From a MilSim perspective it makes more sense to put squad efficiency to the Sgt or other NCO equivalent, with the “Heroes,” being the commissioned officer officer equivalent and being more focused on coordinating the entire force and with other elements including base.Im not necessarily pro hero hammer, but I do think there should be a penalty for not attaching a leader to a unit, making leadership (or the concept of it) impactful.
Yeah you can have cheap scoring units, but they should suffer from lack of leadership. Less movement, worse save etc.
So maybe killing the unit Sgt causes unit disruption, while killing heroes causes units to act off default behavior or losing access to command points and stratagems.
But that’s if you want to go the MilSim route, which GW would never have the balls to do. They can’t even give us a proper morale system despite how important it is IRL. Can’t have Timmy’s ultramarines running off the table or Sarah’s Nids temporarily not under her control.
