Honestly the Imperial Guard really does encapsulate the Imperium as a whole, discover threat, throw a few million guard at said threat, if that doesn't work just bomb the fuck out of it until the threat is purged. Its a pretty good first impression if you're an abhorrently, offensive Xeno scum encountering the Imperium for the first time
Hey, being an Guardsmen has it's perks.

Granted, you won't live through them...usually.

Since I have some free time on my hands thanks to airborne aids I decided to go through and start on my back catalogue of warhammer conquest magazines. I started with the terrain since it’s pretty easy to put together but some of the push fits they supplied early on were just plain awful.

>Buying plastic figures incompatible to the source game about buying more plastic figures

No, no I'm not.
Don't worry I'm sure its only a matter of time until GDubbs upgrades Space Marines till the point they are so huge that figure could represent them on the table. Primaris Gigantus Marines coming 2026!

Is there any lore explanation for why all these Primaris Marines suddenly have optics mounted on all of their weapons? Or is it just supposed to look tacticool?

tacticool mostly, though previous bolter bits had the occasional scoped one for a sergeant,as well as scopes being their own bit to put on the bolter.

Has any one had issues with Army Painter black primer? I was painting some space marines and ran into an issue where the ultramarine blue on the mini was translucent in all but really bright light. I am using Utrect Acrylic Paint, which is a Craft paint.

I plan on running Captain Titus as my HQ instead intead of Cato Faggarius or Guilliman

If you’re using craft paint over it that’s probably why. Goober town hobbies did a video about using craft paints and said the results weren’t great.

There are lots of people who don't actually play the game but enjoy the novels and the aesthetics. Me among them. I would probably buy one if I saw it at a store or saw it online.

That's true. I was speaking with the idea that you're a person who sinks a few figures a year into plastic crack. If you're someone who doesn't really subscribe to owning an army and instead just wants a memento, I see no fault in that.

I haven't played 40k in a very long time. The group I played with were an oldhammer group, so we played the old 1987 edition rules of 40k with current models because that's all that's available. I always played ork and didn't have that many figures for my squads. The original rogue trader rules are better for single squad fights, not like nowadays with these huge armies. A lot closer to necromunda, where individual models mattered and you have a gamemaster. It's what I played when I was a kid, so it's what i'm nostalgic for. Anyways, I've got a ton of scenery for my orks that a friend of mine made. Here's some of it:

Wow, that is some nice Ork town terrain. Has your gaming group tried out Kill-team? Probably would go quicker than Rogue Trader unless you guys are into the role-playing side of the game.

We haven't played in a very long time, but I do own the newer necromunda which I hear killteam is based on. I used to play gorkamorka bitd as well. I really haven't kept up on much of the lore changes, its just not easy to find other players who dig the oldhammer stuff.

My Ork-y sense says there's something terribly wrong about pictures 4 and 5: A proper Ork would never leave some weedy tree standing to build fortifications around.

On another note, I was also a Gorkamorka enthusiast. It's a shame that game got done dirty and probably won't ever get a new edition.
