GW and competence don't belong in the same universe.

You get less genestealers now in Space Hulk, and the marines can now shoot doors down, making their ability to go on overdrive and lock a while corridor down even more powerful.I wouldn't be shocked if they nerfed the Genestealer because I do know that for several editions the Tyranids were made worse in each incarnation. This sadly is within Geedubz' purview of making me never buy a thing off of them since fuck that.
As a GW game goes, Necromunda is everything that 40k Kill-Team should have been. I don't see how it hasn't been modified to accommodate the standard 40k models and just use the base rules of Necromunda.
I wish games workshop didn't axe fantasy flight games's license. I really would want to see a second edition of warhammer 40,000 roleplay: only war.
All that has kept me from wanting anything to do with Age of Sigmar has been the way Chaos was watered down into Khorne Bloodshitters, with actual fucking chaos warbands that buttfucked the Old World with a battle axe while Amon Amarth blasted over the loudspeakers being pretty much forgotten even though they're one of the major focal points of the ongoing storyline with Archaon. Now, they're "Slaves to Darkness"- because 'Chaos Warriors' sounded more badass than 'Khorne Slaughterfaggots' or whatever those things are. They've got half-assed, objectively inferior rules so GW could say "We totally will support all your old armies that you spent time and money on" while omitting the part where they just make your shit suck and no longer produce anything new for them, so you'll buckle and go buy yourself some Gorepiss Murderniggers of Khorne so that you can actually make it through a couple of turns playing Age of Sigmar.
And don't get me wrong, I don't hate Age of Sigmar as a system- it's pretty fun. And, even some aspects of the lore are pretty interesting... like the idea of an entire plethora of fantasy world variants with different aesthetics and themes, capable of merging and crossing over.
I do think Slaves to Darkness will get a shot in the arm sooner rather than later. They released a pretty great army box earlier this year and made all the WarCry bands compatible with them, so I don't think they've been written off. My only fear is that when they come back in style, they'll deemphasize the metalViking aesthetic and focus on generic Darkoath bullshit instead.
I've got that boxed set. The one good thing I can say is that it is a bargain for everything you get. Chaos Knights have aged well, even though they're not as balls-out insanely cool as the Varanguard. The Chaos Warriors are absolute shit, boring as fuck to look at- and they all look exactly the same, except maybe a slightly different (but still roughly the same profile) helmet.
Depending on how the next 2 Warcry faction boxes look, that will determine what I do. They've got that old-school look, and I'm hoping we get a bit of that old-school Chaos Warrior theme. Make 'em big and brutal, put them on that 40mm base and have them the same size as Stormcast Eternals. A variety of parts to make them all look unique, maybe even multi-part helmets (so you don't have to do the fucking horns over and over again).
I'm tempted to just buy a shitload of these warbands and just build them up as marauders, but their rules are nice- even though they don't have a real battlefield role.
Indrid does a pretty good job at casting Dawn of War 2, my only gripe with the man is when he post the monthly Faction Wars for more than a week in a row.casted replays of DoW2
He actually demands that they put their fucking armor back on. They just skeet out of there to avoid directly disobeying him.*Slams Chris Chan for combining two franchises into one and trying to profit off of them*
*Endorses figurines that are literally Pillar Men with Custodes helmets*

Downtime in tabletop is just.....fuuuuck. Playing IG vs Orkz, okay lemme move my 100 boyz..okay lemme move my 100 guards. FFS. The other issue is it plays like a slowly deflating balloon. You'd think you would want the action to stay the same or ramp up, not dwindle down as the game comes to an end.Indrid does a pretty good job at casting Dawn of War 2, my only gripe with the man is when he post the monthly Faction Wars for more than a week in a row.
I love how Dawn of War 2 for the entire duration of a match even during a slow start promotes constant skirmishing, leaving very little downtime if any at all.

WH40k is the only game I've played where I can literally hear yawns from someone when it isn't their turn.
I bet. Just playing as IG is tedious.Nothing against IG players, but playing against them is so tedious. That first shooting phase is like 45 minutes of dice-rolling tedium. I prefer 1000 point games just for that reason.
Playing the minis in general sounds tedious to me, but then I got sold off of minis gaming due to the group I played with. It was Heroclix instead, so no need to put in the time to paint and make them look good, but there was still the pay to win angle that I didn't like. Probably doesn't help I don't really have a passion for minis gaming in general.
