the difference is GW has no parks that eat billions in upkeep that make absolute ZERO money during lockdowns, nor do they pay millions for movies they can't sell tickets for. meanwhile GW still can sell metric tons of plastic to people stuck at home to paint. without corona SW bombing and marvel fizzling out wouldn't make much of difference for disney in the grand scheme of things.

and FFS, you're a regular on the SW thread, you should be well aware it they don't put a lot of money into it in the first place. who even cares about shit like high republic? which means their loss is minimal, fuck they might even break even since there are still enough cocksuckers paying for nuwars written by some YA authors spreading their asscheeks for a chance to have their name on an official SW novel.

If what Disney was doing was profitable, they'd be able to pay their way out of things. Especially since the parks have been open for quite some time. Meanwhile, GW's profit margins were negligible in 2016, but once 8th Edition hit, their profits were on a steady rise from 2017 onward. Disney went from making money hand over fist to closing down stores and having a lukewarm reception, while GW went from a company on the sidelines to a growing commercial giant ever since they streamlined and kiddie-fied the 40K franchise in 2017. Again, that's the exact opposite of what's happening to Disney right now. No one gives a flying shit about High Republic, the Mandalorian was their only hit, Bad Batch got a lukewarm reception, the MCU is fizzling out in terms of influence in popular culture, and Disney is forced to shut down its stores left and right. That's stuff that happened LONG after the lockdown was lifted and the parks were reopened. Meanwhile, GW is continuing to see yearly increaes in sales, while also expanding its media portfolio and media presence.

One is shrinking, the other is growing. So either GW's kid-friendly approach worked on the kids, or the adults are increasing their purchase of GW products even after GW told the older fans to get fucked.

The truth is probably somewhere in between.

That's another thing I was thinking when some people got pissy about it. Wouldn't a united human army not just have black Ultramarines, but also Asian, Indian, Arab, and all sorts of ethnicities? At this point, they would have probably stopped giving a shit about races within humanity because there is just one human race, and everyone else is the enemy. Yet the presence of black Ultramarines is enough to give some fans aneurysms.

to be fair, marines would change after the implantation of their respective primarch's gene-seed, see salamanders. and then you'd have to consider if blacks even got settled on any of those 500 worlds and survived/kept their trait for 10k+ years.
same way marines are extremely bulky dudes in power armor, any female would look like an extremely bulky butch-dyke in power armor, and with helmet on you wouldn't even know.

people usually don't have a problem with black or female chars done right and being their own character (plenty of reference for this), but imagine if roboute got resurrected as roboutta just because. GW can pander as much as they want, people will call it retarded, then buy the newest plastic and just paint it white. unless they start barring people from tournaments for the "wrong" colors no one will give a crap, same way WOTC can smear wokeshit all over itself while anyone else just roleplays something like hitler in faerun.

It basically is due to the reaction of the two fandoms. Both GW and Disney are going for a kid-friendly, streamlined approach to their media. However, the fandoms reacted differently.

-The SW fanbase called Disney's bluff and took their money and business elsewhere.
-The 40K fans kept throwing money at GW.

That's probably because SW fans treat their stories and lore more seriously, while the average 40K grognard would be OK so long as he has cool minis to paint. The 40K fans who gave a shit about the lore don't buy that much in terms of models anyways-they mostly buy books. While the people who buy SW toys, books, and games give a shit about the lore, so when Disney went to town with it and made Luke Skywalker look like a dipshit, they packed up and left, and outside of a few things like TCW, The Mandalorian and the Bad Batch, most of the modern SW media can't get the fans excited for shit.

The salamanders turning into niggas is due to a gene seed flaw, same with the ravenguard turning people white(super pale). Space marines changing in appearance varies from individual to even legion. The Luna Wolves/ Sons of Horus were the legion especially known for marines taking on a lot of physical features from their primarch. The original use of the term "Sons of Horus" even referred to the few marines that ended up looking remarkable similar to horus, Little Horus Aximand being essentially a mini me for horus. Blood angels you mostly get a subtly paler complextion and blond hair. All this was due to the geneseed. The Ultramarines and Imperial Fists have the most successor chapters, most stable loyalist geneseeds, and have some of the widest requirement ranges outside of fleet based chapters. The idea that one of the most stable geneseeds will turn a nigerian level nigga into a white boy is a laughable concept.

