Why did iron kingdoms never go multi-media?
They tried, multiple times.

The novel writing was on par with mediocre Black Library writing but never had any of the gems that GW manages to find as far as authors or individual books/stories. They did some of them as audibooks, but I don't beleive they ever did any audio dramas or anything along those lines. Also tried using twitter for posting "micro-fiction" during their mk 3 end times event instead of writing a proper book for it, that just resulted in a disorganized mess

They kickstarted a videogame themselves in 2013 that actually was released and it was kind of awful(it wasn't quite 1:1 with the tabletop but tried to emulate that experience and was just clunky. The studio they went with also sucked and for a 2014 videogame managed to have characters without moving mouths for dialogue heavy cut scenes, shit like that. It's still on Steam for $20 I think? I picked it up when it was on sale a while back for something like $2 and it's pretty crap(lighting issues, weird audio problems, it's barely playable currently as far as I'm aware but I haven't tried recently).

They tried to go back to the TTRPG setting in 2021 via kickstarter for D&D 5e, got that out the door along with another 2-3 later but they all kinda fell flat. I've never seen any discussion about them other than that they exist. Could be good, and it's what got Privateer Press started but just no marketing or interest.

They did an animated short back in 2017 but that never picked up enough views to really take off and was right when the company began falling apart so unless they were to get some outside investment a series was never going to happen.
When you can't get interest in your IP with a video of a couple of chicks in a cat fight while big stompy robots beat eachother up, something is wrong.

They did some board game stuff for Iron Kingdoms in 2015, as well as a deckbuilder game I think it was(High Command)? And they also did their pseudo bloodbowl warjack football game thing(Grind), but again this stuff just never took off.

Their painting videos were pretty decent, but being warmachine/hordes specific weren't ever going to do well for people searching painting videos. They also tried live streaming for a bit, the painting stuff was alright, but the weekly dev chats, staff games, and event streams were all while the game and company were falling apart before covid. Here's an example of one of their event live streams
Static overhead camera, 1/4 of the screen taken up with a chess clock. More measuring devices on the table than terrain. 4x4 board, but they're only really playing on the center of it. It's even less interesting to look at than a 40k event stream where now they've got remote controlled PTZ cameras on rails along the table in addition to a couple overhead camera views, mics on players, someone with a telestrator like it's an NFL game, etc.

About the only thing they didn't do was an in-house band like GW did ages ago(other than the one time their painting team posted a video as a joke). At one point they even partnered with Penny Arcade who did a couple comics about it over the years, and sponsored a tournament(also livestreamed) and still couldn't get anyone interested in it. At least one major flaw that stands out to me from this whole mess(and again, this isn't even getting into their ridiculous business failings) was having their narrative setting not being named or labeled the same as their miniatures game. Imagine if 40k books were labeled as if they belonged to a completely different franchise. I guess people were supposed to see the Iron Kingdoms logo and the silhouette of a warjack and just know that was tied to the miniatures? And then on top of that half of the content was branded with the Privateer Press pirate logo, so people were supposed to assume that stuff wasn't actually pirate themed and tied to their minis game and TTRPG setting? GW had the sense to make sure the name "Warhammer" was on everything to the point of re-branding their stores from GW to Warhammer because from an outside perspective you can look at the warhammer scifi logo, the fantasy version, etc. and figure out which goes together even with logo changes over the years.

I mean, you're clearly a faggot, uptight cunt and prob a closet tranny with how hard you whine. So, why arent ya fucking off?
I've got no problem calling out the non players who just make up excuses. Humble Architect isn't that. Calm the fuck down.

All seriousness, I think we’re on the same page, for the most part, just different angles of approach. I get the “hold your ground” argument, I’ve just never had to deal with it, a games store putting the tranny flag up, perverts in dresses and manic furries, the works.

I’m from a town of under 2000. I was seven before I saw a nigger, twenty before I saw an IRL tranny. It’s seven hours to my nearest GW store. So I’ve never experienced the struggle.

