Western Animation - Discuss American, Canadian, and European cartoons here (or just bitch about wokeshit, I guess)

I wish, were they doing it, it would have been more interesting.
Why are, exactly, most characters plain genderswaps, and like only three specie, as well?
Why not do more, like male Marceline being "opposite" to vampire - a werewolf? - friends in canon being enemies here etc.

More Family Guy style slop incoming:

What Is Zoo P.D.?

There are unfortunately very few details about what to expect from Fox's new animated comedy project, but Deadline's report teases it as such, "Written by Carter, Zoo P.D. follows the police force stationed inside the eighth best zoo in California. In their attempts to handle the unruly customers and improve the park, the show hits upon a hard truth: at the end of the day, we're all just animals." If it's anything like Kaplan Entertainment's HouseBroken, we're likely looking at another animal based series so it should stand out in Fox's animated line up.

Carter is also currently working on a new animated reboot for Married...with Children, but there has yet to be a release date revealed for that project as of the time of this writing. As for Family Guy, Season 22 of the series is now airing on Sunday evenings as part of Fox's Animation Domination block. If you wanted to catch up with all of the currently available episodes of Family Guy, you can find it now streaming with Hulu. They tease Family Guy as such, "The adventures of an endearingly ignorant dad and his hilariously odd family of middle-class New Englanders."

CN doesn’t really exist beyond branding at this point. Pretty sure WB-Discovery went and gutted the studios for it and Adult Swim.
Adult Swim is still more around than CN these days, but yes, even WBD are doing damage control with their divisions, subsidiaries and brandings
This thread gave me autism.

Season 3 of Hilda dropped and I think it's the weakest by far. Still watchable and would say it still ended on a high note (or at least much better than most shows in recent memory).

The creator kinda summed up my thoughts

Not a fan of the ongoing plot format as opposed to the episodic format the prior seasons had.

Also felt like mystery of Hilda's family, her dad, and her being part fairy was kind of pointless. These questions didn't need to be answered and I don't see Hilda or her mom any differently but it was the only thing they could think of for some big high stakes reveal. And to get lorefags to coom I guess.

This season also had the worst episode in the series; the laughing merman. Genuinely awful and doesn't feel like a Hilda episode at all. For whatever reason Hilda cares about not appearing weird to people and they have some random kid be a part of the group for some reason.

That being said I think it retains most of the charm and the fairy related episodes are a great watch.

I thought the season was pretty good overall, but your points seem valid upon reflection. If I had to nitpick, I wasn't too crazy about Hilda's dad not NOT being the bell keeper when it was such an obvious move. He lives close (but not too close), has a faded streak of blue in his hair and doesn't seem too phased by crazy shit. They also made a point of him never interacting with Johanna, which strikes me as them wanting to commit to it but backing out at the last second. Neither him nor Anders existed in the original novels so it's not really a retcon, but I suppose they could've changed their mind when writing the season. It was kind of funny that they had the two characters bump into each other in the ending montage, as if to wink at everyone who made theories.

Still, as you said it held onto its charm regardless of shifting to a new format and ended up being one of the better 2010's shows when all was said and done.

They mention it is like those in the article, so it really is no different. This just begs the question for how it will stand out?
I might have to wait til it does come out. I might sound too optimistic but with a shitty generic artstyle, I'm hoping the show might be decent with writing, humor and characters

It's mostly based on my high expectations. Season 2 was a 10 for me so to see it go from a 10 to 8.5 is disappointing but on it's own is good and still one of the better shows of the 2010's.

I also was hoping for her dad to be the bellkeeper or even someone who actually goes on adventures. I think having Hilda's tendencies to get into trouble and worry her friends/family juxtapose a Dad who is an accomplished explorer despite abandoning his family could have been interesting.

Maybe have Hilda learn that such a life is empty and lonely so she can appreciate what she has and learn to be more aware of their feelings. But nah she just has a deadbeat dad who she never talked about but he's still family guys so you gotta save him. Just a waste.

He's not a bad character and there's enough hinting that you get an idea of his backstory with Johanna, but eh. Expectations lol. Season 2 is definitely the high point of the series I agree.
