Besides fighting the Tyranids, I think Ultramarines also got to be the faction used for Chaos Gate - and the demonstrated faction colours for the 3rd Edition paint set - but even by the end of 3rd Edition they weren't heavily advertised or pushed to the fore as far as I can remember. Blood Angels also had the distinction of having Warhammer Monthly run the Bloodquest series at the time, and they had the kind of fanfare behind them that wasn't really matched until Armageddon revealed the Black Templars and Salamanders.

TTS is pretty fun. Space Wolves have always sucked as far as I'm concerned, but that's a rant for another day.
I'm def team edward. But those space wolves are pretty cool. You're probably just mad the thousand suns God dabbed.

Monthly reminder that the blood angels and salamanders are the best space marines.
CHAD TIER:
Blood Angels, Salamanders, Lamenters, Black Templars
GOOD TIER:
Imperial Fists, Crimson Fists, Raven Guard, Raptors, Carcharadons
I PLAYED TOO MUCH SKYRIM BUT STILL GOOD TIER: Space Wolves
DECENT TIER: Iron Hands, Flesh Tearers, White Scars
TURBO EDGELORD 2GRIMDARK4U TIER: Grey Knights, Dark Angels, Relictors
TOO AUTISTIC TO BE LEFT ALIVE TIER: Ultramarines
BETTER THAN ALL OF THE ABOVE PUT TOGETHER TIER: Imperial Guard

So, my parents have been renovating my dead uncle's house that they're going to keep as a rental property. Earlier this week, my mom told me that she had found a taped-up box labeled METAL MINIATURES.

"You need to take a look at these since you're into this kind of stuff. There's like monks, frogs, vikings and I don't know what they are. They're awful."

It was really nice of her to mention that, but it turned out they were collectable pewter figurines and not GW or other wargaming minis.

Nah, they're just an example of overcompensation on the side of Team SM. GeeDubs couldn't stay content with the idea that Space Marines fill a specific archetype as power-armoured, genetically enhanced supersoldiers, so they're like, "Hey! How about the Space Wolves get a bunch of wolf-men who pretty much fit the book on Chaos mutation, but they're totes fine? Berserker, amirite?"

_________________________________________________

I was never really a fan of the Guard, but over time they've become so much more likeable than the Space Marines as a faction because GeeDubs has become progressively more afraid to depict Space Marines as anything but All That (TM). Previously you heard about how things like the Arch-Arsonist of Charon dominated Rynn's World and none of the Crimson Fists' best efforts had any measurable impact on that, or Chapters being mercilessly wiped out: bitter losses without contention. Nowadays, it's always something like, "They drove to a stalemate with Exterminatus" or, "A half-victory was forced by the brave sacrifice of Captain NPC" or, "They fled, but they made sure to take a shit in every pie on their way out, so in the end they must be the real winners".

Not so much with the Imperial Guard. They pay for everything with blood, they're not infallible and have virtually none of these magical exceptions to the rule that the Space Marines conjure up, partially due to the double-edged nature of their organisation, which exudes character. And more importantly, they can lose, which helps to keep your villains as a threatening force without devolving into Saturday Morning Cartoon Villains.

Between Ventris and Titus the 4th Company really seems to pick itself the best captains.
Minor correction, but Titus was stated to be captain of the 2nd Company in the video game.

Which does bring me to my next point: Is Titus even canon at this point? Wasn't there something about how he cannot be Captain because Cato Sicarius is the canonical captain?

Does anyone know how much the price markup is going to be for all the items they've listed? A list of the changes would be nice.

Blood Angels were GW's go-to before Ward took over, being the original stars of the Space Hulk boardgame and I believe a few others things that were before my time. Imperial Fists and successors had awesome shit for them like Armageddon and the Siege of the Imperial Palace. Also, I can recommend "If the Emperor Had a Text-to-Speech Device" if you want what is essentially the "A Kiwifarmer explains shit to kids these days" take on Warhammer 40k lore and events. The TTS version of the Dark Angels has bumped them up a few tiers on my list of approved Space Marines. I can't see any of those characters without the TTS version taking over in my head.

The problem is that the link doesn't show what the new prices will be, only that they are the items affected by this change. Obviously everything's going to go up in price, but by how much is my question.
Here's an imgur link to the price changes in euros. Most of the increases are going up by 2.5 to 5 euros. Larger increases going for bigger models and terrain. Some models like the Librarian and Space Marine command squads aren't changing in price, while the Orruk Megaboss is actually going down in price.

I've seen some people complain about GW raising their prices during the pandemic, but I've got to assume that these prices were planned to be raised at least a year in advance. I've also read that they are raising prices to combat the declining value in the pound.

you know i always knew about this series but i never knew where to start, i remeber playing one action moba like game which had co op in it and thats about it.

Spoiler: the Space Wolves are highly unimaginative and the Iron Warriors are a bunch of angry, bitter lolcows. If you want some actual quality UM stuff, the Ultramarine novel series has got you. the fists were what I remember as being GW's lead Space Marine chapter from the old rogue trader days, but i do remember them shifting over time to the blood angels, especially in the 90s. I think everyone played the tutorial game they included in that book with the cut-out chits, especially since models were extremely hard to find back then.