Sure, and I get that. It's why I said in response to the other guy that if he actually had clubs to play at(since they're a thing in places) then play there. Obviously the game store isn't the only place to go play, and if you've got a bunch of local friends who play often enough to satisfy how often you want to play, great. As far as the "hold your ground" thing... like I said most of the time that's not even necessary since the reddit trannies rarely actually engage with anyone in the outside world, let alone actually play shit like 40k since it requires interacting with other people and that alone is enough to filter out most of them.

I think the funniest part about all of this is the assumption that I was mad at the other guy. No, I'm not mad. I'm trying to tell him to shit or get off the pot. Stop talking about the possibility of playing and just go fucking do it already. The faggots want to pretend they're 50% of the population or whatever, clearly they aren't. The more normal people who occupy gaming spaces, and just fucking ignore them means they'll be diluted. Will they ever get eradicated? Unfortunately not, but they can sure as fuck be minimized and ignored. Store selling tranny manga? If enough people actually bought other shit and I don't just mean buying GW stuff, they wouldn't have the shelf space to waste on such bullshit because it'd be occupied with models, board games, paints, etc. It doesn't even make sense in my mind for a game store to even be selling that shit in the first place unless they don't make enough money on anything else since shelf space in a retail environment is valuable. I'm not saying he's lying about the store selling this shit, but the only reason they would be selling it is if it made money when other product categories didn't.

Nigger I live in Canada as a white straight male my governement hates me. Get your head out of your ass. You liberals live in a land of delusion. 😒
Said the guy who lives in a country that houses more Nazis than South America. Again, must be nice to have a victim complex.

Anyway, back to 40k stuff. Did someone say we're getting new Nobz models?

It works fine as is
It doesnt which is why Grizzled Vets revamped the rules.
It doesn't have to be Drier, and I explained why it doesn't need to be Drier and how you can even use a krieg model if you really want to.
You can play pretend all you want, the rules dont support it. You can model and proxy all you like until someone says you can't. You'd know if you actually played in person instead of pretend to online. People hate proxies because its used maliciously.
Are you going to continue to fail to understand how the army works in 10th?
I understand it completely.
So yes, show me where the officer is required to be attached to the regiment or squadron unit?
Every army would love for your centerpiece HQ to not have 20 additional ablative wounds so he won't last a single turn.
It increases the number of orders that officers can give by 1, what the fuck are you talking about "opening up possibilities"?
Yes a literal doubling of orders and the ability to give functionally useful orders that doesnt exist completely changes how they work. You read rules piecemeal and fail to understand how they combine.
So yeah, I'll keep my opinions on the functionality of guard based on actually playing, and others who do, rather than you who doesn't know wtf they're talking about
Or youll jerk yourself raw instead of actually playing games.
If you can't figure out how to proxy/kitbash an entire guard army to look like whatever regiment you want, I can't help you.
If you don't understand why that doesnt work in practice it's because you are an extremely online hobby tourist.

If you setup a game, and find out they are some weirdo tranny that keeps wanting to talk politics or whatever the hell instead of just playing the game ok you've blown 3 hours, just avoid that person in the future.
Until they cry that you're a transphobe and you get kicked out by a bunch of weak willed liberal "accept everyone no matter hew toxic" nerds. Calling people hobby tourists when you've never interacted with the public is hilarious self ownage.
I guess? To me it sounds like actual transphobia. I'm not afraid of trannies, and I'm not going to let them dictate what I do and don't do.
Its probably because you are one.

Malicious proxies? Are you fucking kidding me? LOL. If the model is roughly the same size, and on the correct base(Dreir and Leontus do come with different bases), and you build up for a minor height difference which isn't usually even an issue... what the fuck would the "malicious" part even be?
Screenshot 2026-01-08 013715.png

Dreir even comes with a sword held out as an option so he would even meet WYSWYG. You literally have no fucking idea how the game works, and apparently what the damned models even look like with your idiotic complaints. No one except the most unlikable of autists gives a fuck about proxies, even at Warhammer World(so long as they're GW models, and Dreir is) which would be the most uptight about that shit due to being part of GWs headquarters, RTTs, GTs, supermajors, etc. as long as they're roughly the same size and on the correct base like I said. I'm not even going to acknowledge the rest of your post because you've clearly proven you have no fucking idea what you're talking about.

