Western Animation - Discuss American, Canadian, and European cartoons here (or just bitch about wokeshit, I guess)

Cartoon Network released an episode of Tiny Toons Looniversity on their YouTube channel today and...
Hooo boy... we're in for a treat...
I believe the first episode leaked some months back and within the first 5 mins Bugs Bunny comes dressed as a woman (you know the gag he's pulled for years) and the students cheer in a "Yaaaaas slayy bitch" kind of way and I immediately shut off the video.

And this is what ruined animation imho. Creators get too interactive with the audience and now that every animator is on Twitter, you can't just watch the show, you have to keep up with their tweets in hopes of hints or lore secrets. Not to mention how every loreshow likes to build up to to a grand plot twist that goes nowhere and is more focused on outsmarting the audience.
This along with writers just giving up and writing characters that talk to the audience or as if they know their in the show. You see this in live action shows too but it feels like all "adult" shows must have "meta-commentary" where a character has to pause the story and look at the camera and say "uhh minimum wage am i rite???"

I just miss when I could watch media and suspend my disbelief and not be constantly reminded this is a product with bad writers behind it.

The opening showed sweetie lifting a statue literally just called. "The patriarchy." I have no words I'm just gonna let this clip speak for me.

Also good god these voices suck! Why does Hampton sound like butters from South Park? And buster and plucky sound nothing like their originals and buster went through like 5 different vas in the past. If you can't get the original actors or someone who at least tries to sound close to the original then don't bother rebooting at all.

Really this show like the Animaniacs reboot is at best mediocre. It had none of the drive and passion for the Golden age of animation the original did and it doesn't try to harken back to the animation Renaissance of the original tiny toons. If we lived in a non clown world a tiny toons reboot would be a love letter to 90s animation and everything that decade gave us the way the original was an homage to 30s animation. And yes I know big difference between the 30s to 90s and 90s to 2020s.

Sugar....you're 36 and ugly as sin, gtfo tik tok and have some dignity in your life. Nobody is gonna wanna see your old washed up it's pat looking mug on tik tok.

Well in other news chicken run 2 released a new preview.

So let's get the obvious out of the way, is this looking like another "muh gurl power" reboot? Ehhh? I mean remember in the original rocky was an arrogant, cocky and selfish jerk who lied to pretty much everyone and even tried to bail on the chickens the first chance he got. So him being a bumbling git isn't too far off from before. There's also seeing Mrs tweedy back seemingly with no Mr tweedy around running a high tech factory chicken farm/nugget factory. Then again she was already a bit of a bossy bitch in the original. Also ironically while Mr tweedy was a bit of a buffoon in the original, so thick he couldn't put together the pie machine was for making chicken pies, till the mrs yelled it at him. He was ultimately right in the end. He was right about the chickens being smarter than. They looked and right about them planning an escape.

I don't know know about this one, I don't think it's shipping up to be a "woke" reboot despite being direct to Netflix, but it's definitely shaping up to be a pointless reboot ardman only green lit to cash in on nostalgia since they haven't had a hit since...maybe Wallace and grommet curse of the were rabbit.
I was really happy to see Mrs. Tweedy back. They are obviously moving into the 1960s era, so I think they'll play with that by having Mrs. Tweedy go from schoolmarm to Empowered Woman, all just a different tool of power for her to use against the chickens and Mr. Tweedy. I do hope he's in it, though; I'd love if they've gotten divorced or he's relegated to a desk job in the new company somewhere, lol.

I'm honestly kind of torn on this one because they apparently replaced some of the original VAs with Hollywood names, IIRC Ginger's original VA was particularly torn up about it.
I am a bit sad about this, and I noticed her voice was off (especially when Miranda Richardson is SO recognizable as Mrs. Tweedy that I knew it was her before the reveal), but Ginger and Rocky really are the only ones in the original who didn't already sound middle-aged, so the intervening years wouldn't be as noticeable for any of them. She could probably have still nailed it, but it is what it is.

Also so happy to see the Rats back. I'm excited.

They made Plucky sound like an extremely gay man for some reason.
Yeah about that.

Can we have just ONE work of western animation where the characters sexuality is not a concern? We didn't give a shit who the toons were banging back in 90 it'd be great if that wasn't a concern now. But oh no the rainbow Mafia's got the industry by the balls with those fucking equity and inclusion quotas.

Yeah about that.

>"first they complain if they change an already established character, but when they make a new one, they also complain?!"
YES WE'RE COMPLAINING, BECAUSE WE'RE FUCKING SICK OF THIS GODDAMN SHIT. GODDAMN, IT'S A REBOOT OF A 90'S KIDS CARTOON, NOT HBO'S EUPHORIA. CAN YOU PLEASE NOT SHOVE RAINBOW TURDS INTO OUR MOUTHS FOR 5 GODDAMN MINUTES?

Yknow this new Tiny Toons show looks like complete corporate schlock, but if they manage to make a reference (or episode) about that one stalker who (I think?) harassed the show's original producers, then that would be pretty funny I think.

I think there should be an episode about a school shooting, but they're cartoon characters so they're like going up to The Son of Kobold and putting their fingers in the gun and shit to blow him up. It'd be like an Elmer Fudd cartoon for the modern era.
only one small problem with your idea.....

it's actually funny and is in tone with the spirit of the original. go with the original idea about Buster and that raccoon showing their gay pride. icky chud.

Yeah about that.

Tiny Toons did not need to be gay in the first place. Secondly, why is this person using the crying emoji if they can’t understand that people (mainly adults if we’re being honest) do not want this being used as an excuse to tarnish little kid versions of famous Looney Tunes characters?

I know the answer, but I did not expect for this X user to be this obtuse with things like this.
