I did my first injection of zepbound 2.5 mg into my stomach on Sunday morning. Ate some chicken like normal, had the same appetite and wondered if the stuff even works.
Woke up yesterday tired all day, apparently that's a side effect. Drank a bunch of tea for the caffeine to keep me awake at work, but I have had zero appetite since Monday morning. I made myself eat a can of albacore just to get something in my stomach.
Woke up today less tired, but again I'm not hungry. I'll probably make myself eat a little something at the end of the night but this is actually pretty awesome. Not having the hunger pangs is really helpful.
I walked 3 miles yesterday and intend on doing it again today.
The only side effects I'm experiencing are fatigue and thirst. I'm not drinking like crazy but I have noticed that I'm drinking the appropriate amount of water. They recommend about a gallon a day for men, and if I'm not hitting that I'm getting pretty damn close.
I'm actually pretty stoked to be doing this.
Yeah not feeling hungry helps, you'll probably also notice the lack of cravings. Just remind yourself to eat and make sure to drink water. For the fatigue something I've noticed is that may be because of a lack of electrolytes, since you aren't eating as much and your salt intake in general has probably gone down.

I felt tired a few times and drank a poweraide zero or sucked on a bouillon cubes and felt fine after. I don't feel the fatigure really at all anymore, but I've been on it for five weeks

Salt helps is good to know. I felt really bad because I fell asleep at about 9:30 last night and I never do that. I make it a point to stay awake until my girlfriend gets home after her watch so I know she's safe. I haven't fallen asleep before her getting home since she moved in.
Another thing I realized is I'm not going to slip up with drinking because even thinking about having a beer makes me nauseous. I would imagine you feel so disgustingly full after one that there's no way you'd be able to drink enough to get buzzed.
Plus with all the yeast and calories booze is pretty much like drinking cans of bread.
I'm thinking that zepbound plus no more soda plus no more alcohol combined with exercise and eating better is going to be a winning combination.

This happens to me, I stay up to about 10 and my brain just goes "man sleep sure sounds good"

I just took my 2nd injection 28ml of 9mg/ml compounded tirzepatide. My fasting glucose has been high for years, and my A1C shows prediabetes, and my BMI has seesawed from 32 to 30 for years also. I was normal weight til 2020: no exercise and no reduction in calories had my weight increasing every month, and as a shorty (61.75 inches) the overweight really shows.

My first week was interesting. I think I didn't hit the tare on my scale on the first day....I've been hovering around 159-160, but a week ago I was 155.8? I was surprised but attributed it to a small but steady weight loss I'd been experiencing because I'm having dental implants and have been on soft diet for 3 months. Anyway, that means I feel like my weight loss by scale hasn't been accurate so far and I'll have to see what it's like in the coming week. I'm 155.4 now and yes my bowels are operational LOL. My huzzzbin thinks my face is a bit thinner (I agree) and a robe I wear that has been a tiny bit snug since I got it, feels looser.

I was very tired, and took a few naps. I was quietly queasy, not enough to barf, but enough to alter my day. I'm older, and while I don't (much) care if my body looks like a melted ice cream cone after this, I don't want "Ozempic face". I read it can be helped by increasing protein in diet (1 gram for every pound of goal weight?), so I've added a protein powder drink am and pm, 26 grams of protein each.

I subscribe to Factor meals, and you can filter for high protein, and GLP-1 support, among other things. I can't eat a whole one at a sitting (no appetite, start to get nauseous), so I eat half for lunch and half for dinner. Other things I've eaten, keeping protein count in the forefront are: 2 Tbsps peanut butter, 1/2 cup 4% cottage cheese, can of tuna with 1 Tbsp mayo, container of LaYogurt probiotic yogurt. I need to go grocery shopping and get eggs, and sardines, among other things, I've averaged 911 calories/ day, but I'm not counting calories per se.

I also take 2 psyllium fiber capsules in am and pm, and I started taking 2 Dulcolax (bisocodyl) tablets at night...only because I have some in the house, but I want to get some senna/docusate because that's what the online prescriber recommended.

Anyway, that's me, I have been reading other stories with interest, and am looking forward to seeing everyone's progress.

Weight can fluctuate rapidly day-by-day with both carbs and water intake. That’s good to hear about everyone’s progress on tirezpatide. I’ve been curious about it. 1g of protein per pound of goal body weight on a cut is a good rule of thumb (that’s also what I aim for).

I’m coming to the end of a 24 hour water fast I decided to embark on yesterday afternoon. Currently still feel pretty energized. I am slightly irritable and also hungry but it’s not debilitating. I don’t plan on eating when I get off work so I’ll be able to push this to 36+ hours. I’ll report back in with how far I make it. I made sure to get a small amount of electrolytes in this morning along with some salt and cayenne powder in my pre-workout.