"People hate proxies because its used maliciously."

Holy fucking shit lol. So many non playing retards who want to just prove they don't fucking play because they're talking out of their ass.

No denial of being a tranny but mad about basic multi-player realities. Many such cases.

Yes no one has ever said "this unit counts as something else and then conveniently "forgotten" what its actual rules are mid game. You keep exposing yourself as having no social interaction because you are an autistic tranny retard.

I'm a tranny because I've repeatedly stated that I hate trannies?

And how the fuck does someone forget what the rules are or what the model represents when it's in the fucking list? Why would you have Dreir in the list if you're using him as a proxy for Leontus? Or are you so fucking clueless about the game that you fail to realize having a list is part of playing the game? or that in 2026(even though this has been the case for years) you can just look this shit up on your phone? The same device that if you're using New Recruit or even the GW app would have your list and the rules for the models in the list?

And if you're not using a list for whatever the fuck reason, how would that be any different than not using proxies, and just mixing up which detachment, enhancements, or unit options you have?

Claims to play 40k yet doesn't know what the fuck a list is. Keep going, continue proving you don't know wtf you're talking about. What next, not knowing what a dice tray is, or what dice are used to play? This basic shit doesn't have anything to do with competitive tourney games or anything either, it's fucking fundamental.

@Humble Architect This is the sort of shit I mean with these non participants. At a glance I also saw some shit in their post about getting kicked out of a game store by liberals... how? Just don't fucking "Heil Hitler" in the store or call the dumb tranny in the corner a dumb tranny out loud, bathe, and no one is going to kick you out of a store. Sounds like dumb shit listening to that Northern Exile hobby nightmares crap where people just make up bullshit stories that never fucking happened and submit them to be read on youtube.

So I am back from the SM2 break (which I do every other week), and I still dislike how long it takes to upgrade the guns. Sure, if a single battle upgraded a gun it would be shit, but you can legit go from 1 to 25 after the first prestige before getting any gun to max level, since all I got to raise now are Primary and 2 meelee weapons, I am doing this: getting to gold (which is around level 23), and them, when restarting for the next prestige, just raising another gun to gold.

I'm a tranny because I've repeatedly stated that I hate trannies?
You are a tranny because you've never had any of the most common negative experiences in dealing with the nerd public, which means you are the negative experience. So show us your programmer socks you autistic retard.
And how the fuck does someone forget what the rules are or what the model represents when it's in the fucking list?
"Why would someone lie about something ambiguous for advantage?"

really shooting yourself in the foot.
And if you're not using a list for whatever the fuck reason, how would that be any different than not using proxies, and just mixing up which detachment, enhancements, or unit options you have?
People don't autisticslly look at rules and lists the entire game. In fact it never happens that people cheat in tournaments where it will be caught. Oh wait that happens constantly. Again, you accuse people of not knowing anything while exposing your own misunderstanding of basic gameplay.
Claims to play 40k yet doesn't know what the fuck a list is. Keep going, continue proving you don't know wtf you're talking about.
Keep not understanding what normal rational human behavior is because you've never experienced it before.

That's what happens when a game developer doesn't respect your time spent playing their game and designs shit to maximize how much engagement they get from players in the hopes that they'll get baited into MTX.

