Western Animation - Discuss American, Canadian, and European cartoons here (or just bitch about wokeshit, I guess)

At least it's not in a furfaggot or bean mouth style. I'm glad it leans more towards the Prince of Egypt/dreamworks 2d artstyle.
Cautiously optimistic. I hope the only worst thing that could happen to it that it's just boring.

What's with the notable Christian inspired media coming out? Not complaining just curious. Also the soyfacing fags going OMG JESUS IS ACKTUALLY LE BROWN!!1! is funny, can't wait for the "oh my science, le biblical accurate angels!!!!!"
I really hate redditers so much holy crap.

The way the Christian stuff coming out is so incredibly opposite to the industry standard animation lately is just fantastic.

1,000 pages of blathering about animation. Feels good man.:drink:

New KOTH trailer, seems ok so far, and the Uber scene with Hank feels very "Hank", like, of course he's gunna fuck the guys rating thinking he's helping him.
The animation is reminiscent of the final seasons but the writing spirit seems to still be there, which is what ultimately matters. Bobby's voice still sounds like his balls haven't dropped which makes me wonder if he also has narrow male problems like his father.

I feel obligated to share this newest Christian movie coming out soon.

I'm feeling... optimistic?
I am too. There will be a fine line to walk between kid friendly and hard biblical truth but the heads of this seem to thump the bible enough to pull it off. I'm certainly interested.

They are veterans of Dreamworks?
There might be some in smaller roles but if you read the project leads, the Bancroft brothers are Disney veterans (animating Pumba from Lion King ad Mushu from Mulan famously).

I hope this is a soft hit for them since the Bancrofts have been adding their skills to many small projects only to go unnoticed. Most notably and sadly, their great work on one of the last interactive film games on record called "The Act".
you can only watch it now. the company closed and the game is off the app store.

There's only so much trend-chasing sensory overload you can take before the wholesome and traditional seem appealing. And the wheel in the sky keeps on turning.

I'd guess the flood of completely insufferable incompetently executed amoral wokeshit has left a vacuum that something representing actual values competently done has an opportunity to fill.
And funny enough it's the Christian/Bible themes and inspirations coming back to counter the faggoty overuse of the devil and demon iconography. Something something like poetry.

Reynolds is becoming like Seth Rogan and Kevin Smith when it comes to the strange and stupid choices in the projects he produces. And I fucking hate it.

Paramount is co-producing this along with a "Mighty Mouse" film seemingly in production hell also co-produced by Reynolds. (and he's catholic! talk about yin and yang)

I've been posting animation milestones previously. First it was fantasmagoria said to be the world's first animation ever made in 1908. Then it was the first ever stop motion animated short, then the first ever computer animation. So I don't have any firsts to post to mark the occasion but I will share a historic landmark in animation. The 1914 short film gertie the dinosaur by legendary creator of little nemo Windsor mccay. When Mccay was alive he'd actually perform the routine on stage with a live organist or band. The filmed scenes where added in later thought there's still no music it was always meant to accompany live music even if Mccay himself couldn't be present to perform the routine with "gertie" on stage.

Happy 1000 pages of sperging about moving drawings past and present. As someone who has become fascinated with the medium years ago, its painful to see that the mainstream industry has devolved into nothing but IP cashgrabs, low budget Calarts slop, and Hollywood actor vanity projects (Seth Rogan, Adi Shankar, etc.), and it would seem that the future is Grim. But I think that might be changing in the next few years. While I'm no fan of Vivziepop's work like Hazbin hotel, I can really appreciate how she unintentionally opened the door for an Indie Cartoon Revolution. With newer tools becoming available that makes the Process of making *GOOD* cartoons becoming cheaper as well as new ways to distribute the medium outside of TV, I think more people -Including users on this site- have the opportunity to come from outside the extremely Cliquish Animation industry and shake things up. That's my Silver Lining I found out of all this.

Really the only good place left to discuss animation tbh.
Perhaps because this thread is more pessimistic and critical of Animation and the industry itself than other places, but also because it is really hard to talk about the industry anywhere else that isn't a complete circlejerk. 4Cuck's /co/ has been a cesspit for over a decade and is a perfect example.

Gertie is such a sweetie (and a little shit,) I love how she dances the whole video through. Throwing Jumbo in the lake then drinking the whole lake was unexpected, but I suppose if you eat rocks and entire trees you need something equally insane to wash it down with lol

My favorite of McCay's were Rarebit Fiend comics. Some of those were animated too.

My favorites were the cartoons. He drew very meticulously. This is why he is renowned as a cartoonist to this day.
This involves a creature that is a cross between a kaiju and katamari damacy before they even existed.

This is a short-form cartoon that he was better at. This isn't the darkest of Rarebit Fiend cartoons, but it is definitely one of the best.

Nah, it sounds like they tried to make bobby sound deeper, but i don't think the Voice Actress could hack it. Can't be helped i suppose.

Honestly I think they kept Bobby's voice for the sake of consistency, it would just sound weird if Bobby sounded like anyone else.

It's like how in Japan, Goku is voiced by the same woman for decades even as he grows up.

True there. Bobby gets that distinction unlike Joseph who went from a child voice to a teen one in the original series.

I thought she could for Vampire Hunter D, maybe that was her more natural voice.

Well, not every woman who plays a boy can deepen it convincingly. It is what it is.
