Hobby question, I'm picking up some nighthaunt and want to paint them in blacklight paint, any brand suggestions?

Seeing these pictures makes me really want to pick up the old cardboard terrain they had way back when
Would be willing to bet the 11th ed launch box will pay homage to the cardboard terrain judging from the KT starter set

Boltgun 2 announced, except you now play as a Sister of Battle
So this is the second proper Sisters game? The old VR game reused assets from the mobile Freeblade game.
I was going to mention that. I didn't know it used mobile game assets, but supposedly it was decent enough.

I miss these oldhammer images, the goblin green matts were classic looking. Although I did get to play 40k with lotr terrain at a gamestore recently.
The look of tables did improve over time imo. That said, a lot of old 40k was cobbled together from fantasy bits, and in my recent terrain building journey, I have learned of "universal" terrain, Ie. grass hills, ruined building, forests. 40k you can basically get away with the same stuff.

Yes, I could always just run some numbers to upscale the table and ability ranges to match the new modern size of the miniatures,
You wouldn't need to do that. Just use the same stats as before. I'm sure if you crunched the numbers there could be some advantages and disadvantages, but overall any differences should even out. If it really bothers you, you could increase the size of the blast templates to compensate. If you're playing oldhammer, you're not going to be playing hyper competitive tournament tards.

The bigger problem (aside from finding players) would be figuring out which minis to use. I imagine this would be straight forward for most cases, but a real pain for others.

Seeing these pictures makes me really want to pick up the old cardboard terrain they had way back when. It's pretty expensive but looks good along side the old plastic palm trees and foam ball cactus.
You can get card terrain these days. I think it's battle systems that makes it?

As for the plastic palm trees. I've been tempted to buy those buckets of dinosaur toys and taking the trees from them.

I decided to put aside my first impressions of ADB and started The First Heretic. Emperor help me, I'm kinda starting to like Lorgar. He's nothing if not earnest.

Why did Big E decide to wait 100 years before shitting on Lorgar's life's work? He grew up on Planet Jerusalem, could at least help him off-ramp from his religion to the Imperial Truth.

I realized this because I actually completed 99% of the Freeblade game (the only map I couldn't get all stars on is the one with the last Ork boss). However, I instantly recognized that the animation used for the Chaos Decimator and the Brass Scorpion is the same one from Freeblade.

Seeing the trailer again, I think the Sister will be a glass cannon version of the base Malun Caedo, rather than just a reskin, with her faster movement and the demolition charge. That's a nice choice, the big problem I had with Boltgun was that you got no new enemy or weapon after Episode 2, so you face a last gamut of maps which use the same enemies. That isn't a problem in games like classic Doom, with maps rarely taking over 10 minutes, but Boltgun takes much longer to 100%

Because if the emperor weren't a huge fuckup, he wouldn't have had a bunch of primarchs and their legions turn traitor at the drop of a hat. Such is the cost of trying to back-fill lore long after the basic ideas have been set in stone.

Going through Crusaders of Dorn and this bit made me lol hard.

He held its good arm down, and closed his other hand around its throat. "Suffer not the unclean to live. Suffer not the alien. Suffer not the usurper of worlds". The Ork thrashed about, but Brusc would not be dislodged. His armored fingers dug deeply into its throat, dark blood ran over them. He wrenched backwards, ripping out its throat.
"OH LORD EMPEROR!" he cried, holding up the scrap of flesh. "ACCEPT THIS TOKEN OF BLOOD!"

The worst thing is Emps should’ve been able to smell that Colchis was a tainted world and that the two most powerful non-Lorgar members of the legion are steeped in Chaos.

Funny as hell that the choir boy primarch becomes a smug little shit who’s subconsciously mimicking Horus and tries to replace the man he’s always been a little version of (bald charisma primarch with a “savage” legion and a forced revelation, wielding a mace), Warhammer is nothing if not hilarious.

How is Warhammer World/GWHQ?

Is there anything else to do in Nottingham?

Asking because a family friend has gotten into "extreme day trips". Those aren't as cool as they sound. It's basically going to some place for a day, or over night, on short notice. Go to Paris on a whim. Visit the Louvre, see the Eiffel tower, get stabbed by an immigrant, then return home the same day.

So many Warhammer fans claim to want to go to GWHQ but never do. It's like all the weebs that claim they want to visit Japan but never do. So might consider going and talking this family friend. They aren't Warhammer fans so I'd want something else to do, unless it's normie friendly.

AFAIK they're separate. But like Elder Scrolls and Fallout, they'll have occasional easter eggs and call-outs to each other.
You also get the goofiness of Skaven accidentally calling up some Eldar on a farsqueaker and one-offs of the daemons being the same characters (used to be they actually were the same characters going into both settings). So Fulgrim could be cocaine-railing N’kari then N’kari is going to go be in Total War.

But Be’lakor kinda breaks that fun because he’s a xeno in 40k.

Was cooking dinner, auto play kicked over to a new video and it's...
The flashgitz guys doing no effort lore slop videos on their 2nd channel reading wiki entries, and seemingly knowing fuck all beyond the basics for 40k. Unfortunately it seems this faggotry will likely continue since they seem to be able to get 250k views a video reading wiki entries.

Please understand they need this sloptent ad rev if they wish to make more space king.

These videos only exist because unfortunately people watch them.

Lore vids stream need to do 2 things.
1. Deliver lore.
2. Deliver it in a way that works for the viewer.

A damning indictment on the hobby when slop gets these views.

Ive considered listening to audio books whilst I hobby but between following lolcows, real life and being a rabid physical media enjoyer, I've never gone through with the search of quality 40k channels that work for me.

That should have been pretty obvious since Space King is a very surface level parody. It's what you'd get if you told someone to explain warhammer after having them listen to Luetin's "wtf is warhammer" video or one of Bricky's introduction vids.

"The king of space or whatever has his space warriors and they steal boys and pump them full of holy whatevers to make them psycho killers who are racist and they're gay or hate women or something?"

There's funny bits but it is what it is.