You are a tranny because you've never had any of the most common negative experiences in dealing with the nerd public, which means you are the negative experience. So show us your programmer socks you autistic retard.
Because I'm not some non-confrontational retard, I have no issue telling someone to fuck off for trying to touch my models, to tell someone to shut up about their politics because I'm there to game and not discuss the evening news, or just tell someone they fucking stink. Why complain about the shit when you can just tell them to stop? What fucking event or store is going to kick someone out for complaining about some smelly fuck stinking up the place for everyone else?
"Why would someone lie about something ambiguous for advantage?"

really shooting yourself in the foot.
So you check their list retard. No one has a reason to hide their list or rules unless they're trying to cheat.

I've never said people don't cheat. And they do, and one way people get away with it is not checking lists. You know why people don't check lists? Because they're non-confrontational idiots that simply won't ask to see the damned list. Yes, you should have your rules readily available because it's 2026 and you can get them for free on your phone so when asked you can just open the app or website and point to it. There's no more excuse about not wanting to carry around a half dozen books and magazines anymore for your rules and this hasn't been the case for years. And if I don't believe you and you insist on not showing me your list and rules, I can look the shit up myself on New Recruit or Waha and if it's an event just ask the TO/judge to force you to show me your shit or you get kicked out for either cheating, or if not cheating just being stupid and getting flagged for unsportsmanlike behavior. You'd know this if you actually fucking played.
Keep not understanding what normal rational human behavior is because you've never experienced it before.
Sure ok pal. You keep on thinking that, likely not having touched the fucking game in a decade(if that), just parroting bullshit you see online.

Yeah you are, internet tough guy. You've already admitted to not experiencing the most common and basic negative shit that happens with any group of strangers. So what part are you lying about?
So you check their list retard. No one has a reason to hide their list or rules unless they're trying to cheat.
"So my group of 20 troops is 15 lasgun shots, 1 pistol, 2 melts, and a plasma"

"This group of 20 troops is 15 shots, 1 pistol, 1 melta, and 2 plasma" the next turn.

Too bad he is using proxies so you dont notice because you are trying to keep the game going. Replace it with whatever stupid fantasy term you want for whatever army.
I've never said people don't cheat.
You admit to never it being a problem, so what are you lying about internet bad ass?

Talk to me when you don't pay for sex, you tranny faggot retard. Also a bold claim from someone who doesn't understand that doubling the orders from HQ unit is actually a huge buff to the entire army.

I'm reminded of seeing mention by some competitive source that one of the most common questions to TOs in recent months has been "can I run the Lion as Guilliman?" and that the answer is almost invariably "yes".
So my group of 20 troops is 15 lasgun shots, 1 pistol, 2 melts, and a plasma"

This is solved by reading the list and establishing which weaponry represents what on the unit before the game, provided that the proxies are at least modelled with the correct number of models with each loadout. In that sense, it's not exactly any different to going over an official unit from an army with which your opponent is unfamiliar - can the average player really distinguish fluently between the standard equipment of a less-popular xenos faction like Deldar (or even the fairly popular Tyranids)?

I have been out of the hobby for awhile due to IRL health stuff but I am glad to see everyone here is as calm, cool and collected as I remember.

Anecdotal but I see more troons at my (two) LGSs than I did in the entire venue at adepticon last year lol. Both of my LGSs are infested. I haven't been able to play any wargames in awhile in general though and it makes me a bit sad.

If you want to play a funny game give yourself three guesses as to which state in the USA I live in. If you guess wrong drop a chrischan emote or something idk.

Kentucky

Oh right I forgot why I was even posting after reading the cafeteria foodfight going on in here right now.

@Tri-Tachyon'sClown

Yeah I saw the Trench Crusade video and wanted to come here to see if anyone could corroborate what was said about resin traps and delayed kickstarter claims made in that video. Like I mentioned above I have been out of wargaming for a bit and have been catching myself up. They apparently made plastics which seems like a good thing, no? I certainly didn't back because I think 3D prints aren't worth the pocket change they are printed from for a variety of reasons. I know Trench Crusade obviously had a lot of other "whoopsies" they did even back a year ago and was wondering if they ever improved the rules beyond "mordheim but boring"?

