I wish this tread could move on from this spergatory surrounding warhammer+ and what must be the worlds most pathetic boycott but i'll say this much; if the artist is making money from the project it's not fanart, they're running a business using another companies IP.
This GW boycott is just like every other gamer boycott. It's one trailer away from ending.
Especially with heresy coming next month

I agree with you there when it comes to IP you can’t make money off of someone else’s creation by making space marines t-shirts for example but a lot of these crackdowns are targeting fair use of IP when they are transformative works or when it’s simply just a fun creative project made by a fan. And this isn’t new by any means.

It’s just a shame that they can’t see what their community is in fact giving them for free and instead opts to punish those who are being creative with their hobby and actually making the engagement in their product more enjoyable.

I think the boycott is pretty unrealistic, their models are too good. I pre-ordered the Octarius box because Death Guard plastic models are something I’ve always wanted but it’s a real shame it’s limited edition just means more people are going to scalp boxes on eBay. But I digress, I think GW should take note that they owe it to their fans not to antagonize the community and offer zero communication about something like cursed city which pissed everyone off.

The more effective approach would probably be the employees at GW to unionize and for the creators who do most of the work to have more representation and say in the company. It may be a dream job for many but it doesn’t mean it shouldn’t pay decent wages and offer security benefits. The stories of people who were denied pay raises in salary was pretty bad or people who had to go on maternity and paternity leave and the way GW handled that.

Their employees picked up a £5,000 bonus due to record sales in 2021 so that's not going to happen.

When I was in the running to be a manager I would have made decent money at the time working for GW. Don't believe what you read on the internet. A lot of people getting screwed over are in the States and that's because of how shit that country is when it comes to employment.

Can’t wait to see how they handle this one. If they go the kill team route everyone who wants a box will get a box but if they go cursed city route cue the “me no cover gw anymore” from the shill tubers and another totally effective email campaign.

So I asked around apparently some absolute retard made a step by step guide on how to access the mega. Gamza is clean for now but Spacemace69 seems like the most retarded idea Gamza has cooked up.
I searched youtube and didn't find the offending video.

However apparently there have been three attempts to recreate the mega, both on Mega and other file hosting services, and they are getting DMCA'd pretty quickly now, so people think GW has a mole in the Discord now. Remembering that they specifically were hiring an intern to do this very thing a few months back...

Well, the email campaign might have been whey we're now at "everyone who wants a box will get a box." So... Not sure.

I do know Cursed City was cut short because the UK government decreed that GW's little game of making the figs in the UK and printing the Box and Materials in China (or the other way around?) didn't count as "made in the UK," which meant suddenly they were on the hook for taxes and couldn't label the boxes as Made in the UK anymore.

I don't think heresy will be super popular because people don't want to roll jinks and pinning etc. (I love it), and they can't have their oc marines.
The beakies from the leaked image look fine in scale for regular 40k, I'm still waiting for Argel Tal so I can use him as an exalted possession jump lord or something.

I doubt people will be buying the heresy box for 40k if it's going to be backed with a hard cover rule book and whatever else.

True but it would still be a place to get the majority of the generic stuff you want as marine/chaos player

edit - Other than the land raider (rest in peace king)

I wanted to ask if anybody else here is getting Octarius and what they plan on doing with their conversions and/or paint scheme.

I thought it might be cool to make them into an Arditi scheme. There was a cool video also on how to convert them into Valhallan Ice Warriors.

I might actually make them a different chapter for heresy since i’m already running DA for 40K. Maybe Lunar Wolves or Imperial Fists but probably Lunar Wolves.

Huh, for not posting anything in months and only discussing printer settings and whatnot in the past even I got access the the rebooted mega. I'm actually surprised.

Do you mean OC chapters? If anything 30k lets you homebrew even more most chapters had their origins in the legions even if they were under the same banner. The Raptors were Raven Guard scouts who earned respect during their time in the heresy and the Red Talon were where the Iron Hands sent their psychos in the legion.

30k chapter mostly kept in line with the color schemes of their legion. The most you can get away from it is stuff like nemesis ultramarine. There won't be any paint marine purple and calling them imperial fists.

I think the Blackshields would in lore give you a lot more diversity in terms of paints schemes.
But I'm not a 30k guy so I can't speak toward their rules.

Blackshield colors are usually just well... black, or unpainted. with accent colors informed by their origin legion. With them looking extremely beat up and unrepaired. Obviously you have exceptions like the ashen claws, but if youre gonna be "that guy" who cant go with the mood of the game, i would hope they just stick to 40k.

If I was gonna go 30k, I'd paint them just like the Blood Ravens...

And call them a Thousand Sons force, part of the Covid Cult. Maybe magnetize the shoulderpad so I can swap between a Thousand Sons shoulderpad and a Blood Ravens one.
They have a different shade of red reeeeee

Speaking of 30k, I wonder if they'll make a Malcador mini eventually if they do make more Knights-Errant.
I've seen some decent kit bashes for him (although some where just a pile a dust a top of a base), actually would be tempted to buy one since he is one of my favorite characters in the setting.