Soo I was right. Despite eating what feels like constantly I have yet to gain a single pound in the entire first trimester. Im sure this will change it trimester 2, but its kind of nice that I think my weight gain from the pregnancy will be minimal. Ive definitely gotten larger in the right places (chest, belly) but the scale hasn't changed from my pre pregnancy weight. I'm already looking forward to getting back into the healthy, diet eating but for now im chilling. I might be back in a year or so but I've heard losing pregnancy weight is a different beast than losing normal fat. I guess we will see! Good luck to everyone on their health journeys.

Still going strong about 39~ hours in. I’ve actually been about 43 hours now without food, but it’s been since 3:30PM on Tuesday since I last had anything with substantial caloric content. Energy is certainly low right now, and I feel slightly more emotional than usual, but this is all bearable. Since I’m close, I may end pushing to 48 hours depending on bad things get. With no food in system I did weight in 3 pounds under the previous day which I found interesting.

Still supplementing this fast with vitamins and micronutrients. Under a microscope, I believe I’m averaging 16 calories a day between the vitamins and the Gatorade powder.

Any advice on how to do a water fast? Specifically, how to deal with hunger pains? When I'm hungry, my stomach cramps up and I can really feel it.

Snake Juice, maybe?

Water: 1 Liter (approx. 4 cups)
Potassium Chloride (NoSalt): 1 tsp
Sodium Chloride (Pink Himalayan Salt or Sea Salt): 1/2 tsp
Sodium Bicarbonate (Baking Soda): 1 tsp
Magnesium Sulphate (Food Grade Epsom Salts): 1/2 tsp

Lemon or Lime juice added doesn't count as breaking a water fast, too.

I’m no expert, and I’ve only ever fasted for over 24 hours twice before this, but I recommend taking Glucomannan for a period of weeks leading up to when you want to fast. Glucomannan is helpful at absorbing water in your system and creating a “full” feeling in your stomach.

I haven’t experienced any cramping yet, only a sort of nausea/slight stomach pain. I would make sure you’re getting in enough sodium, electrolytes and micronutrients to supplement the fast.

Take a few sips of water. Sometimes when you are eating normally and you feel hungry, your body is dehydrated. A mouthful or two usually works. Usually that should cover the hunger pains. Honestly don't know how it works with a water fast but it's just a good daily habit anyway with regular dieting and it will help keep the hunger pains at bay. Then I guess stick to a regular meal schedule with you glass of water or two for your "meal" maybe?

Stopped the fast at 43 hours and ate lunch today. Really wanted to “David Goggins” until the end of the day but I caved and had some lunch.

My thoughts on the water fast: I think it was beneficial. I had a friend I work with that asked me today why I chose to fast, I told him that I more or less did it to see if I could. It’s nice to that I have the ability to exert this sort of will on myself, and not give into every temptation. I certainly hit a sort of “euphoria” that lasted late yesterday into this morning. I also felt lighter and looked slightly more vascular.

If there is a next time I decide to do this, I believe I’ll start on Thursday. If I didn’t have to work today, I believe I could’ve made it until the end of the day without eating, but my lack of energy began to eat away at me towards the end.

What is the general consensus on "performance enhancers" like ozympic or zepbound? Has anyone in this threat ever tried them or have heard anything positive?
I have! I love them! Strong recommend!
I have a whole bunch more to say but don't wanna derail with my late post so spoilered below:

Chiming in a bit late, but I posted in this thread in July (original post here) when I had been on Zepbound/tirzepatide for about a year. It's now been a little over a year and a half. I'm down 120 lbs total. About 85 of that I lost in the first year, the other 35 in the last 8 months. I'm no longer obese per BMI, for the first time since at least early childhood, and I might actually even get to a "normal" weight (currently in a bit of a plateau at 150 lbs, about 15 lbs away at from healthy BMI at 5'2").

I don't think it's (too much of) an exaggeration to say that this drug has saved my life. I can't speak to the experience of someone who is trying to just lose 30 lbs or whatever - maybe the side effects wouldn't be worth it- but I have been pretty fat to REALLY fat for most of my life. Like nearing 300 lbs at 5'2". REALLY FAT. And if you're a person like me who has struggled for your entire life with the chronic disease of obesity, this medication can straight up cure it. As detailed in my earlier post, I lost over 100 lbs before and later gained most of it back - it's not that I don't have the knowledge, willpower, or discipline to lose weight, it's that something is wonky in my endocrine system and this has fixed it. I've never been diabetic or even close to pre-diabetic, and I can't say I totally understand the science of what hormonal switches are being flipped etc, but whatever it is, it works for me, and obviously for a lot of other people, too.

