Weight loss support thread

I'm poor and suspiciously ethnic so I've been doing 48 hour fasts twice a week - montue and Thu/fri small meat on Wednesday and I've cut out sugar, minimize carbs.
My working out is cardio, stretching and some curls because I work 12 hour shifts.and try to get good sleep .

I've lost about 40 pounds since the middle of September, they told me counting calories would be really difficult but its just annoying being hungry all the time 🤷‍♂️

I lost 2.5kg this week. Start weight was 95kg at 5'10".
My parents starved me as a child so I suffer from binge eating in adulthood because I've just never had the chance to eat whatever I want before. I gained the weight and am currently trying to slowly lose it. My goal weight is 80kg.

Good for you losing the weight. That's pretty impressive to lose that much so quickly. Keep it up. What kind of foods are you typically eating that you're always hungry? What's your water intake like? I find that while it's not one of my favourite foods avocado is pretty decent at helping to satiate me. Sometimes I'll have half of one in addition to a couple of slices of bacon and cheese for lunch. If you find yourself struggling to drink water, those little concentrated mixes that you just squirt in are pretty good and it's easy to find ones that are without calories. Plain water is of course ideal, but it's better than nothing if you're craving something on the sweet side.

I'm drinking around 112 oz of water a day, I got a jug that's about that size and I just fill it up and drink it mindlessly all day long, almost a fixation now since I trained myself to do it. I'm usually eating a protein with rice and beans in the morning, I made up these big batches of chicken, rice beans and cheese and I portioned them out in my fridge and heat one up every morning, then for lunch I eat little snacks like eggs, nuts, that sort of thing, and then at night I honestly eat whatever I want, just in moderation. I'm apparently overweight enough to where I can eat pizza and still lose weight, ha

For instance yesterday I ate my little chicken rice bowl (chicken, rice, black beans, little bit of cheese, diced onions and hot sauce on top), had a wrap for lunch (smoked turkey, lots of veggies, pepperjack, mustard, on a spinach wrap) and then for dinner I had a whole wheat sub sandwich thing (just a whole wheat sub roll with turkey, ham, vegetables and cheese with mustard and a little mayo)

Good on everyone for keeping focused on their goals. Just wanted to mention that artificial sweeteners, even though calorie free, might actually mess up your gut microbiome, and in mice anyway, actually be hurting your weight loss. It's kind of crazy. I don't want this to be demoralizing, and this all probably depends on your rate of consumption of artificial sweeteners, I just think it's important to know how they might do the opposite of what you want. When I found out about this, it was aggravating.

I found putting a fresh sprig of mint in my water bottle and leaving it in the fridge overnight really can help things taste-wise. Mint also grows like a weed, so there are options if you don't want to buy it. I'd probably go peppermint over spearmint though.

Hey, so I just found this thread. I started losing weight back in 2015 or so after reading about the Slaton's here. I dropped about 100 pounds over the next two years and have kept it off since then. Despite being on a handful of psych meds. Fuck yeah.

I've still got about 40 pounds to go before I hit my original goal. I've also noticed the weight is slowly creeping up, I've gained a couple pounds over the last few months. Do not want.

So as hard as its going to be, I'm going to get back on the wagon. I try to eat between 7-3 every day, but my diet itself is still terrible. I need to find a way to cook cheap, fast (not involved/lots of standing and chopping), and healthy meals.

I've thought about just eating the same thing every day. I eat the same thing every day for breakfast, so why not expand that concept? Has anyone done similar?

Hey all. My heaviest ever was 175. Worked hard to get down to an ideal 131 and was in the best shape of my life. Right now I’m wavering around 150 due to getting complacent the past year.

Looking to lose ~20 pounds through CICO, light strength training and mostly walking (running only when I get some of this weight off of my joints). Am waman so that’s why my numbers are so low.

First order of business is cutting out fast food and eliminating liquid calories.

Something I’ve found that helps my vain ass is putting all my old clothes that fit in a big box that I can only “unlock” once I hit a certain goal weight (written on a sticky note on top). They don’t fit me right now anyways, so there’s no point in them taking up space in my closet.

Sounds like you’re talking about meal prepping. It’s the same concept- you cook your breakfasts/lunches/dinners in one giant bulk batch and eat the same thing throughout the week(s). It’s helpful if you don’t want to think about portion control/calories/or hitting specific counts in macronutrients.

As much as people meme about it there’s a reason why body builders prep nothing but rice, chicken breast and broccoli for their competitions, lol.

I think eating the same thing every day is a good idea if it's something you can do. It's easier because you don't have to log or think about calories or macros if you've already accounted for all of that, and it's sort of comforting like a ritual. It might be nice to have small menu differences each day, though, like several choices for healthy afternoon snacks or varied side dishes with dinner.

I know Reddit is a cesspool, but you should check out r/eatcheapandhealthy for meal ideas.

Been losing weight so I die old instead of fat.

Lost 20 lbs over 4 months, then hit a plateau for a while.

Then I got on the Keto diet. I have to say it works for me. lost another 50 lbs over 3 months

Got a little ways to go to get to my target weight, but I am getting there relatively quickly.

So Keto works, just don't try to fag it up with bread, pasta, and sugar substitutes.

