I hate "end times" in general because it's both a retarded way to drive interest and it inevitably puts a 'death clock' on your setting if you then happen to be such a massive retard you decide to push it forward.

In Fantasy's case, it's retarded. The setting sucks (interdimensional spelljammers? Really). The factions are limited and only Skaven and Ork players would be happy with them given most of the others are slammed into four big factions. The game does minimal changes to name because GW wants more guaranteed money despite no one fucking using their names.

Sigmarines are not even the biggest visual reason why the new version sucks. Visually you went from this:

Fuck, if you were a Druchii player you probably are still rioting over Malekith and what they turned him into.

I don't like the AoS situation... but from what I've heard, Orcs can win now, but they're orrukkks now. So I'll be all "sweating button man meme" when I get back into larger scale warhams.

I like the hovering mouse clicking icons in the middle of the gold circles.

Yep. I have to say that looks pretty atrocious.

Which part? The part where he became Phoenix King? Or the part where he's now some Illidan hobgoblin?

Second part of course. First part would be vindication but for that.

It's why I honestly think they should've just went for what happened in the tourneys for Storm of Chaos and had Grimgor murder the shit out of Archaon. Make the "End Times" a thing that any of the factions could've started for their own reasons (but not like the clusterfuck that was End Times).

What are your thoughts on Idoneth Deepkin for Age of Sigmar? (not a fan of the name, but interesting concept for a Warhammer game)

Personally, if they can afford to make a whole new army for Age of Sigmar, they can do the same for Warhammer 40,000

The last truly “new” faction was genestealer cult I believe. And that was just before 8the was released.

Yeah, there's basically three semi-distinct Orc armies now. There's garden variety Greenskinz, Ironjawz and Bonesplitterz. The Ironjawz are like Orky elite that are fairly disciplined as far as greenskins go (think a faction of Black Orcs), they're so easy to play they really ought to replace the Khornate stuff in the boxed set with Ironjawz. Bonesplitterz are the old Savage Orcs, and early on they were THE most dominant army in the game because of their scary archers. Greenskinz are your garden variety orc, and they have the least amount of love put into them by GW. Of the three, they're the only ones that don't get specialized Allegiance abilities (not yet, at least). Greenskinz DO have three things going for them though; arguably the best generalized Orc shaman for the price, cheap warbosses with a Command Ability that is always useful, and extremely cheap and durable (with shields) basic infantry that's uniquely good at hacking through thick armor.

Looking forward to the next release.
Greatcoat guard with plastic thunderhawk transports.

I'm glad there won't be any Codexes I want released this year. I have way too much to catch up on as is.

Until a Genestealer Cult or Emperor's Children Codex comes out (and the chances of an EC Codex isn't too high), I'm pretty set.

So Humble Bundle as a sale going on for digital versions of some Black Library books, short stories and audiobooks, any one who knows their Black library better knows if there's anything decent in the bundle?

So. Last Saturday's Game of Only War managed to make it to 1d4chan levels of insanity much to my joy. How so some of you may ask? Well one of my players just managed to pul a Grendel.

Here is the background. The 13th Tallarn (most of my players) have been called down to the Knight World of New Siddartha. The original natives of the world, technophobic copper age savages, managed to incite a powerful and deadly revolt with a lot of help from traitor governors and hidden unbound Psykers. They lost heavy casualties in the Northern Front due to the presence of "Wickermen", Knight sized constructs powered by burning warp energy. The natives were also heavily armed with mono weaponry and flak material due to the traitors. The crumbling situation required extra support in the form of Zeonia's Last, a Ratling regiment one of my newer players is a part of.

My players are a part of a Southern expedition sent to pacify one of the largest cities on the planet. To further aid them, the spare of House Mastela and elements of Zeonia's Last were sent out but were ambushed by raiding forces. Their original plan was to bust one of the tribe's big slaver camps, but when they got detailed plans of a surprise assault on the capital and seat of House Mastela. With the capital under threat, they went north. The situation was not on their side; the traitors may not have wickerman support, but they did manage to capture and direct great Land Worms that were armored in metals salvaged from sentinels and chimeras that dwell in the Savannahs of the world as Siege engines.

By the time they made it to Lucknow, the army was in the city and slaughtering remnants of their Regiment and the stretched PDF troopers sent to keep order. A quick firefight allowed the unit to save some citizens from a slaver's line, but the action drew one of the Worms. Sustained and brutal fire from the Sentinel units and a powerful shocklance strike from the Knight put it down, but they had to rush on. The foot troopers, comprised of Cpl. Shives and Pvt. Ismail were kept on guard watch for the civvies and traitors who surrendered. Pvt. Sahrp and Sgt. Baba continued on.

They in their sentinels dealt with rear elements of the Army and eventually came on the last stand of a unit of PDF lead by one of Tallarn's sons. They were getting slaughtered by the Worm and the infantry supporting it and were cut off. Under those circumstances, the unit stepped in to help.

A brief fight between the two forces ensued. Rook was providing covering fire on the tribals taking refuge in the ferrocrete buildings, which took some pressure off of the unit. But it was the section leader of the unit, Sgt. Baba, that had his finest hour. He with utter contempt sprayed a full auto burst of autocannon fire at the worm, and proceeded to roll 10, 10, 4. He entered righteous fury, and rolled again, 10, 6. The worm was shredded and screaming in pure agony, and Baba continued pouring it on with his second full burst. He slammed it again with 10, 4, 10. And then another ten and one more after it. With a final roll of 3, he did over 103 damage to this massive creature. All said and done, he got over seven tens by the end of it.

The worm blew apart into glowing light, as a phantasmal image of a great flaming sword erased it utterly to the eyes of onlookers. The chanting of a choir rocked the city, and made the army quail in fear. It was now that most of the tribals realized that the Emperor was not on their side. They immediately surrendered, with the orchestrators fleeing in fear and pain, too damned to repent.

Sgt. Baba and company managed to singlehandedly change the tide of a battle, maybe even the war, but now have drawn the eye of the Inquisition...

I’m not sure what to think about 40K in its current form. On the one hand they’re going into further details on sub-factions such as Harlequins, Sisters and Genestealers that have been long neglected. On the other hand, it feels like 90% of the content is about Space Marines and/or humans, with factions like Orks being made to wait out an update in favour of some other Space Marine faction being spewed out or models of more buff Space Marines are made. That’s nothing to say of the Ynnari and Girlymann’s revival feeling like some horrendously rendered fanfic - the supposed “hopelessness” of Humanity’s survival couldn’t look more non-existent if they cast away the veil that poorly conceals Warhammer 40K: Age of the Space Marine underneath.

I know Space Marines are GW’s main cash cow, but it just honestly has become boring to a degree seeing constant lore for them being touted out when their other distinctive races sit on the sidelines for revision or daresay, 10 individual pages of the core rule book. Without the Xenos, I personally think 40K is a universe that isn’t worth venturing into - they strengthen and complement the Imperium’s appeal when it is a small portion of the sprawling galaxy it inhabits.

Guess I have to wait until they have more than just some Xenos index that merely summarizes their army composition...
