Yeah I need to get a small enough brush. I bought a 1 but my hands aren't steady enough to keep from blotching areas

My advice, not that anyone cares, is don't. You're making the right call avoiding the eyes, since it can look weird not doing them, but having two huge blobs will ruin the look.
I'd suggest getting a fine point marker, but you knew I'd say that.
If in doubt, do dots. Again, better too little paint that too much.
A friend of mine puts a white dot in the corner. To me, it's not enough, but to him it gives the appearance of a lens without having to paint the lens.
Edit:
What would you recommend for starting an army?
Honestly. Don't. Not yet anyway. 11th is around the corner, supposedly.
I don't get the hate for Combat Patrol. I've not played it yet. However, I hear good things about AoS Spearhead, and it's likely GW will copy it for Combat Patrol in 11th.
In non-40k 40k news. Konflikt47 dropped a preview of their new zombie themed army. Most people are hyped, and even 40k players are liking them as proxy pox walkers and ...something else? I'm not sure what. I assume a bloat drone? He's the model.
And I'll try not to bring it up every time it happens, but it seems like whenever K47 gets a big win, there's the 40k fanboys who get mad about it. This time ranting about nazi zombies is a lazy idea, that Warlord isn't giving equal love to their factions, etc. My favourite is a guy who I assume is a GW YouTuber getting a few rage comments because "no one cares" about K47 and he should cover 40k exclusively.
