View attachment 1931403I’m curious, how do you all like to paint this kind of terrain? Sandstone beige, metallic grim dark. I’ve seen some cool rust effects you can create by stippling with a sponge
I'd first prime it with Leadbelcher (or a similar color), then paint the walls Iron Warriors (the paint, not the Legion), the beams would be Hashut Copper (or similar color), the rivets would be Ironbreaker (or similar color), then use Agrax Earthshade on and around the beams to give it a dingy look, then use Nuln Oil on the walls to give a dirty look to it (you can apply it multiple times until you get the look you want).
The grate and the vat would be primed with Runelord Brass, then painted with Brass Scorpion. Then I'd use Nuln Oil on the grate to dirty it up.
As for the vat, I'd use Screaming Bell on the bands, Doombull Brown for the valves, Canoptek Alloy for the panels, and Fulgurite Copper for the rivets. The skull would be painted with Wraithbone and the mechanical bits would be painted with Leadbelcher. Any lenses would be painted with Spiritstone Red or Tesseract Glow.
But, that's just my take.

Thanks, I’ll show the results when it’s finished

Artis Opus to the rescue.

He has a playlist of terrain stuff here: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLI975qL3WcFloJXMdSk_1kgiQbRqzA_UQ

Here's a grime tutorial (yup, he uses a sponge):

Previous video showed how he did the base terrain in that video, just by basecoating and drybrushing:

Here's a more complex piece, with metallics and plasma glow:

That floorboard you have is crying out for some chipped and weathered metal effects:

I don't do terrain much, but those are the vids I'd use as a jumping off point. I paint things darker than most, so... Matt black primer/basecoat, with Iron Warriors as my base metallic. Some Leadbelcher and Balthasar Gold / Screaming Bell / Hashut Copper to differentiate parts and colors. Heavy wash of Nuln Oil + some of the other washes for grime et all. Use some dark colors -- Khorne Red, for example -- for the wires to make them pop out a bit. Any mettalic part that moves will necessarily be brighter because they'll grind and clean / polish themselves, it's why all my hydrallics on my AdMech are Iron Warriors until the parts that rub against each other, then they get a bit of leadbelcher / less Nuln Oil. So the fan blades, for example. I've dealt with the metallic conduit on some of that piece, and in real life they're always strikingly bright aluminum, so I'd probably paint those brighter, too.

New Blood Knights! Or Dragon Princes?

If GW reduces the price of these it will really show how much they know they can get away with charging shit in 40k compared to AoS. I’m told blood knights cost the way they are since something went wrong with the sculpting process and resulted in the models being near HQ quality which is why they cost the way they do.

If Blood Knights are going to be as powerful as something the Varanguard, then they will probably be around $100. But that actually would mean we get a better sculpt for the same price. But they might go to $60 or $65, especially if they aren't batteline. Maybe GW will create a human thrall unit to act as the core troop unit.

That's got to be the best necromancer they've ever made. I don't collect vampires (unless you count FEC), but I am legitimately happy for vampire fans, especially if new Blood Knights are a thing.

A neat looking vampire army would get me interested in sigmar.

I wasn’t interested in warhammer quest before but this model plus the hero quest re-release being a total rip off it’s definitely peaked my interest.

Looks straight out of one of Blanche’s drawing and does not look at all different from the Warhammer Fantasy Vampire Count range.
The article seems to imply he is coming for a new faction called the deathrattle(sounds like actual skeletons, not bone reapers). Tbh I might be sold on getting into AoS when they drop.

They’re already a sub faction in legions of nagash they just need a couple extra support units not a whole battle tome.
