It doesn't sound like Bob and Barb dated a long time before marriage, which suggests it was a spur of the moment kind of thing at the height of their passion. I'd like to know if that (drunken) passion and lust died off before, during, or after Barb's pregnancy with Chris.

To Chris (provided he hasn't become jaded on the subject), that only confirms that his parents hoped and prayed against all odds that inserting Rod A into Slot B would pay off with a child to love furebber 'n' ebber.

I think that Borb thought they were safe since they were pretty up there in years so they couldn't possibly conceive.

I've heard that many older peeps tend to not use contraception just because they think they are safe, but then they found out they are not. Heck, there is also still STDs to watch out for too, I've heard stories of men and women in their 80s that contracted STDs from people in their nursing homes, no joke.
 
I've heard that senior citizens are among the highest groups that have STDs. It really is true that they don't think to use condoms when they/their partners can no longer get pregnant.

Regardless, Barb was in her 40's. Menopause doesn't typically start until after 50. They both had to have been well aware of the risks. They just ignored the risks in a night of drunken passion. If Chris didn't shit out the whole "my mommy was practically in menopause and my daddy was a senior citizen so I was a miracle!" thing on his own, they probably just told him that to make him feel good instead of admitting "yeah we were out drinking and we both got completely smashed so we weren't thinking when we decided to have as much sex as we could even though we were out of condoms."

I agree. As much as we like to blame Borb for Chris being the way he is (and they're responsible for a lot), the truth is that Chris was always destined to be a lolcow. It's in his DNA.

Barb's the one with the lolcow genes, and hence you got Chris. Otherwise, he'd be more like the rest of the Chandler family like that one eye doctor half-brother or that other one who was in the Phi Beta Kappa.
