About six months ago there was a concerted effort to ruin Warhammer, but it never really gained traction. Perhaps it's not mainstream enough for socjus types to glom on, since they typically only try to twist major properties.
You need to spend hundreds of dollars on army men and then paint and assemble instead of 0-60$ for a comic/book/movie/vidya so even if you want to carve out a position and then try to get attention from vice or kotaku or whatever it's too much effort. And Dawn of War hasn't been good since forever so the community of filthy secondaries is less relevant.
Too many abstract rules and math (well, arithmetic) for SJWs to want to look too hard at it. The attack on Paradox style ultra-spergy grand strategy games was similarly short lived and half hearted.
That's my prediction too given that the one they parasitize the most is the easy to learn old White Wolf system of just a shitton of d10s. Pathfinder/DnD is more due to the namebrand, but it also isn't that hard. They'd probably also internally explode at dealing with the percentiles of the old Fantasyflight systems.
That and them being broke due to wokeness means army men collecting is far out of their budget.
I'm all for gatekeeping when a horde of Will Wheaton's are on the other side of the gate. The community is already leaden with tournament fanatics, adding another contingent of pissy sadsacks who are never satisfied (but for different reasons) would be too much to bear.

It would be very easy for Games Workshop to release prepainted miniatures in a casual starter kit (ala the new Magic the Gathering miniatures).
Heck, do it when the new Sisters come out. Prepainted Sisters for cosplayers to take their local hobby store on game night. All they need is an app that automates dice rolls and you have the perfect recipe for casual Warhammer.
It looks like they’re moving onto 32mm as the standard base size for infantry models in 40K. A lot of the re packaged infantry are also on 32mm as well.
Not a figures collector (much more the tabletop and the vidya kind for 40k), so what was the old standard base for the minis, if there was one? I'm just wondering since my prediction is they're cheaping out by doing 32mm standard as a smaller option.
Not really. GW has never (unless you count the semi-official basing sheet in WHFB 6th ed) properly mandated any base sizes. They've always hid between that wishy-washy 'use whatever base the model came packaged with'. WH40K isn't a properly balanced game anyway so it doesn't really matter much.
The boyz will be packaged with 32mm going forward (and too be honest, the models stances are a bit too wide to fit on 25mm's) but there won't be anything in the codex saying you need to use specific bases. Tournaments could demand you use 32mm bases in the future, but they've always been able to make up any rules they want so no difference there. Marines started to get shipped with 32mm bases a long time ago. Is there any tournies demanding people rebase their old marine armies play? If not, there's even less of a chance anyone will demand it for orks.

Started painting my knight. A couple progress pics with the armor dry fit. The red parts are a 3d printed conversion (custodes) with the exception of the weapons which are plastic, and the chest shield which is resin (forgeworld?). The carapace is a resin cast of a scracthbuilt black templar conversion carapace, the raised black templar cross is the scratchbuilt part.
My parents got me a Questor Knight Maegara something or other as an early Christmas present. I kind of want to use it as a walking shitpost and design it's heraldry around the Farms logo. Think I should?

If I had my way it would be movement stat + d6. So, it would still be random to a degree but you wouldn't fail a two-inch charge. It also would make sense since faster moving units would get a longer guaranteed charge range and be a threat over a greater distance.
Personally, I like the added chance of rolled movement, but then again, I think the Bubble Chukka is the pinnacle of sci-fi engineering and look forward to Chaos Spawn melee like it's a spectacular Princess Bride rapier duel.
