Weight loss support thread

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
I started to treat my weight loss like a video game difficulty slider
I start on Ultra Nightmare (24 hour fast) and if I find that's too difficult I lower it to Ultra Violence (16 hour fast)
The last time I was posting in this thread (summer 2024) I was dead set on Ultra Nightmare only and it burned me out fast.
Try a 7 day one of these days.

Day 3 is the hardest, after that it's just about keeping yourself busy. After even a 3 day fast the 16 or 24 hour ones are pretty easy. Electrolyte drinks are useful (Snake Juice / Multi-Salt water or sugar free electrolyte drink mixes) to help stave off weirdness.

One odd side effect I noticed after a 3 day fast is all my allergies ended and have never came back. No more sniffles or sneezing around the local trees, which I've suffered from for the two decades since moving here. I suspect my immune system response reset (autophagy ftw) because of it.

256 > 254.

Slowed down a bit. Wondering if im putting on a small amount of muscle while losing weight to cause the slow down. Ive definitely upped my intensity when it comes to lifting as well as added a few new movements. Lost enough now though that an old shirt I used to wear 5-6 years ago is fitting again.

One thing ive found is that really giving up sweets/junk food is pretty damn easy once you get used to it after 1-2 months. Like I want to eat a bowl of icecream because I know it taste good rather than because im "craving" it. End result its pretty easy to just not eat any.

Recalculate your TDEE. As your weight goes down, so does that.

it's crazy how much your appetite plummets after a day of fasting. i don't typically fast, but did yesterday (accidentally, i was too tired to make food lol) for the first time in years. typically this time of day i'm starving, but today i have no appetite whatsoever. i guess i somewhat remember this from when i was younger. i fasted two weeks when i was in high school once. anyways. down to 140.

I'm chasing down a bench press PR and it can't come soon enough, I feel like a fat fuck. I'm the strongest I've ever been in my life but also the heaviest., even heavier than when I let myself comfort eat after my dad died. Realistically 2-4 more weeks until I can start fasting again.

I just need to complain about it.

Seems to be a minimal difference between 272 and 254. 150 calories or so.

Cardiovascular is still improving. The hike I do once a week and track metrics due to my fitbit is still improving. Knocked 25 seconds off my time to the top of the mountain, 22.20 > 21.55.

That minimal difference adds up to a little over 1000 calories for the week, which is almost a whole third of the 3500 calories for one pound of weight loss a week. So you might want to rethink that 150 calories a day.

Guys, I lost 8 pounds in four weeks!! That’s better than when I was on keto. I’m calorie counting and eating more protein now. I’ve also been walking. I’m nearly under 90kg again. I’m still considered obese but getting closer to the overweight mark.

Weighed in at 147.1 this past Thursday! I did the New Year's meme weight loss journey thing- I started January 1st at 159 pounds 0_0
As of today I am 144 pounds! Holy shit!
Mon/Wed/Fri: Hour walk ~3 miles
Tues/Th: Progressive overload on pull up assist machine, leg press, and then to finish up I go and do some barbell work with the beefcakes in the free weights section.

PBs
Pullups: 55 pounds assisted (machine takes off 55 pounds from my body weight)
Leg Press: 90 pounds
Bench: 30 pound barbell (next goal is the Olympic barbell ~44 pounds )

I had a week this past month where I went ridiculously over on calories, but I got right back on the wagon. It came out to about 1 pound maintained instead of lost, but you know what? I didn't let that L hold me back bitch. Right now I'm also kind of having a crisis right now with crazy family members but I'm determined to not let them derail me or my progress.

I have busted out my box of 140s era clothing and am hanging it all back up in the closet. Definitely some stuff is looking pretty ratty or out of style but I'd like the chance to experience wearing it again before I donate it :3

I cannot wait to see 139.9 on the scale!

Awesome man. My goal is to be under 200 at the end of the year. I just hit 235. Meeting with a doctor today to do some labs and see how everything is going. My last labs pretty much scared the shit out of me so I’ve been working my ass off the last 4 months and just lost a little over 40 lbs.

Can we talk about how fucked up the food pyramid is? It’s crazy that people are still recommended it. When I was referred to a dietitian a few years ago she recommended it to me. I was ignorant about nutrition then and assumed she knew what she was talking about so followed her advice. I lost around 2 pounds in a month doing that. I was eating far too many grains and not enough protein. That turned me off weight loss for a while, I thought there was something wrong with me.

I am eating more fruit this time. I was a little worried about the carbs and sugar but it seems to be working out well. I do like fruit.

The fiber balances out the sugars. That's why they say check the net carbs.

I've lost 30 pounds since May. I have 60 more to go and my goal is around 150 pounds.

The weight-loss was brutal. Murder. Brutal. In the summer I undertook it mostly and kicked my own ass at the gym. My Asthma flared, my skin went crazy with boils or whatever the hell was going on and my throat kept getting hoarse and I felt persistently dizzy but I kept going. My body was fighting me but I persisted through all these negative side affects.

Now that weight is gone. It was worth it to be under 200 pounds again for the first time in 7 years. I'm still losing weight by the week though slowly and the health problems like asthma and skin issues have calmed down or totally went away. I no longer have the vertigo sensation after working out and my stamina is good.

I am less depressed as well. Not just over my *weight" but I don't get really 'down' and hopeless like I did before. I'm not optimistic but just feel 'fine' and like my mental health has actually improved.

I've been using my extremely steep driveway for cardio. I can punish my glutes and send my heart rate to 120+ at the same time. Weigh in is tomorrow and I'm feeling hopeful. Almost committed to going to the gym with my husband today to do some Nautilus type work. And hot tub. I can cross my fingers and hope that I don't lose use of my legs in it, Embarrassing. Not written from personal experience :woo:

254 > 253. So about 1.1 pounds per week since mid November.

Down to 158 (started at 200), mom is worried that I'm losing too much weight. Going to cut to 150.

I really regret not weight training, I'm extremely frail now... It's still better than being fat though.
Realistically youre in the best spot now. When it comes to fat and muscle, you generally only want to be focusing on one or the other. Trying to burn fat while building muscle is incredibly hard and gives subpar results vs focusing on losing weight or building muscle.

How often do you weigh? I was doing it once a week but do it once a month or so now.

I've been cutting it down once a week now. I used to do twice but realized it might fuck with me. I also take it as a day by day journey. some days I stay on track other days I might have a bagel as a cheat meal but that's really it. If anything by watching these fat acceptance videos out there on YouTube I use them as motivation to never go back to my old ways.

I’m watching someone on YouTube react to My 600 Pound Life right now funnily enough. I did eat some Indian food and wine on the weekend but that’s as far as I’ve gone so far.