Now if we are talking Space Wolves or Heresy era night lords, that would be a different story because those people have evolved pale skin inherently.
 
When it comes to reintroducing a Primarch as a female, I wouldn't be surprised if they did make a female Guilliman clone or have another Primarch come back as a woman. A female version of a Primarch would be a good baseline for the creation of female Space Marines, something that the SJW crowd has been pushing for years. GW isn't above earning a few approval points from the SJW crowd, even if it means changing the lore. That, combined with the fact that GW is headquartered in Britain, a pretty liberal country, means that they're not above going woke in order to earn a bit of approval from the right media outlets. Not to mention the lore nuts who would cry foul over female marines mostly just buy books anyways, so the loss of their patronage would rarely matter, while the majority of the model kit-buying public wouldn't care and would just have new models to paint.

Not to mention that certain parts of the world will have fun putting female Space Marines though more than a bit of Rule 34. After all, getting some physically strong, muscular women tied down and having naughty things happening to them would be prime fetish fuel in the modern internet culture, especially in a setting like 40K where one of the primary Chaos Gods is all about sexual degeneracy. Having Chaos forces seducing or ravaging female space marines would be akin to a tribute to Slaanesh or something.

The lore nuts would get pissed, but the SJW crowd would love it, the people buying model kits won't care, and the Rule 34 crowd would also go crazy over it. There's more pros to cons in introducing female marines, which is why I believe they eventually will introduce female marines in the future. Not anytime soon, but eventually, in the years to come.

No, it's just me making observations. When @ZMOT mentioned having a female Primarch, and how there's this trend of putting in representation outside of what's acceptable in the lore, the idea that GW won't do female Space Marines becomes more fanciful as the years go by.

Games Workshop, in the end, is a British company. Britain is farther to the left compared to America in a lot of things, including politics and gender representation, and 40K itself was originally created as a "FUCK YOU" to the conservatives who were in charge in Britain during the 80s, namely Margaret Thatcher. 40K, Judge Dredd, V for Vendetta, and even Watchmen were all products of the British left-leaning nerdsphere, made in protest against what they saw as conservative tyranny.

So when modern SJW feminist liberals start calling for female Space Marines, an inherently leftist company that produced what was initially a leftist franchise would be hard-pressed to say no. Of course, they won't do it right away, but as time flies and the left becomes more and more uncompromising, the lack of female Space Marines will eventually be seen as a symbol of sexism on the part of GW, and not wanting to be seen as sexists, GW will eventually cave. Just as they made that statement against racism during the wake of the George Floyd shootings, to show solidarity with the leftists, they want to be seen as the good guys by the left, and they initially made 40K as a leftist parody of all things conservative, hence why nationalism, religion, and patriotism were mocked in the original, tongue-in-cheek editions of 40K.

So it's not a matter of "will GW make female Space Marines", but "when". And as I said, they'll lose little if they did. The model-collectors will just continue to buy and paint, the liberals will praise it as a victory for feminism and representation in wargaming, and the average fan artist would just have new targets for Rule 34. The only people who will feel angry about it are the lore nuts, and those guys buy books anyways, not models.

That, and 40K, in the end, is a tabletop game first and foremost, the lore is made as a justification for the game, not the other way around. It isn't like Star Wars which started out as a story and was later made into a toy franchise, it was more like Transformers, where it was a toy franchise that had a story made to justify the toys. Except it's a tabletop wargame. The reason why everyone is against everyone is to justify why any player can use any faction against another faction. So if bending the lore to suit the needs of SJWs and feminists is what GW wants, they'll do it. Especially since the lore nuts aren't their main source of income anyways-the model kit buyers are, and they barely give two shits about the lore.
 
