Looking into it a bit, apparently /r/blacktemplars are constantly angry of being apparently black listed on the main sub like lol, I thought /r/warhammer40k would be the usual normie shit hole but I do not recall them outright screaming chud as fast as they do now. The 40k fandom is just utterly fucked now your either a axe wound tranny or super chud in your own circlejerk at this rate
The natural outcome after years of tranny janny infiltrators banning perceived wrongthinkers through the comments of the monthly tranny Space Marine top-post and other controversial topics like female Custodes. With this in mind, the reaction to the phone case and the recent announcement of DC Warhammer World becomes unsurprising. The same goes for any large subreddit. They're not normie shit holes. They're ideologically-cultivated shit holes.

On a related note, this got me curious to look at the modlist of r/warhammer40k, and I was caught by surprise.

Three obvious bots and only two seemingly authentic users. I'm used to seeing huge lists of mods when I rarely pay attention, and seeing only two for a subreddit of this size strikes me as unsustainable and very suspicious. Who exactly is RWJP (apparently a Brit named Ross Patrick), and how did he become top mod five years ago? Is there some cabal of Discord jannies that do their work extra-anonymously through AutoModerator or some such? Is this how jannies on reddit generally operate now?

In all fairness, the 40k fandom ONLINE, is fucked. IRL is

So, RWJP or as I prefer to call him, James Ross of Ferndown, UK, is shockingly not tranny, but is a u/Stale200 tier reddit powermod. The other account, robute, is just some guy from Charlottesville, who was shockingly reasonable the one time he talked to us in modmail. I think what happened is that he (wait for it) actually has a life irl, and promoted ross to head janny since he's terminally online anyway. Since ross worked as a minecraft server janny (an actual thing he brags about btw) he has just turned up all the reddit filters to max, and outsourced most of the general modding to bots (they are pretty easy to manage on reddit), but he literally trawls through every popular post anyway, just to make sure no chuddies are invading his safe space.

Look at that reddit mod physic.

But to answer you question, ross literally does it for free and does it alone. But I think he is in the r/warhammer discord and was apparently of the discord dedicated to getting horusgalaxy banned, but this was unconfirmed.

This shit is just getting nasty at this rate, culture war is nothing new for Warhammer but Warhammer is an outlier since it was always a refugee for the outcasts even amongst nerds. Star Trek? Star Wars? Sorry you guys had TV shows and hollywood movies in the 80s. 40k has always been different in that regard and is only now getting its movies and TV shows but the issue is we have to much people who argue over how they want warhammer some want it satire others want it straight forward, is it a chud setting? Does it make fun of chuds?

libtards and making unwatchable 10 hour streams while the average rightwinger can game the youtube algorithm everyday for an extra $1000

WHO WINS

(Arch and crew probably)

Hm, looks like a FASCIST to me. Why would he brand himself with the symbol of SPACE NAZI'S, who GENOCIDE hekkin SPACE MINORITIES.

It was best when it straddled the line; it fully embraced the chud'y nature, but at the same time poked at it a little too. It didn't take it'self too seriously. I believe Andy Chambers said, "A sense of whimsy". That's long gone now.

I long fantasize about some kind of brand split similar to bringing back Old World for WFB, one brand for the current crop, and another going back to 1e-2e. Will never happen, but a guy can dream.

I mean, since we’re talking about Warhammer and “culture.” I like it a bit funny but also “serious enough” where you can read about these insane characters and still go, “Yeah, Huron does have a point where all these things the world says matter, don’t define you at all and they’re just trappings of an irreparable system. Rip it off and join the lads in raiding.”

While also laughing that his crash out came from tax evasion.
This post has inspired me to think more positively about my life because not only am I not that pathetic, I didnt even know a person that pathetic existed.

Genuine painful cringe
It made me want to go back to the gym and do another workout today.

How it went, even with me doing the moves in the book. Rat ogres move forward, then pretty much god roll the mini gun pumping 12 shots into the hero, turning him to paste. I then charge the ogres to the middle. Massacre the hammer bros. It should have almost wiped them, but after 10 or more minutes of a very upset player searching the rule book for any kind of way to save or undo this, he removed 2 models instead of the 3-4 it should have been. I didn't argue as this was a tutorial game.
I know that feeling of trying to find a way to hold on when you know that you’re fucked and the game is over. I wouldn’t begrudge your opponent for being upset, but he should reflect on what he did that led such a defeat.

