Just put a Warhammer World in Vegas, it’d be the most honest place to put it. That town needs another booster shot anyway.

Sports chads and Warhammer autists, demons to some, angels to struggling Vegas tourist traps.

Or don’t even put it in the States, follow the advice of the audience GW thinks buys their crap and put it somewhere diverse, cultured and not “imperialistic” at all, Tijuana would make a great place for it.
I missed this earlier, but Verkos Vault is already supposed to be opening in vegas eventually. The guy setting it up is a rich(like easily 8 figures or more absolutely loaded, I think from finance shit?) autist who has been collecting minis from commission painters(like the people on https://www.puttyandpaint.com/ ) for years, wants to setup a retail area for limited run resin minis, painting classes, etc. Assuming it does ever open(they're claiming 2026 now), I'm definitely going to check that shit out.

This is the guy I'm talking about.

It's literally just a corporation expanding its brand into a new major market, but of course, it has to be a tacit endorsement of the evil fascist Drumpf to these people.
They're acting like they opened it in fuckin Saudi Arabia or something.

The Orange Man arresting a dictator that everyone else hated 5 seconds before he did it doesn't suddenly make the US a demilitarized zone that's putting minorities in gas chambers.

It's just typical trump derangement syndrome. The reddit posts and elsewhere are morons posting about how they'd get scooped up and detained by ICE for visiting the US, killed in the street by roving anti trans hit squads, the usual bullshit all while forgetting that we have elections every 4 years and they can just wait till Trump is out of office if they're actually that fucking paranoid. You know, just like all of the retarded celebrities that said they would be moving out of the US both times he got elected and only one actually did(Rosie O'Donnell). Reddit and bluesky would have you think that the average white person with a tan is brown enough to get black bagged by ICE and sent to gitmo because all they want to do is complain on social media all day about anything and everything.

Hilariously if a bunch of retarded LGHDTV people also want to avoid going somewhere gaming related just because of shit in the vicinity and not even on the door, fuck 'em. They probably don't actually build/read/play anyway. No 40k, WHFB, AoS, KT, HH, etc. just bitching and moaning about it and anything surrounding it. Basically NPCs.

Imagine the fun of setting up dioramas with his collection. Fucking imagine it.

Would you have them just sit on their hands and not do anything until such a time as you arbitrarily decide that the political climate is right, just in case the stupid plastic toy soldiers might inspire a bunch of heckin' Nazis to do a heckin' hate crime?
I genuinely hope he never finds work in writing ever again one of these days. Retards like this are going to make me wait a while before going to that store because you just know there's going to be a bunch of assclowns stalking the area waiting to screech at people for buying something there. INB4 someone vandalized the building.
I'm glad it's opening in D.C. The amount of seething it's causing and how many people are revealing themselves (once again) to be some of the most mentally unstable, terminally online, politically mush brained is as hilarious as it is sad.

Once upon a time I would have called it "controlled opposition" but the amount of brainwashed retarded suffering from TDS makes me realize that they don't even need to do that anymore. People batting for a dictator to own the Orange Man.
It's a Warhammer store you muppets, God I hate people.
Kek.

Tourists who want to use Warhammer of all things to push their propaganda, can't make this shit up. Sadly it does go both ways (in terms of politisperging) but one side is far more obvious with their attempted corruption of anything nerd culture related.

I'd watch a live stream of him doing that. I guarantee you that you can play Apocalypse and Epic games with just his models. Shit I want to see that happen.
I've been currently looking at the introductory set.
Personally I don't recommend it unless you just want to paint Blueberries and Space Bugs, might help test your painting skills. But if you also want to play the game I can't recommend it, not even the "Ultimate" starter set.
Would also recommend looking up how to play Killteam to start before you start building armies, lower cost, less painting if you end up not liking to paint, overall less investment if you end up not liking any of this. If you want to just play the normal wargame (which you may like more or less than Killteam), find a faction you like visually, look up how they play, and if you like how they play get a combat patrol of them (if you can, remember this hobby is a money sink). There's also multiple ways to enjoy 40k in case painting isn't for you or you don't like the wargame so don't feel bad if a particular aspect of the hobby isn't for you. They still give out a free monthly mini at Warhammer stores by the way, latest one is...a Battleclade Servitor from what I last saw so you can try getting that, some paints, and painting that model for practice and to see if you like painting.