What trend is there of putting things in that are not acceptable by lore standards? How much do you actually know about 40k, or GW in general? These theories just dont make sense, they arent based in reality.

Your still not getting it, GW is milquetoast at best when you compare it to companies like Disney/ActBlizz when it comes to PR. Disney/ActBlizz still have Millions upon millions of people supporting their company EVEN AFTER SAYING "FUCK YOUR HUMAN RIGHTS". If people are still supporting those companies after that its going to take extreme levels of stupidity on GW's part to lose their customer base, like a 5 Man Tact squad costing what a PS5 does level of stupid. It also doesn't help that GW knows how to milk their current customer base.

GW made 353.20m according to that site you quoted. Call of Duty Cold War is reported to have made 678m. Just because GW is "making so much money" doesn't mean its "winning" against Video Gaming. If one game can outperform their whole company that pretty much means they have an uphill battle when competing with gaming. How many Video Gamers that exist that don't play any Tabletop Gaming? How many Tabletop Gamers don't play Video Games? GW is usually a secondary hobby for people that can afford a secondary hobby. GW and Video Games only really compete when someone can only afford one hobby and Video Games kicks the shit out of GW in that Dept. Add in the fact about Console exclusivity to the mix and it makes it even harder for GW to gain ground against Video Games.

Did you know that back in the earlier lore of 40K, before they turned the Imperium into a parody of racism and fascism, they once had half-Eldars in the Ultramarines?

That would never fly in the modern era of 40K, where Eldar would usually get shot on sight and at best, would barely be tolerated by the humans.

GW changed the lore in the past to suit their needs. They wanted to make the Imperium into a satire of fascism and racism? Boom. They removed half-Eldars from the Ultramarines and made it so that, outside of a few exceptions, humans opened fire at the Eldar on sight.

If they changed the lore to fit in female Space Marines, that would hardly be the first time they made a major lore shift.

Disney is losing money and is closing down stores left and right TODAY. Months after the parks reopened. Most of their SW/MCU stuff at best gets milktoast hype, and at worst, gets laughed off by the fanbase that barely give a shit about them now. Meanwhile, despite the fact that GW is cozying up to the same Chinese regime Disney and Activision Blizzard did, despite the fact that they attacked fan animators on Youtube, and despite the fact that they've pissed off the lore nuts with kid-friendly books and the Primaris Marines, their profits continue to climb.

And as you said, GW knows how to milk its customer base. A customer base that doesn't give a shit about Primaris Marines, leftist politics, or kid-friendly stuff. They continue to buy, whereas the SW fandom called Disney's bluff and took their money elsewhere, with only TCW, the Bad Batch, and the Mandalorian having any success in garnering even the most lukewarm of interests.

I'm not saying GW is winning against video gaming. I compared them to Disney which is losing out on the SW fanbase. Compared to the big video game companies like Tencent, Activision Blizzard, and EA, Games Workshop is a bug. More people play CoD than tabletop wargaming, whether you're talking about adults or kids. Mostly because it's far easier to just boot up a game, get online, and start blowing people's brains out in an online match, rather than having to buy, assemble, and paint miniatures, and going over to your friends and playing the game with them in-person, whether in a house or in a game store. GW is making money hand over fist, but they've got a LONG way to go before even getting close to the profit margin of say, Nintendo, especially since even schools buy Nintendo consoles so the kids have something fun to play with afterschool.

But the point stands: they can and will make massive lore changes if it suits them. So if the SJW feminists make a big-enough push, GW will cave and make female Space Marines. They changed the Imperium from a force that accepts half-alien soldiers into its fold, to a xenophobic, superstitious pile of shit to make fun of racists and religious radicals, all to appease a very leftist way of thinking among Britain's population. So to make another lore change to appease the feminists isn't so strange. They've already broken with the lore with the Primaris Marines. Another change to appease another major group in the left isn't that out of the question.
