Oh god, that thing. I thought it was out for a while. Why does one of the characters wear shoes? Is that a lame Sanic joke?
Surprisingly it's a LOT tamer than human resources and especially big mouth was. The plots are run of the mill, "we're all in our 30s but still don't have our lives together " therapy sessions disguised as a western cartoon, but there's no full on nudity, there's barley any swearing, and aside the momments in the marketing theres not all that much shock/ fetish fodder as youd think. Minf you that doesnt excuse it from being trash. If it didn't have the baggage of trying to ride on what little fan base big mouth and resources had left before they got the ax.

It'd probably be at best a ripoff of a zootopia and beastars while fishing for sympathy by trying to rip off the relationship drama of bojack horseman, while failing to remember bojack got less comedic as it went on not more.

Babe, wake up! Another indie cartoon pilot just dropped!

I found it surprisingly hilarious. It's good to see FreedomToons trying to do something different from his usual short political animations. I personally found those pretty hit-or-miss.
There are enough good bits in it to call it entertaining.

Like the Whiskey Coffee getting shuffled around, the joke about the prison gangs being warped by the clone army.

Ted Turner started the channel after acquiring the rights to decades worth of old toons. Hanna-Barbera initially worked on Dexter, Johnny Bravo and PPG before pretty much getting liquidated into general Warner and I guess CN?
Okay, so Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy does have HB rights.

While working on the first season of Cow and Chicken, Atoms was approached by Hanna-Barbera executives for ideas for new short films. Among the ideas he presented to Hanna-Barbera was "Milkman", centering on an anthropomorphic, superhero milk carton who saves the missing children depicted on his back. Though the idea was rejected, executives were interested in Billy and Mandy, two characters that were to be featured in the project.

That explains a lot.

Oh, and Maxwell Atoms has Asperger's. That also explains its humor and shock value.

I keep finding out Genndy has been quietly busy making more cartoons.

Idk I guess I saw Unicorn in the title and just immediately threw it into a memoryhole. Never been a fan of the steampunk asthetic, and so far it's by the numbers (+ the mandatory negros), but it's still fun to look at; and at least with Gen you don't automatically know who's good and evil based on how pale they are. Go ahead and throw me some alarm clocks if I'm the last to the party on this one.

Sadly, Unicorn EW bombed and was forgotten about.
I mean...it was a pile of incoherent not very nice to look at garbage. I saw it from beginning to end and genuinely don't know what there is to sad about it bombing and being forgotten. That's the fate it deserved.

Hell, I am pretty sure its better for Gendy's career that everyone forgot this thing came out considering how badly put together it is.

at least it wasn't Popeye
Popeye's script needed retweaking, but Amy Pascal wasn't having it. You can tell in places of that animatic Genndy had planned to work with one of his favorite cartoon characters/inspirations for a long time, he just wasn't allowed to realize it. That teaser is a miracle all on its own, if only the whole movie could've been like that.

I don't know if this has been discussed yet, I don't care, I'm saying my piece anyway.

The Angry Birds movie is regaining new popularity for being based, due to a series of ironic coincidences. For example, the pigs resemble Islam because they're green, have shitty beards without a mustache, are invasive, pretend to be friendly and are secretly conniving against the native bird population. The native bird population are liberals who are conflict-allergic due to their island tameness, to the point they even lost the ability to fly. Red is the only bird who has an active prejudice toward the pigs and turns out to be right about them in the end, so he represents a xenophobic conservative Republican.

This is all well, good and hilariously ironic. However, I have arrived at a crossroads.

This right winger video discussing the matter is extremely fucking cringe. They talk about jokes, plot points and themes within the movie in terms of subversion (jokes), state enforced faggotry (anger management classes), muh whamen in positions of power (a female therapist), anti-masculinity (Red's anger issues), on and on they go. They even compare anger management to HRT. I'm not fucking kidding.

They even compare the pigs' island to Little Saint James. This couldn't be more embarrassing if they were actively trying to be.

I would go into detail about the parts where they're wrong but that's beside the point, the point is this:

This review is exactly how a Marxist would see a movie, as either for or against muh ideology.

It's incredibly gay.

>no you
haha, you have failed

anyway, i doubt this video is mean to be taken completely seriously, they edited in oy goy (or was it vey?) signs in for fuck's sake
same could be said about the movie, which for some reason decided to have that immigration plot line instead of being a joke movie about the game rather than based on it (come on, you have to admit that is suspect even if it can be interpreted as retardation on the writers' part)

entertaining to listen to as i do other things

The sad thing is while it may be reminiscent of Marxist thinking, Marxists politicizing everything and using it as a bludgeon has given ground for people opposing them to do the same. "Imagine the outrage if the roles were reversed," is long dead at this point.

that's as much as i'm willing to type about the subject because this really isn't worth thinking that much about