Yeah, and the craziest part is that setting up his museum isn't because he's done. His discord is setup to have people posting pictures of minis... some of which have been shipped to him, others are just so he can browse prospects and no shit
Q: How can artists sell a piece to Verko’s Vault?
A:
Come to a contest we are sponsoring, such as at LVO, Nova Open’s Capital Palette, Kublacon, and others. We have Vault representatives attending these shows looking for pieces to possibly acquire.,
Be introduced by a current Vault Artist.,
Post your finished work in the Grand Gallery channel here in the Discord. Gary and the team peruse the channel and may develop interest in your work.,
Please do not solicit Verko's team members with direct messages of offers and introductions.
The guy has fucking recruiters going to events.

Maybe not. Wargaming minis he only buys as dioramas or pieces on plinths. Nothing on gaming bases. He's into hoarding and promoting the art side, not much much the wargaming part.

He does currently have the office/class area of the place open and has people hosting paint classes there, as well as general hobby nights. But I wouldn't fly to Vegas just for that. Once it's open... fuck yeah I'd fly there to spend a day checking it out and then another day taking some lessons from a master painter.

I've always wanted to get into Warhammer 40k since I was a child, is there any Starter sets you guys would recommend for a total noob?
Unpopular opinion. Get the current killteam starter (space marines vs death guard).

The official starter sets aren't horrible either.

As for other bits. I recommend a pair of clippers (from a hardware or hobby shop, not GW), and some Tamiya cement. Optionally a knife/scalpel from a hardware shop. Don't break the bank early on.

Exactly what this thread needed, more incoherent culture war sperging. I'd rather be dealing with that space wolf decalfag

Sorry. Is related to me getting a game.

Okay, how is it a gayshop? Do they sell strap on dildos or gay sex books?
Pride flags, calarts, and trans shit everywhere. Nerd stuff limited to the entrance, and pushed away into corners. More below.

The thing is that you are always going to have sexual and gender minorities in our niche hobbies. Those on the margins of society, whether by identity or interests, tend to group together. Not to mention the autism.

The way to prevent a game shop from becoming a gay shop is to ensure that the space is for gaming. If a trans person brings their army for a game and they are just there to game, their identity doesn’t matter. If they come with an agenda, then you enforce rules of behavior.
That I get. I'm no stranger to furries and gays (but I repeat myself) and don't have a problem with them like a lot of KF does.

The issue is more that it's slim pickings where I live. The only group is a place that advertises as a "safe space" for "LGBTQIA+ folx" that charge an outragous amount per game. The rest are doa. There was a big "battle centre" that was a ghost town before they closed. The game tables at a local warhammer retailer is a single 3x2 card table with no terrain in a corner room that is always empty. Where there used to be a notice board for local hobby groups is now just heckin valid pride shit and cons that happened months ago. And of course, the local GWs removed their gaming tables and claim that there's no space to run a game these days.

Even the gay shop I shop I mentioned doesn't seem to run their former DnD and MTG games. They might, but they don't advertise it, and there isn't room for gaming tables any more.

The best I can do is a board game meet that plays euro games, and will allow board game like wargames. Space Hulk, Monsterpocalypse, and Nexus Ops were played over the years. I might be able to swing a game of Spearhead there since it might be boardgame enough.

Anyway, update on my base dilemma. I bought a pack of GW 28mm rounds (says 28.5 on the pack) as they were cheap enough. And I feel scammed.

Here's a model on a 25mm round warlord base.
Base Sized.jpg
Same is true with 25mm renedra bases as well. Maybe that tiny little bevel at the bottom makes up the difference? Still, I'm in the process of basing a unit on them. Though given the minis are about £1 (or £1.50) each, it's not an insignificant proportion of cost per mini.

