Game has the weirdest coalescence of retarded adhd zoomers and grooming trannies merged together as a fanbase. Even encountered separately they suck, but as a whole they reach brand new levels of awfulness rarely seen anywhere else. It's extraordinarily fucked up and I don't know how it even happened.

There's more than enough to keep Mega Man autists busy. The one concession I'll make them is that no one has made a decent Battle Network clone yet, otherwise it's just time to move on.

I don't get it either. Thing is, I can tell Call of Duty, Blood Dragon, and Halo apart at a glance. The NES Megaman games all look the same to me. If the argument against FPSs is they're the same game and people are suckered in to paying £40 (the price of a game then) for a map pack, then what does that say about Megaman?

The official license thing also bothers me. I guess they were burned by Mighty Number 9? Does Megaman have a ROM hacking scene? Seems like a good way to get a Megaman fix if Capcom won't.

From my limited experience, F-Zero.

I'm not even going to say F-Zero GX, I'm just going to say "F-Zero" in general because the vast majority of people who claim they want a new F-Zero game don't actually want an F-Zero game, they just want some shit with Captain Falcon in it.

I'm pretty sure actual F-Zero GX fans understand that a new game wouldn't be anything that they want as GX was developed by Sega and was very much a game of it's time. They're content with just speedrunning tracks in GX over and over. (I could be wrong though, I've not done a deep dive or anything)

But yeah, you'll occasionally get some people claiming F-Zero *needs* a new game and it would totally be the best game ever. And when you point out that Nintendo has pretty much laid it out that they have no intention of making it when they have Mario Kart, and that they shopped the IP around and nobody wanted to make it, and then you point out that Fast RMX is *right there* and they just kind of sigh and go "Well, it doesn't have the F-Zero characters tho!" (as if F-Zero ever had anything other than a basic fucking lore behind it) you know they never actually gave a shit about F-Zero and just fucking played Smash Brothers.

Plenty of fangames and romhacks exist and are just as if not even somewhat better than the official games(Megaman X8 Demake, megaman unlimited) so I don't think there needs to be any other games except ones to wrap up loose ends

I also never really interacted with the community so I can't speak much but the glimpses i've seen they very much suffer from banjo syndrome of refusing to move on but I'll give them some tiny credit at least megaman fans make their own shit instead of begging other people to do it like banjofags do

Sim racing but more specifically iRacing is really bad since it mainly consists of autists that would care/put in the money for it's insane pricing, (iRacing is a monthly service fee game and all the tracks and cars are sold individually as DLC) but you have people that instead of treating it like a simulation of racing like it's supposed to be, instead treat it like fighting games or any other competitive online gaming with cars, like exploiting bugs in the physics and taking unrealistic racing lines on a track same with setups, as well as just taking it way too seriously. This is just the tip of the iceberg. They ban anyone being really toxic in Discord for example, except one guy that White Knights the 10/10 women that play the game that also happen to be mods/GMs.

I'd love a new F-Zero. A real one. GX is one of my all time favourite games. I've not played Fast RMX, but I want to. That said, I did play the other GX spiritual successor Redline, and it was awful. Lacking any sense of personality and having floaty handling.

I think what's frustrating about Nintendo's attitude towards F-Zero is their excuses for not making another one are bullshit. They dabbled in things like a story mode before that was mainstream. Their inability to bolt gimmicks onto it should be a strength, not a weakness. And lack of original ideas doesn't stop them farting out Mario and Zelda games every few years.

I remember watching the rise of Persona in mainstream gaming. It was a niche Japanese series only known to fans of obscure JRPGs, and P3 was very mildly controversial for having kids shoot themselves in the head to summon demons.

Then the Giant Bomb Endurance Run happened. Basically what we would call a blind let's play. It was a classic and still hilarious. It's hard to show clips because many of the jokes are slow burns. Even "best of" compilations are 6 hours long.

By the time Persona 5 came along, the fanbase was doomed. As seems to be a common theme in this thread, I get the impression that most of that fanbase hasn't really played the games and just know the (admittedly great) endurance run.

As a fan who played P2 when it came out, I was genuinely shocked when the announcement for P3 came out and I was bummed because it seemed to have nothing to do with the old games. At that point, Atlus had released Nocturne and DDS and I was a full on Atlus-stan so I gave it a chance.

The story wasn't bad, there were a few winks to P2, it had a good soundtrack by Meguro...my only complaint was the combat, which was fixed in P4 when you could control your full party.

The fact that no one raised a stink during the Jack Thompson era is astounding.

And then Fes came out and the Persona milking began.

Glad to hear you're playing SH4 though, I think a lot of people were turned off because the opening levels are pretty difficult compared to the rest of the game - They certainly got the pacing wrong a bit, but it's a good one nonetheless.
