White Scar primer (i was using it for other models in a priming session), Macragge Blue (seemed appropriate), Calgar Blue highlights (not great with cheap brush) with Tyran Blue all over. That's a real nice blue

have you considered using a dark purple wash? It would provide shadows without being black, and stand out with all the blue. You'd have to be more purposeful and careful in applying the wash though.White Scar primer (i was using it for other models in a priming session), Macragge Blue (seemed appropriate), Calgar Blue highlights (not great with cheap brush) with Tyran Blue all over.
I am an avid believer in washes being a match for the colour or im tinting it a certain way on purpose. Nuln Oil doesnt belong on everything.
I use wraithbone or just black on primers depending on what I’m doing. I used to use mechanicus standard grey starting out because I saw everyone using them in videos but I never could tell if the damn models were primed or not because I thinned my paints and couldn’t tell the difference.White Scar primer
I'm a Wraithbone stan through and through, and black primer is quite nice for other applications, but I've been using White Scar for Emperor's Children because it makes the bright contrasts really pop on their armor.I use wraithbone or just black on primers depending on what I’m doing. Ive always found a really nice brown to be an effective basecoat/initial color for most applications. It provides a warm depth that grey just doesnt. The alternate with cool colors would probably be a deep purple or even an inky sort of blue.I really rate Wraithbone, I just used White Scar since i was already using it on Shining Spears (99% white), which meant I also used it for Windriders (want a bright red).
Im also going to try Grey Seer since my Vallejo Ghost Grey will be harder to apply to a bigger/awkward model. Mid grey gives best of both worlds.
Black primer is fine (Vallejo or Citadel) but i prefer Vallejo German Panzer Grey or Mechanicus Standard grey since full black primer makes it harder to shift up and can kill vibrant colours. EC and BA are good cases for it when you want a strong purple or red, black takes it all away.
Half way through my Krieg kill team with mech standard grey I used karak stone as a primer and enjoyed how things turned out so much I used it on my Ork Kommando team. It’s definitely a difference in the end. Still stick to my wraithbone but it was my beginning into painting while wanting to get into things for years.Ive always found a really nice brown to be an effective basecoat/initial color for most applications. 40k games are always middleware, made by incompetent retards. The bigger the scope, the greater the letdown.I've never played any Total War games. I saw the trailer for Total War 40K and thought "this looks sick." I saw the trailer of Dawn of War IV and thought "this looks sick." I started watching Total War Warhammer playthroughs and thought "this looks sick."
Can anybody tell me why people seem to be really mad and doomerish that these games are coming out? Every time I'm seeing posts about it comments are weirdly negative with low expectations. Does Total War actually suck and I'm just a fool?
1) Total War has been having a rough time for quite a while now, with Warhammer 3 in particular having several absolutely massive shitshows on it's own. As an example of how bad it got, it was recently discovered that several factions campaign AI was straight up broken, with them completely unable to do anything, and it wasn't until the community went ballistic over it that patches were rushed out to address it instead of it being left to fester for months until the next scheduled round of major updates. Can anybody tell me why people seem to be really mad and doomerish that these games are coming out? This, there’s a reason some of the best Warhammer games are mods.1) Total War has been having a rough time for quite a while now, with Warhammer 3 in particular having several absolutely massive shitshows on it's own. 2)40k will likely not translate well into a Total War style game IMO.
Aside from the many, many problems with the games...I've never played any Total War games. I saw the trailer for Total War 40K and thought "this looks sick." The Total war franchise has been somewhat hit and miss lately. Another issue might be they're releasing it for consoles so the interface probably isn't the best either, also it's probably chopped up heavily for dlc as well.I've never played any Total War games. Apart from the countless reasons other people here have listed, we are talking about CA here, remember Hyenas ?Can anybody tell me why people seem to be really mad and doomerish that these games are coming out? This is funny because I'm a Paradox autist and Total War keeps reminding me of Stellaris with the end game crises and role play factions and all that.Stellaris in particular, the only game I can Chaos properly
I've tried to get into TW when TWW 1 dropped and again when 3 hit, but I couldn't get over how every snippet of gameplay felt like watching fish in an aquarium. Maybe that's just an early game problem, or maybe that IS the appeal I dont know. It certainly looks great visually. The Total war franchise has been somewhat hit and miss lately. I'd probably say yes and yes. It's fun to watch my little rats snipe people and throwing bombs everywhere. But you also have less things to do in battle early on, as your leader/heroes aren't really online until they get some levels to spend. Total war oldheads and 40k fans can probably bond over their distaste for herohammer but it's too much fun for me to decimate multiple units as someone like skarbrand before my own army even meets theirs. I wonder how faction leaders will work in this new one. I don't need primarchs but If they release thousand sons and I don't get to make a cabal of sorcerers led by Ahriman I will not be a happy camper. That custom faction feature better be fuckin good CA.Maybe that's just an early game problem, or maybe that IS the appeal I dont know.