Haven't checked in since Febuary maybe? But i'm currently 163-161 lbs now from the I think 180 lbs I was last time I posted? Even with my short 5 '2.5" self the doctor recommended 150lbs for me. I still want to hit 145 since it was my original goal but it's nice to know my doctor's looking out for me so I don't enter any unhealthy territory.

Had to buy a whole new wardrobe more or less and i'm not used to it. I keep accidently buying stuff that's way too big and having to go return it since most t-shirts look like a dress on me. I refuse to wear girl cut stuff since it feels weird on my bulky shoulders, but L-XL unisex shirts usually do the trick.
Anyone know a good way to build up the triceps? That and my front thighs are the fattest parts of my body more or less. Outside of that everything else is pretty uniformed.

I've tried meal prepping, but it didn’t stick. I'm actually a pretty picky eater and in general leftovers are something I can't get myself to eat. I think it's a texture sensitivity thing from adhd, because I don't have autism. Maybe I'm just a tard. My brain is definitely not okay!

Food prepping comes pretty close to leftovers to my fucked up brain. It's worth another try though! I'll check out that subreddit someone else mentioned too. Ideally I'd have four or five recipes that are cheap, healthy, and easy to cook that I can rotate through.

I have decided that breaking the habit of buying extra treats every time I go shopping is a good idea. It's largely how I lost the weight in the first place. I am going to make an effort to get back to doing all my shopping only once a week and only buy pizza rolls every other week. Today I went shopping and didn't buy anything extra! Go me.

I know there's controversy about artificial sweeteners, but I use them daily in my coffee and have always drank diet Coke and they didn't hinder my weight loss at all. I can tell you the theory about them spiking your insulin is fucking bullshit, because then diabetics couldn't drink them.

I've lost a total of 4.5kg since my arrival at the hospital. That's about 10 pounds in less than a month. I've been doing it simply by controlling my binge eating. They weigh us every week here, and each week I go down by about 1kg, which I think is a healthy pace.

This morning, without clothes, I weighed in at 91.4kg, down from 95.9kg. (201, down from 211lbs) I'm finally almost out of the 200s. I know if I keep my binge eating under control I'll probably keep slowly losing weight.

Like I said, I suffered starvation at the hands of my parents as a child which is the cause of my binge eating. But I was also an anorexic for about 6 years, so when losing weight, I unfortunately have to be careful not to fall back into old habits. I'll admit I'm frustrated at my "slow progress" because I'm used to dropping dozens of pounds very fast. But I'm finally doing this the healthy way, through an improved and controlled diet rather than just restricting. I feel proud of myself that I'm finally mentally well enough to be able to lose weight healthily and I hope to reach my goal weight sometime in the spring of next year.

Anyone just fasting 16/18 hours a day, period? I skip my breakfast and have black coffee, as I hate making breakfast, and then eat a lunch around 12-1 and dinner before 8. It's simple and easy, but I still kinda just.. feel fat and inflated. Sure I eat candy now and then which I didnt before I started fasting, but surely fasting 18 hours every single day should sort of regulate that.

I can go completely cold turkey and eat only chicken and rice for a few days and sort of hit my normal, but sometimes I just fluctuate. The less I eat, the more interested I become in cooking. Very odd, given after losing 45lb on a 1300 kcal diet, I started hating having to cook and eat.
Yup, doing the 16/8 fast as well. The key is not to eat things like candy during that 8 hour window where you can eat, but eat decently and not overeat to "make up". Candy/high sugar will spike your insulin after a fast. I personally think it would be better to cut the candy out and eat more filling, high protien/fat food, rather than going from one extreme of "going cold turkey" to pigging out on sweets. Cook food that you would want to eat, within reason.

That and walk when possible. At a decent pace you can blow 2 miles in 30 mins. Times 7 days a week, it's not bad.

Guess I'm trying to thin down before the inevitable Christmas gorging on puddings and pies happens.

I got started on keto about a little over a month ago and I've gone down a size and a half. Was a size Aus 14 (US 10) and now getting really close to a size Aus 10 (US 6) (size 12s are becoming looser on me).
Still need to do more exercise but I'm feel pretty good about things so far!

I am now in the upper range of 121 pounds. I have still six more pounds to lose until I am my ideal body weight for my frame size. I plateaued for about two weeks. It seems like after a plateau, the weight just drops off. My ultimate short-term weight loss goal was to weigh 117 for my vacation on the 9th of this month. I was only four pounds away from my goal, but close enough. I have been skipping dinner in a bid to lose more weight. I try to fill up during second breakfast, lunch, and snack. My long-term weight loss goal is to weigh 100 pounds by next December for my college graduation.

The good news is that the BCD that I bought fits me perfectly. I am so happy. I still have inches left on the cumberbund when my body decides my hips are next to lose inches off. The wetsuits that I bought are a bit loose in the limbs and are not too tight. I regret buying them near the end of October. I could have gone down one size.

What I have been noticing is that I lost all of these inches off of my boobs, then it stopped. Now, I am losing inches off of my waist now.

Disclaimer I am a short, petite, fine-boned woman of Scandinavian heritage. I do not have anorexia yet.