Which is why a relative level of WYS is important. 40k games are 2 to 3 hours long, that's plenty of time for mistakes both malicious and not. People get caught flagrantly cheating at GT where you have pre-sent lists and judges, constantly. It happened about once every few months last year alone.

I remember going to the 8th release event and watching one tranny rule the nerd roost just because it forced them all to walk on eggshells.

Yeah you are, internet tough guy. You've already admitted to not experiencing the most common and basic negative shit that happens with any group of strangers. So what part are you lying about?
How did I admit whatever the fuck you're talking about? I just admitted I've run into bullshit, I just don't put up with it if I don't have to.
"So my group of 20 troops is 15 lasgun shots, 1 pistol, 2 melts, and a plasma"

"This group of 20 troops is 15 shots, 1 pistol, 1 melta, and 2 plasma" the next turn.

So now you're too stupid to understand that proxies can meet WYSIWYG requirements? And if you are using proxies that don't mean WYSIWYG, then you need to appropriately mark shit with tokens, rubber bands, post-it notes, torn bits of paper with shit taped to models. I already mentioned WYSIWYG, but I guess you didn't notice because you don't know what the fuck you're talking about. This is the same sort of shit you'd do with a tactical squad and wanting to play it with a heavy weapon or an option you wouldn't normally have and don't have a model for. Just as @Penne Dreadful also pointed out to you above.
You admit to never it being a problem, so what are you lying about internet bad ass?
How did I say it wasn't a problem? I mentioned how to deal with one specific form of cheating. I didn't say shit about loaded dice or whatever, and everyone knows about the toilet dice incident by now. I'd be full of shit to pretend that didn't happen. But you know what you do if you think your opponent has cheat dice? You ask to see the fucking dice, or at an event call the TO/Judge and people do call for a TO/Judge at times which is how these people get caught. Other methods of cheating, not using a dice tray and rolling behind models/terrain(I predicted you wouldn't know wtf a dice try is, go figure), nudging models which you catch just by paying attention to the game, people not measuring correctly like saying they're moving 10 inches and moving 12 which again you catch by just watching them play. Again you'd know this if you actually played.
Talk to me when you don't pay for sex, you tranny faggot retard.
Can you just get the fuck out of this thread instead of cluttering it with shit showing that you have no idea what the fuck you're talking about?
Which is why a relative level of WYS is important. 40k games are 2 to 3 hours long, that's plenty of time for mistakes both malicious and not. People get caught flagrantly cheating at GT where you have pre-sent lists and judges, constantly. It happened about once every few months last year alone.
"relative level"? WYSIWYG doesn't have levels, that's the fucking point. If it did, it wouldn't be WYSIWYG. The "See" and "Get" need to match. And yeah, cheating happens, and gets caught when people nut up and contact the judges to call it the fuck out instead of sitting and accepting it.

In that sense, it's not exactly any different to going over an official unit from an army with which your opponent is unfamiliar - can the average player really distinguish fluently between the standard equipment of a less-popular xenos faction like Deldar (or even the fairly popular Tyranids)?
Even if most people can't identify xenos guns(let's be realistic, most can't unless it's their own faction) that's still resolved by a unit of 10 guys having 7 guns that look the same, 2 guns that look different, and a third gun that looks different still and simply comparing it to the list. I don't need to know what a fleshborer looks like compared to a devourer, or a strangleweb, or whatever as long as I can see the guns are different and those differences match the list. It's still possible to mix shit up with a loadout of 5/1/1/1 when it comes to all of the one-off guns, but at that point it's termagants(in my example)... if it's important enough to matter just look up what the options are supposed to look like. For tac marines a las cannon vs a rocket launcher should be obvious just as a plasma and melta should be obvious compared to a lasgun for guard.

I have been out of the hobby for awhile due to IRL health stuff but I am glad to see everyone here is as calm, cool and collected as I remember.

If I had to guess why the troons there so heavily infest the game stores there, it's because they don't have anything else to do without being called out for their troonery