I also saw another product. GW textured bases for sale and they look nice. Don't know how they are.

GW 32mm textured bases = 35p per base
GW 28mm = 32p per base
WGA 25/28mm textured = 24p per base
Warlord 25mm (pictured) = 16p per base
Generic brand GW bases = 15p* per base (requires postage)
Rendra (round or textured) 25mm or 30mm = 8p per base

I also don't know the theme I should go with. That would influence my decision.
Edit: It's a penal legion. So convicts in orange jumpsuits, and guys in leather long coats. Mass infantry.

I'm pretty sure it's the part including the bevel from GW's measurements, which looks like it'd be right(would only be just over 1.5mm on each side to make up the difference). As far as them being 28 or 28.5, they're probably closer to 28 but GW is really shitty with some of their less used base sizes. The black 60mm bases measure 65, but the scenic 60mm bases for AoS are sold as 65, and the clear 60mm bases are actually 60. So they've got a precedent for failing to use a ruler at times. Really the most important part is that they're bigger than 1 inch or just played as being slightly bigger and unable to fit in a 1 inch gap to avoid any possible issues.

Maybe toss in 28mm MDF bases if they're an option available? I know GF9 is available pretty globally, TTCombat also does a lot of MDF products internationally as well. They won't have a bevel, and you'd need to drill them to be able to pop a magnet in, but they should be on the cheaper side in 50 or 100 packs(which may also be a problem if you end up having to buy way more than necessary).

edit: GSW might also not fuck you on shipping as bad as they do to the US

I never got why people think "Fulgrim being replaced by a no-name daemon that didn't exist until the novel was released" is good. Is it just "Chaos is for loser so my favorite genocidal general is totally a loyalist locked in the painting"? Same as the theories about the clone from Clonelord having the soul of the original, which ignores that we see other perfect clones in Faultless Blade.

Watched that video when it came out, that dude has some real hoarder issue when it comes to minis, in the best way. He could get even richer by simply giving house tours, it's crazy what he got at his place, i could spend days in there. Also love the Squidmar autists, Emil has some of the best painted minis i've ever seen (check out his video on his Ogre pirates), insanely high skill level. Loved the video where they had painting God Roman Lappat over, his "The Last Stand" is my all-time, #1 favorite Slayer Sword winning piece:

I can't be sure about what the public sentiment was at the time, but I have to imagine that the "Fulgrim got replaced by a daemon" twist was unpopular even then and assessed by GW as a mistake since it was undone by the follow-up short story from the same writer five years later.

Maybe toss in 28mm MDF bases if they're an option available?
I could, but it's the same problem. 25mm discs with no bevel. Or 30mm discs with no bevel.

but they should be on the cheaper side in 50 or 100 packs
Quick check on Amazon, 18p-30p depending on the set. I'd get better value from Renedra or Warlord, which I already have a bunch of. And 8p per is a pretty hard price to beat. I think it's £4 for a bag of 50 or something like that.

Oddly enough, if we're going autistic with it, the winner so far is WGA textured. They have the right size, are cheaper than GW, and their texture is a generic ground texture.

So they've got a precedent for failing to use a ruler at times.
Well that's stupid.

Really the most important part is that they're bigger than 1 inch or just played as being slightly bigger and unable to fit in a 1 inch gap to avoid any possible issues.
It shouldn't be a problem then. I might try to stick with official GW minis in the unlikely event I go to a tournament and leave the proxy guard for casual games.

Speaking of proxy shit. A local shop selling off the infamous Lightyear ships for £2 each. I bought one, and if they still have them, might pick up the fake drop pods too.

But I also saw these for £3 each.

I'm very tempted to grab the walker (with his 32mm pilot) and proxy it as a sentinel. I'm even tempted to pick up the Pandora toys just to loot the alien trees as terrain, but that's a bit of a waste.

