Western Animation - Discuss American, Canadian, and European cartoons here (or just bitch about wokeshit, I guess)

Some additional info on Superman from the /co/ thread I forgot to mention. Yes, the show was made for CN. Apparently CN booted it and Gennedy’s new Unicorn series because “Kids need kid main characters to relate too”. Gennedy’s show will appear at midnight now and Superman will presumably air at AS’s new time of 7pm otherwise, probably 10pm.
If that’s true then Jesus Christ WB executives are the dumbest executives compared to other companies if they believe kids really get that uppity over having child main characters

Kids need kid main characters to relate too”
I remember that when I was watching cartoons about a billionaire leading a double life or one about a monk child trying to put an end to a war all I could think was "Man these cartoons are so unengaging, it would be much more captivating and relatable if it was about non-binary children being quirky ."

In their defense, and I mean this very loosely, Nickelodeon ran off this thought process for 3 decades. Nick made it self the kid’s network, both in terms of content and the main characters. Very few of their shows starred an adult animation or live action.

Given Nick’s status as the most successful, maybe I can see why CN went this route. Even still, they are not Nick, and decisions like this are going to bite them in the ass. WB needs to figure out what makes them unique rather than following Disney or Nick.

I think CN's issue isnt with Supes, it's with louis. Remember that this isnt superman adventures, this is "MY ADVENTURES with superman". The complaint that "Kids need a protagonist they can relate to" sounds a lot more sensical if you assume Nu-Lois is the supposed protagonist and not clark. She might take the most screentime and they'll probably make her super intelligent and useful during fights instead of the usual damsel in distress.

DC has a major issue with Superman, since the last "big" Superman miniseries happened like a decade ago and can't be properly adapted, as its author immediately went insane and got canceled for Hollywood sex shit.

This series is yet another attempt to try and adapt American Alien while making it just different enough that they don't have to credit Max Landis for the setup. Expect a younger, more naive Superman, an Asian Lois, and a black Jimmy.

As much as I want to agree, I doubt this is the case. Remember, Batman & Superman were set to air on CN, and now neither are. There has also been the general past decade of DC content, besides Go, on CN that has been treated like shit.

Does anyone know why (((Hollywood))) hates redheads so much and wants to turn them all into niggers? What the fuck is this shit? Did they just scramble up the letters in "gingers" and get this shit?

The hostility is weird.

It reminds people that Whites were not a monolithic group and that the red heads (Irish, Russians, and other European Ethnic groups) were seen as lesser or not WASPS. It’s a small crack in the narrative.

That’s my schizophrenic theory. The Irish, the ones in America, had a culture and phenotype that existed as distinct and isn’t as tied to the mafia as Italian.
Niggers are effectively just a irreplaceable brown mass to Jews in Hollywood. You make someone Ginger and you eventually have to talk about religion and ethnicity because they could be Catholic or Jewish.

I honestly just skimmed it, but it looks a lot like it hits most the same beats as the finale of Anphibia or whatever it’s called.
I skimmed it too. Now that it's over I have to ask: why the fuck does Amity never completely dye her hair? It's not just her roots showing like at the start, it's whole sections of it undyed. Is she an autist like Luz or trying too hard to be quirky?

I guess they were so creatively bankrupt, that they just resorted to copying another Disney show, like some high schooler copying a Math Assignment from another student...

So what was Owl House exactly? I kept hearing people mentioning it but in the astroturf way that it absolutely does not appear outside of journos (unlike SU memes for example).
Harry Potter level of protagonist importance and Little Witch academia set up but fuckery at the level of He-Man. That’s my take of it.

Owl House is finally over now... any thoughts on the finale?

I haven’t seen the show, yet it being unceremoniously dumped onto YT isn’t a good sign for its profitability.

The finale episodes previous to this one have about 6-8M views each, which sounds great at first until you look at something like Helluva Boss which tends to double the views for way less in production costs. Disney just wanted to burn these off.
