Yeah.... this is going to be an absolute bomb that'll be the next in line in Pixar's failure streak.

and here's some old copium from one of the youtubers in the "cartoon community" as far as the film's quality goes.

will this finally be the last nail in the Pixar coffin? Or the first? God knows this company isn't going to survive another bomb or two, they're already on the ropes with Disney's dogshit finances and their own string of failures

Aside from Clone High and Beavis and Butt-head, I'm willing to argue that Undergrads should be in the conversation as best choices of how MTV handled animation programs.

It will be nails halfway down the coffin. The lid is loose leaving room to breathe, but not much.

A majority of the Pixar original crew are gone, the current crop of CalArts greens aren't giving the place the nutrients it needs to keep being unstoppable, thus making the studio at this point a brand name. A brand name that still gets interest despite the flops because of the past successes still holding up.

And even if they have a yard sale and put Pixar up there, who's gonna buy it after the points I just listed? It's not Star Wars that still has a lot of shit they could do. The previous movies made under Disney can't come with so there's no resell value or IP mining (unlike SW which haha disney can keep all their bullshit). After all that said if Disney goes down, Pixar is going down with them kicking and screaming.

No point. They crowdfunded it and are still working on it.

frankly I can see Illumination or Sony vying for it since- as you mentioned- the name still holds prestige over all else (and probably never won't), but otherwise
Either one of those two would be a (deserved) petty bitch slap to Disney. Illumination would be better to buy it given their humongous W for pulling off the super mario bros movie and becoming a force all their own (like Blue Sky was for a moment). Sony doing it might sour their stepparent relationship with Disney over SpiderMan and I can't see them bothering given their other interests (video games and shit).

FUCK no, have you seen the rest of their catalogue? Illumination buying Pixar would be a grim joke- I just made it because it genuinely seems plausible considering the state of the industry. If a studio as creatively bankrupt and milquetoast as Illumination ever gets its grubby hands on Pixar, I'll know the industry is truly dead.

Fuck that. Illumination buying Pixar will make the situation much worse. Shit, at least I understood Universal allowing Illumination to buy DreamWorks back in 2016 (for better or worse) when the latter was suffering from financial trouble, because at least Illumination is making DreamWorks relevant again. This can never, and I refuse to see Illumination buy Pixar's catalogue.

Plus, at least Blue Sky still made good movies when they want to when they're not focused on Ice Age movies as mandated by the studio.

hey you're the one who put them on the board of possibility! Don't bite my ass for attempting to put logic in a crazy idea. And Nintendo was tardwrangling Illumination to make sure their film wouldn't be like the rest of their catalogue. Illumination would just be buying a name, not a studio and damn sure not their claims to fame. It'd be a boondoggle at that point, just to show the world "we're the cgi juggernaut now haha" or something. Just like with disney Star Wars.

I repeat: Pixar would only be bought in name only. None of the films and IPs made under Disney would go with them (for fuck's sake the rat made copyright laws, they'll jew lawyer their way out of paying anyone what they're owed). They would shove them in the disney vault out of spite.

I also disagree on "Illumination made DreamWorks relevant again" bit. DREAMWORKS made Dreamworks relevant again. Both studios (even including Blue Sky) don't help each other, they're all battling over the mantle of being the animation studio to work for and watch what they make. And with Disney slipping on the edge, it's going to get interesting.

the fuck we blathering about "what ifs" anyhow? There's really NO new animation shit going on?

It seems people who worked on the new Spiderverse movie are accusing Chris and Phil of unprofessional behavior.

In before all entertainment is AI because of people who are or aren't doing things. Can't wait for my pod!
It's for the best, man.
Now everything I watch can end in a giant sex scene like those bizarre Taiwanese fantasy films.

Sidenote: Now Chris can get all the G4 MLP he wants with the bonus of being able to add his self-insert.

Oh, this is a damning quote (bolded sentence my observation):

“They [the three directors Joaquim Dos Santos, Kemp Powers and Justin K. Thompson who have no real movie directorial experiences] are obviously in charge of directing, but if Phil [Lord] has a note that contradicts their note, his note takes precedence,” one of the animators said of the movie’s behind-the-scenes power dynamics. “They have to do what Phil says. So there were constant changes and cuts. With Phil Lord, nothing is ever final or approved. Nothing was really set in stone. Nothing was ever done. Everything was just endlessly moving beneath our feet because they wanted it to be the best that it could be.”

"Waaaaah how dare this man who knows what the fuck he's doing tell us how to make an animated movie look its absolute best! WAAAAAAAAAAH PAY ME!"

Sounds like another "Marvel Studios is terrible to work with due to executives demanding last-minute reshoots" situation where literally no one is communicating with each other, or a case of younger animators getting frustrated at how working conditions as real animators actually plays out. Either way, give actual proof you all were treated like shit like how the Sausage Party animators were, or get the fuck out of animation if you don't want to work hard.
