc. They do stupid shit regularly, they piss people off all the time. But this braindead idea that other people have the right to make a profit off of GWs or anyone else's work without their permission to do so is fucking absurd, especially when it comes to producing shit that is blatantly their IP. Would I like the laws to be different? Absolutely, but these laws have been in place for decades and this is a grown man who should be aware of this. I'm going to keep buying recasts, print shit, etc. but I'm not going to pretend that I'm entitled to be able to do so.