One thing that I have learned over the years is that the most consequential phase in any miniature game is the movement phase. It doesn’t matter how deadly a unit is if it stumbles into a kill zone and gets slaughtered turn 1. Positioning, terrain, and theorizing how your opponent moves is what makes the difference.

Also, I suggest we merge the other Warhammer threads. This is the Kiwihammer chat.

If you look closer you can see he’s wearing eyeliner and his eyes are welling up with tears

White Scars/Salamanders/Raven Guard are not getting parodies in Space King holy shit LMAO.

Honestly, my tldr is they have to be trolling becasue their reasoning is quite ass and they talk like they know nothing about Warhammer
That would be because they know fuck all about 40k. I've mentioned their videos in this thread before talking about models they've never seen but aren't even rare, not knowing fuck all about characters with tons of lore, or even entire factions sometimes. They played 40k for a bit when they were kids and that's about it. Why do you think they don't know much about the chapters that got their shit wrecked at Isstvan? It's because they were only into 40k as kids before GW started doing any real lore for them.

Think about it, between Space King and their black templar vs the furry stuff, was there ever anything beyond the most surface level of jokes? It's almost entirely "This is a thing I was into for a year when I was 10" type shit.

I liked their space hulk stuff it’s probably the best one, however I didn’t think they were this bad at knowing shit.

So I decided to build my models before reading the codex and found out why that's a bad idea. Looks like I put my Neophytes pauldrons on my Initiates and vice versa. Not a big deal or anything. I have my first game this weekend, my combat patrol gives me 460 points which is perfect for a 500 point game. I am worried about the weather ruining my game but we'll see.

If anyone has any suggestions for painting guides for Black Templar let me know. I was thinking of following Duncan Rhodes BT painting guide but I'm still open to alternatives

Been a while since I painted anything pure black, so this might be out of date. In short, painting it very dark grey or some other off black colour. It will read as black but allow you to do shading and highlights.

he should reflect on what he did that led such a defeat.
(Forum ate the other quotes)

To be fair, there wasn't anything to do. It was a preset scenario. It's just the book expects you to roll average-bad for skaven.

eg. 2d6 shots into the hero should have been something like this. 7 shots, 50% hit rate, (4) 50% wound rate (2), hero saves or has enough health to tank it. Ogres too far away to charge the hero.
How it went was something like 12 shots, 11 hits, 9 wounds, 1 save, HP 6 hero turned into paste instantly.

It's like how every time I rolled clan rats. 10 guys with 2 attacks each. He always thought it was an insane number of attacks. But a low hit and wound rate, plus the stormcast's big saves, mean that usually only a 1-3 hits go through. And you really have to pile in because once you start losing rats, you lose damage output.

As for sticky objectives, it makes sense because rarely do you have a guy who can stand around. Though the weird 3 inch combat bubble for contesting is something I don't fully understand yet.

I haven't given it a full try yet, but I've been interested in a black armor scheme and have done online research on it. The off-black option is definitely the most appealing to me for the benefit of shading, and I worry that a black-black base color with only highlights will obscure details of the model when viewed from any distance beyond close-up.

For the purpose of selecting an off-black (dark grey), I suggest you look across all of the paint ranges rather than just Citadel or whatever your preferred brand is. For Citadel, Corvus Black is the designated off-black, but I tested it and immediately saw that it was too blue for my liking. Because I care about this too much, I actually bought the real photographed paint swatches from the Tale of Painters guy for the best comparisons (when official color charts can be deceptive) short of hunting down and buying paints just for testing once. Now seeing all of the blacks and off-blacks across brands at the same time, the one I'm interested in getting to try out is Vallejo Game Color Charcoal. With a shade on it, it might turn out just right for me.

On another point, there's obviously a lot of Black Templar painting guides out there, but you should look at guides for other black armor too. Raven Guard, Iron Hands, Sororitas, etc. Hell, Darth Vader miniatures too. Even Duncan doesn't necessarily always paint black the same.