This reminds me of a necron player I saw who was proxying some of their walkers with some matrix movie toys he found, those squid robot things. Looked pretty sick. As long as you're not at a GW event, like I said earlier in the thread, as long as it's on the right size base and the model is similar in size, and the weapons at least make sense(melee weapons on melee guys, guns in shooting guys, something different for heavy weapons or whatever) no one gives a shit about proxies.

Kolinsky Windsor 7 series brush in size 1 and i never looked back, the hype is real and it is worth every single cent you have to spend on it.
take good care of your brush
What’s a good guide online for brush care/buying? I’ve been searching for a good brush to drop some money on, but I’m honestly terrified I’ll burn away 20$ in a paint water cup.

Unpopular opinion. Get the current killteam starter (space marines vs death guard).
This is the way. Comes with tokens and two pretty fun teams, one being super easy to paint and the other being a reasonable beginner challenge I imagine.

I also saw another product. GW textured bases for sale and they look nice. Don't know how they are.
I for one believe making your own bases is 99% of the fun. Depending on how many you have to make, it might just be cheaper to pick up milliputt, green stuff, astrogranite equivalent, etc.
If you invest into some little bushes or cork, it’ll look way better too. Even if you buy the textured bases.

Just buy one of those white nylon paint brush sets with the drybrushes and variety pack of others. Its 15 dollars or so on Amazon or Temu. They work well enough to get you started and you are out little money when they get ruined. You can also get them at Hobby Lobby or Michael's. The biggest thing is getting a wet pallet so you can better learn paint control.

For sable brushes it is as easy as never letting paint get into the ferule (not sure if that is the correct word, the metal part of the brush that holds the bristles) and cleaning them out gently after usage. Moisten the bristles a bit, give it a few gentle strokes over a piece of brush soap to build up a fine lather (you really don't need much build-up) and then rinse it out under running, cold or at most lukewarm water. Do gentle brush strokes over the ball of your thumb under running water until you see no more paint coming out. Can reapply brush soap inbetween if the paint is stubborn.
Some guys say to leave a residue of brush soap in the bristles to preserve the sable's natural oils, some say to only use brush soap now and then. I used soap after every painting session. When you're done cleaning it roll the bristles to a point again, store the brush with the bristles pointing up or, if you're paranoid of too much moisture making its way into the ferule that way, just place it on your desk.

The brush i last used in 2017 (Kolinsky Windsor Series 7 Size 1) is still in use by my younger brother who inherited all my 40k and painting stuff. Like i said in a previous post, with a little care a high-quality sable brush will last you a lifetime. Never use it for drybrushing, drybrushing kills paint brushes, only do that with a dedicated brush.

Edit: Instead of reading all that look up YT videos, there should be thousands on this topic.

Probably the best advice if you are a total beginner though i've never been a fan of synthetic brushes. Army Painter's brush set was an immense let down, even the drybrush brushes sucked dick. Wholly agreed on the wet palette, it's a game changer. I used a dry palette for many years and wish i'd started out with a wet palette right away.

Unless you're actually wanting fancy textured bases, it kinda is. I always buy my 28mm round bases in bulk off ebay, about 100 black plastic bases for less than 10 bucks.

I should’ve clarified, I do already have quite a few brushes and even a wet palette. I feel relatively confident in my skills but still seem to get hooked tips, and I’m not quite sure if that’s the brush, me, or just always going to happen. I think I’ll look into the brush soap and just try taking better care of my brushes and maybe working on how I use them.

It is so funny that people say they don't want the Chaplain in Space Marine 2, as it would be Leandros.

You are a grown man, play as the single guy in the game who actually acts like a brainwashed child soldier.
As cool as a Chappy would be to have, he'd end up being a half assed support class like Bladeguard anyway.
Still no news on the Techmarine either. Not anything we didn't already know, anyway.

But hey at least they're wasting time, money and man power on new chapter specific heads and a battle barge expansion. That's way better than putting that effort and resource into new classes, bug fixes, weapons etc.
