Nah 2D-made-3D can look great if put actual effort in it. Guest animator episodes of AT are are a great example of this.
Might just be Butch's designs paired with the garish colours, then.
Just the idea of transitioning 2D to 3D is a challenge. Things can work when given the proper tools. Lego Movie, Peanuts, Angry Birds, Captain Underpants and Spiderverse worked better in CG like they did in hand-drawn

Some weird takeaways include:
- Cosmo kept his annoyingly high voice
- Poof and the dog are nowhere to be seen but the former is mentioned to appear in a later episode
- One of the kids is non-binary which feels so off for a show like this
- This is some kind of continuation? Lots of returning characters mentioned in the writers bible and a character thats very clearly adult Timmy shows up in the episode