I have begun to think about what tapering down/off might look like at some point. I'd like to get a DEXA scan to see what exactly my body composition is and how much fat I have left to lose. While I would like to take less medications overall, I'm not opposed to staying on some low/maintenance dose forever if I need to. It is nice to know that if I got off the meds and started gaining weight back, the medicine is always available to me. I don't think I would ever let myself gain even 20% of it back - the way my life has changed and how good I feel in my body is too precious to give up - but I also said that when I lost 110 lbs in 2018, so I'm well aware of how bad things can get if, well, things get bad.

I had to switch insurance due to work and my new insurance doesn't cover Zepbound (which is just so fucking ridiculous I could scream - if I had some other lifelong chronic condition that was cured by a medication with minimal side effects, it would be crazy to just NOT cover it, right?) so I switched back to compounded. Paying about $150/month instead of the $30 for insurance-covered brand name. Happy to share the telehealth I'm getting it from if anyone is interested, but not shilling for a random company so won't put it here.

I'm not sure if, like bariatric surgery, there is a "magic" period in the first 12-18 months with lessening effects after that. I did recently increase my dose as I felt some of the food noise returning and appetite suppression lessening, but I stayed at 10mg for almost 6 months. Generally I feel like the drug is still doing it's job.

Since my original post I started working out again in October - mostly lifting heavy in the gym, and will start training for a spring half marathon next week. It's been interesting to work out without thinking about weight loss (because the weight loss has happened anyway). Kind of dumb, but as a lifelong fatass I'd never experienced it before... working out is good even if you're not doing it to lose weight. I wish I hadn't stopped lifting (from about January-October 2025) because I'm sure I lost more muscle mass than I needed to, but glad to be back at it now, and excited to see how adding cardio in changes things up.

I've seen several posts from people just starting the medication (exciting! looking forward to hearing your progress!). A few tips: the main side effects I experienced at the beginning were heartburn and constipation. I now take famotidine and MiraLAX every day. My doc said both are fine to take daily. If I do that, I don't have heartburn and I poop good. Drinking lots of water also helps with the pooping good. Continue or start some weight training to avoid losing as much muscle (but also, as long as you don't out-eat the medication like a psycho, you'll lose weight regardless).

I keep joking that they should put my picture on the box because I've had such stellar results and because I am so effusive when talking about it. And I talk about it to whoever asks, I'm always very upfront when someone comments on my weight loss and happy to tell people about my experience. This drug is amazing and if more people could experience life without obesity (especially if they've been obese forever), I genuinely think the world would be a better place. Obesity is a disease and it fucking sucks to be sick. I'll take the title of GLP-1 evangelist with pride. Also I'm hot now so honestly they really should put me on the box I think?

Fuck me dead, nobody told me that I would be burping up garlic chicken from Saturday night all the way until this morning on zepbound. I also haven't eaten since then.
This shit really works though.

Tums and omeprazoleare life savers when dealing with the heartburn Zepbound gives you.

Also I found this at work 3d1a18ab-b71e-4726-9cc7-7992aada4319.jpg.webp

They have a 0 sugar version too but the whole thing is like 5 grams net carbs

I already take prescription strength prilosec, it's not heartburn because I'm not feeling heartburn it's just gross to be burping up the taste of garlic chicken two days later.
Jesus, you guys really weren't kidding about that constipation either.

Magnesium is a huge help with the constipation. You don't even have to take it as a supplement, I started ordering this for the electrolytes,

Raspberry_90.jpgRaspberry_f28d1de5-d6c5-4758-ba76-fea1480ca32e.jpg

Since it has no carbs or sugars and I need to get better about drinking water. I got my roommate to start drinking it too and she noted that it had magnesium in it, which is keeping both of us regular.

She's pregnant and has been off and on constipated the whole time, so she was pretty happy that this fixed the issue for her.

If you don't need an electrolyte drink though you can also go get that liquid magnesium or other constipation aid at a store instead, those help alot as well.

on zepbound
I was actually having more heartburn *before* tirzepatide, because of my gut pushing up. It was beyond the help of Tums...baking soda in water helps way more. The heartburn seems to be settling down though. I take Plavix so proton pump inhibitors like Prilosec and Nexium not appropriate. If I really start suffering, I may ask my cardiologist to switch me back to baby aspirin.

What's frustrating me now is that I'm not losing weight. It's definitely because of constipation (I'm visibly thinner in the face, and some clothes feel looser), and I'm trying to find a balance. My prescribed recommended senna/docusate supplemented with Miralax if needed. I'm trying to avoid stimulant laxatives, and have been trying to manage with psyllium capsules...I've worked up to 3 capsules 3 times a day, but I had no "action" till I took a Dulcolax (another stimulant laxative) Saturday night. Took one last night but nothing exciting happened.

I know from dieting my whole life that daily weighing aren't a good idea, but it's hard to resist. Also, I actually get hungry...hunger pangs and all...though once I start to eat, I'm full or uninterested very quickly.

So nice to hear other people's stories, whether it's a GLP-1 story or not.
