And here we are today, surely only a few hours from another session of Meat scream-singing another 80s power ballad in full and forcing comments about his taint into a Reddit story about possessed incels or some shit while Wendigoon alternately stares effeminately in the background or shouts near-brainrotisms about how “back” we are, despite it seeming to be “so over.”

Creepcast | The Whistlers

Guessing by the name "the whistlers" and how it's a highly rated r/nosleep story, I'm gonna go out on a limb and assume it's either about a bunch of scary le skinwalker knockoffs, or it's another one of those rule stories where you're supposed to ignore some weirdos who are whistling at you or they'll shapeshift and kill you, and it's all about the protagonist breaking said rule because they're bored, or both.

A thought occurred to me about these types of stories.
There’s probably a ton of them, but a survival-horror videogame where you get lost in the woods, have to survive, and are stalked by strange entities would be pretty lit.
Like, you have to go from point A to point B but on the way you’re being hunted by skinwalkers so you have to balance survival with stealth.

The creepypasta you want them to read has NO SET SCHEDULE, the recording is done when it's done and will be released when it's done. In case you haven't noticed the boys have been busy recently and if you Haven't WAKE UP ALREADY! Windigoon released a movie a while back, hunter is working on a movie Currently as explained a Creepcast ago, Wendi is having a baby and trying to maintain the second channel.

It was a short film actually.
Not bad though it's clear that Hunter would never release the cartoons in it.
School shooter Finias and Ferb, pregnancy scare breaking bad, Anti-trans Shrek, no one believes hunter would ever make that shit.

i balked at the inital length of the rapture video but im 1 hour or so in and its pretty comfy, mix of decent bible tism and geniune anger/passion at this black pastor guy, seems better than the petscop or kepther shit

One of the best written stories they’ve read so far (at least from a structural/English perspective. The subject matter is somewhat derivative (skinwalker/wendigo rip-off) but I do have a soft spot for it and spooky woods. Only the cliche “romance” element strikes me as being a truly significant blemish. Also, kudos for being able to abide by the nosleep rules without completely ruining the story like so many others). As an episode it was fine, I suppose it’s good that there’s a mixture of good/bad/meh stories and straight/meandering readings as it helps the pod feel fresh, though I’d be lying if I said I didn’t vastly prefer when they read and riff on garbage.

I was re-listening to that first Grab Bag they did with Ben Drowned and Normal Porn, and I seriously cannot over state how good Normal Porn For Normal People is. Always loved this story. It's the perfect amount of believable. Even the Chimp at the end isn't that outlandish when shit like FunkyTown exists.

Where did that ‘horror of the Internet’ genre go? It was a good genre, and uniquely believable because of the actually insane shit that is on the Internet.

Doing the new story now. It's kinda neat so far.

I question Goon's logic in the "how soon could your spouse move on if they think you're dead" scenario. 2 weeks to move on entirely is nothing. Hunter saying "45 minutes" made me lul.
Goon also didn't know what a Ptarmigan was so it's the author's fault for not just saying bird :story:

It mostly got played out in early to mid twenty tens with the explosion of mainstream coverage and misinformation on what the deep web was. That caused a flood of stories where someone once looked at the Tor browser then got immediately raped by a million deep web hacker hitmen while it was all streamed on a red room. It kinda killed the genre because every story nearly followed that formula.

Women be like "Erhm. I've been put in immediate life threatening danger. Time to sleep with my husband's brother!" The story would've been better if they both got Timothy Treadwell'd.

The beginning was really cool, but the further it went on the more you realize the author didn't think this through enough. Many of its ideas are pretty good in isolation, but altogether creates a disjointed mess of a narrative and setting... or maybe I lost too much patience at the "le scary thing is ackshually trying to warn us against something worse!!!" part (AKA finding the dead woman in the freezer) to pay as much attention as I should have. The twist worked in Broodhollow... not so much here. You can just say they eat people, or their souls or something. That we're the real prey here and something something Missing 411. This story is far too short to map out cryptozoological ecosystems in any kind of satisfying way (imagine that story).

The stay in Red Hill has strong The Long Dark vibes though, which I thought was pretty neat. Imagine if this was done in that artstyle and setting.

Story was solid. I like the Whistlers weren't even the real monster. They were just kind of there (or not). The real monster was something the Whistlers hunted. If the monster or whistlers were even real. Could just be group psychosis. Wendi going "We're so bad" had me so fucking scared that this story was about to jump straight off a cliff.

I actually really liked the whistlers asides from the author underestimating how bad the hunger would weaken the group and how much more the focus would be on food.

That was my main issue with the story. They all should have froze to death.

I also don't understand why the whistlers needed so many attempts to catch the other monster. Were they luring more than one?

Really loved this one, definitely a top five story for me, maybe top three. Found a youtube comment that I thought raised an interesting point

Don't have a ton to say about it but I really liked the first part, then the second part just cranked it up to 11 with the extra info on the whistlers and all the scheming/treachery going on in the group.

I agree on the duration of the story being a bit unbelievable, but if you replaced months with weeks and weeks with days it'd be 10x more plausible. You could have had them stuck in the town for a few months if that extended isolation was important to you, just have there be a bit of non-perishable food left behind
