Western Animation - Discuss American, Canadian, and European cartoons here (or just bitch about wokeshit, I guess)

The splash page is speaking to me more than the model sheet. Idk I think it looks cute, kind of Lone Wolf and Cub kind of vibes. Like any show this will hinge on how good of a protagonist she is. Personally I hope her being the avatar isn't the focus, I hope it's her relationship with this older person. And the story is more about how this older person influenced her decisions as Avatar later.
Since I'm assuming she's an earth bender I think the amputee angle is interesting, that's one of the few things in the setting where a disability would actually massively effect her bending, cause earth bending is all about footwork.

I don't have faith in the new team running things with this show, I'm trying to look for positives tho. This show could have a good hook.

Also new Castlevania Nocturne trailer dropped, I'm only linking it so I can complain about it.
I hate Netflix Castlevania so much, not even because it's woke or anime-esque, just because the writing is so terrible and doesn't deserve an IP as good as Castlevania slapped on it.

Turning the second manliest Belmont into fucking Twinker Belmont who cries and runs off from his mother's killer while leaving his remaining family in the danger of said killer, will always be the biggest shitstain on the Belmont Clan ever.

Well that and turning Juste Belmont into TLJ Luke Skywalker.

The faggots making this dumpster fire begging people to watch so Season 3 can happen, is still so fucking hilarious to me.

And where's the castle? The castle is the other main antagonist, it's in the title.

They would rather spend their time on mostly shitting on the Church and being Reddit atheists than bother with the titular castle, but even long before Twinker Belmont and his band of diversity hires this damn show sucked with the castle.

The consistent Alucard nut gargling has always been shit because the Belmonts don't get any damn respect slapped on their name, despite BEING THE PROTAGONISTS.

Fuck Warren Ellis, Sam Deats, and his brother.

The sad thing is Warren Ellis was probably the best writer they could have gotten for a castle vanning series....if this was 1997-2002 Warren Ellis and those years mindset not 2020s Warren Ellis and adult animation mindset.

I admit even back IN 97 when he worked on transmetroplian or the authority in 2000. Ellis had a lot of fatal flaws as a writer the biggest being his hateboner for religion, but he still knew how to tell a hard hitting satirical story.

Transmetopolitan for better or worse is still one of the best comics of the 90s and helped the industry move on from the "big guns, gritty teeth, exaggerated muscles" edge of the early 90s and into the more grounded, down to earth, life sucks and only a select number of people in it aren't complete assholes. Edge of the late 90s.

But those days are LONG over. Now all Ellis cares about is shitting on religion because he thinks people still believing in it are akin to fanatics in robes sacrificing goats for a good harvest. And being as over the top as possible in the hopes of shocking people.

Ex ep 2 of castlevannia: ooooo look bloody crib and a dead baby hanging from a demons mouth aren't we brutal for showing this? You're writing castlevannia not spawn.

Is the dude just angry his parents dragged him to church every Sunday or what? Cuz it's pathetic and immature as hell.

Again Ellis wasn't always like that. Transmetroplian is probably his peak and even then I'm sure it's only as good as it is cause someone in vertigo editorial told him no to some ideas or concepts. Netflix has no such restraint and let an aging reddit atheist who ironically worships technology and believes it is our true path to enlightenment and immortality do whatever he wanted to a series all about faith triumphanting over evil.

The trailer for The Day The Earth Blew Up came out and I admit, it's not a good trailer, it's a stereotypically bad trailer, one of those that's made and edited to pander to the lowest common denominator, but I see insane replies from people in comments and replies on Reddit, Twitter, etc. whining about how OH THIS GETS RELASED AND COYOTE VS ACME DOESNT?!?!? including the "Animation Is Cinema" sorts.

It should go without saying that Reddit-oids are insane.

