The second episode of a fox in space is out now. 6 or so years after the first one.
Edit: I'm still blown away by this guy's dialogue and atmosphere. For a fan made cartoon, it's waaaay above modern cartoon shows. If only this guy or someone with his style could make something similar to this with a budget and studio. An animated noir or a actually mature show would really be popular in this current creative blackhole era.
After years and years of doing backbreaking work, including learning blender to imitate his 70's animation style, the motherfucker finally managed to release his magnum opus part 2.
This cartoon is actually pretty good. I don't play
Star Fox but I do know some aspects of the lore like Andross but I like how all the characters, including the antagonists, are easily to connect to as the audience. And bro, it's not even the fact that this dude voices good dialogue, the creator of this show, voiced 90% of the characters: James McCloud, Peppy Hare, Andross, etc. to name a few.
Gems of March
Seems like some good indie cartoons and animations have popped up this month. However, it's only 4 good ones this month from what I have seen in YouTube.
Lackadaisy - premiering on March 29
I'm more on the fence with this, as I still am a little skeptical of anthropomorphic stuff, thanks to
my rant on the status on indie animations on YouTube. Despite this, I love the 2D animation style, environments, and character designs (would probably make people furries). It features the protagonists (which are cats) finding ways to sell alcohol in the 1920s Prohibition Era. Lots of references to 1920s fashion, dance, music, and architecture, maybe Lackadaisy could be the historical drama I was looking for via immersion, though the anthropomorphic stuff still annoys me.
LEGO Battle for Caen
JD Brick Productions, known for his LEGO stopmotions in historical battles, has now made one featuring the 1944 Battle for Caen in Normandy, using both stopmotion and Blender to create the battle, and featuring a lot of prominent tanks that he custom built such as the Tiger I and the Panzer III. Action, cinematography, and violence is top notch, with a theme that centers on the brutality of the war with many casualties on each side.
HALO - Remember - SFM (Western-influenced but non-Western though)
I love the animated short films from South Korean SFM animator SODAZ, as some of the Warhammer 40k films that he did were intense and had good action and cinematography. It's a shame that Games Workshop went after all of his shit and toxic fans kicked him out of doing 40k animations. SODAZ is now doing SFM films dedicated to video games that he love, such as
Titanfall,
S.T.A.L.K.E.R., and his recent release,
Halo: Reach.