"And they are just shitting on John Cena's Coyote vs Acme, made by two guys who aren’t cartoonists”

I hate the human race.
"Yeah that's nice but give us MEEM I want MEEM look at me I know MEEM"

A fully traditionally animated movie finally comes out of a modern studio and these retards are still demanding the meme live action hybrid movie that people talked about on twitter for a week.
More actors on greenscreens! More cutting corners!
It hate that it used to be hard to make these kinds of movies and now they're basically the norm over fully animated ones.

I feel that these people don't really care about animation as a medium. They care more about having those live-action hybrids with recognizable stars.

Found this smooth clip from ye olde Simpsons. Some Enchanted Evening, last episode of the first season. While it was the first episode produced for season one and meant to air as the series premiere, animation problems pushed it back to the season finale. Apparently, this is the only instance of smooth animation in the whole episode.

Ellis has such a particular brand of hatred for religion that - when I finally poked my nose into Transmetropolitan last year - I instantly guessed he was the brains behind the script of the game Antaeus Rising: Hostile Waters (2002).

It's about religious fanatics and capitalists using nukes and homegrown 'aliens' to try and destroy utopia and reintroduce a market-based economy. Only for their own creation to usurp them and begin terraforming the planet. Ya gotta kill 'em all with your fancy nano-bot powered carrier raised from the depths of the ocean. Well written, fun game, easily wow'd my young soft brain at the time. Absolutely soaked to the bone in globalist fantasy and pure contempt for Fundies.

I have, and I thought Adult Swim shows were supposed to be funny and entertaining, not preachy and pretentious. For those of you that haven’t heard of it Here is the trailer
If they're gonna bring back more serious "dark" or riskier shows give the fans what they really want... the rest of Moral Orel S3 and then the planned season 4 and 5. The rest of Venture Bros, The Shivering Truth, Xavier Renegade Angel, fucking Space Ghost, The Oblongs, MISSION HILL, HOME MOVIES, GIVE US THE REAL ADULT SWIM and make successors to the Big hits and maybe your network won't be such a fucking graveyard. Maybe try not to treat creators like shit them sabotage thet works (MDE World Peace, Billy & Mandy, Sym-Bionic Titan, Venture Bros, everything you can think of). Give more actual avant garde shows even if they bomb and take the risks especially now in the year of our lord 2024. It would be better than the CalArts horse shit slop thats been around for a decade. Holy shit. 12 .oz mouse got a continuation and not the shows that actually were worthy of it. Lets not even get into the one-off show pitches that they mistakenly shrugged off. Adult Swim and Cartoon Network are a true graveyard of IPs to sit on and do nothing with.
I am convinced children can handle properties and networks better than this. If there were one thing I would do to bring Western Animation to a renaissance it would be trying to do a sort of Fred Rogers and secure a foundation for good animation so people can actually enjoy things more without dealing with bullshit shows that serve as nothing but noise. Of course, that is not feasible. So instead a battle against copyright laws is better.

MISSION HILL
Please no, after the clusterfuck of Clone High season 2 & 3 I have 0 faith in millennial writers' abilities to actually make anything fucking worthwhile to watch.
My heart can't handle seeing a gay couple like Wally become pozzed and negholed with current year faggotry back when times were a lot more innocent and less gender politisperging.

You don't understand though, I don't mean let them be rebooted. Literally continued either by the creators or by better equipped people who can actually write and get the vibe right which is a pipe dream. The creator(s) of Mission Hill still show it at some places apparently in 4k or whatever. I literally want to create what do you call it... ah yes. Closure for unfinished series. Something for people who like the shows. The idea is to remove all of the modern cancer not spread it. The idea is to restore glory to animation and keep it out of the hands of suits or creators who sold your favorite media's soul for profit. It will be YOURS ideally if we ever abolished copyright or neutered it. This does come at the cost of pozzed tards making their own shit but so what? This would allow us to revive our own beloved series. I can continue The Maxx season 2 that was announced but went nowhere (quietly cancelled) on MTV. Western Animation would thrive without the middlemen now that we have the internet. Of course it isn't meant to be.
