What Are The Worst Character Designs You Have Ever Seen?

Atelier Ryza. Gotta cooom!

View attachment 6351584

I know Iris from Atelier Iris 3 was sexy and Nell was a big booby blonde bimbo. But those shorts look painful. I bet Ryza was designed this way to capitalize on Super Sonico coomers. Well whatever it was it worked. But the yeast infection shorts and the chubby thighs being squeezed by boots and random straps just looks so uncomfortable and weird.
I like this series so I'll autism a little: The pics you posted don't even show off how the sides of the shorts are barely held together like she has to sew herself into them every day. I don't think having attractive characters is necessarily bad, they aren't creating porn addiction, but Ryza got turned into so much porn and it attracted a slew of bottom of the barrel retards to the series. Ryza wasn't even intended to be the protagonist of every game in the Secret trilogy, they just did it to secure some $$$ since the trilogy before (Mysterious) didn't perform well. Which is Also why they made a 4th Arland game and when they made a 4th Mysterious game they used Sophie for the protag.

The entire Atelier series has plenty of shitty overdesigned characters, I've posted Lydie from Lydie and Suelle here before.
Ryza isn't even the biggest coombait in her trilogy, Lila is. Total coomer death, reactions to the newest game's trailer include a lot of retards complaining the protagonist isn't sexy enough. Here's Lila.

You should see the Racing Miku design the Ryza artist made. It's literally Ryza, with overly chunky thighs about to explode from the squeezing and clothes too small and everything but with blueish hair and pigtails.

I can say with full confidence that arena hero shooter Concord has the ugliest character designs I have seen in any video game.

I love that on Youtube there are a lot of industry veterans creating redesigns of the Concord cast and creating lecture level breakdowns as to why these designs are such a failure. These videos are effective seminars that inform about color theory, tonal balance and visual communication. Concord is going to live on as an example in art schools as what not to do for future character designers.

"OK class. for today's assignment: pick one of these failed design and fix it. Write a summary of why the original design failed and how your redesign is better"

Atlas Reactor was a cool game, but boy were some of the characters uuuuuuuuuugleh.

What the fuck is going on with this one? That ridiculous pompadour/zoomer hair looks like it's made of plastic. What is that bright orange outfit holy dhit.

1726491228183.png
Another color offender. Wouldn't be that bad if the colors were ok. It also has a bright cape.

1726491343334.png

The spaceball helmet looks silly, but it kinda worked cause in some animations she adjusted it and it fell over her eyes etc. but zebra stripes? And that abs tattoo. Holy shit.
1726491435408.png

This one fits really well in a cyberpunk dystopian universe. Coomerbait animeshit.

Colors aside, its just bad. The forehead crystal looks stupid, and the gadgets on her bubble look atrocious. Having completely separate color on the character and the device is visually appealing. Why have ONE color sceme when you can have TWO!?

Don't try to argue, the anime haters just want to complain about waifus.
>I like Atelier games etc etc etc
>Goddamn anime haters just hate waifus
Yeah, sure. I wouldn't even have thought @wtfNeedSignUp was arguing, just disagreeing and I wasn't gonna reply because I see no point. Then you pretend I'm just an anime hater? You're not good at writing fanfiction, too ooc.

That's not how boobs work. I'm seeing so many boobs like this. Puzzle & Dragons is full of boobs like this. I wish the artists would learn how cleavage is supposed to look. It's just so weird seeing them squashed like that. It would really hurt. I can feel phantom pains just looking at them.

I liked Lila though. Having atrociously large bust size is getting rarer and rarer in games, and she's a cool ninja elf.

It's certainly way better than those monstrosities from Concord. Or any other woke game full of fat vitiligo genderblobs.

Amalia from Unicorn Overlord

The reticulated plate leotard, the leather hip saddle thing, the jacket that turns into a capelet around the shoulders. It's a really bad design from a studio with an otherwise great track record. I don't really care about it lacking realism, because I could probably post a lot of characters if that was the case. Her armor just looks terrible.

Lee's default look in Tekken 8. Ergh...
What more can I comment about, in regards to how crap that outfit is...? Alright: he looks like he's shooting a K-Pop music video... at 49.

@Clorox Cowboy Yeah, exactly, it lacks flamboyance. You stated what I was thinking along the lines of. Cheers. And Jin does look badass, as does his father. Kazuya's suit in 8, is his best looking suit.

Shame because it also doesn't have any of the flamboyance Lee should have it looks like a completely different character. But I guess it's a trade-off for the best Jin design in years.

I get that they are trying to be hot whenever I see designs like this pop up in things like Fire Emblem but I wonder, are people even into it? Sure feels like people still find other designs more appealing.
You can go coomer mode with other characters, just let me have my ladyknights. A couple of the girls from the Tellius games and Jade from Engage are the only "proper" ones I can think of among FE. The armor isn't super realistic but it gets the point across well enough:

I just found this abomination on Deviant Art. Is that cheating? Yes, it is. The character was still made for the design's sake and not the sake of the fetishes incorporated into the design.
That might be worse though, because fetish characters exist to be seen, and this monstrosity was clearly made to be drawn, to punish contractors for their listed fees by wasting their time to their best degree. There is no other explanation of anything going on this design, I can not imagine any universe or character that fits around it. It is not a purposeful design, it is a burst of visual static that was made to follow the rules of the human form.

I don't dislike Amalia but she looks very generic "I'd hit it at the cost of my pelvis" design. Like they had the full armor and they removed it at the one place they wanted the viewer to focus on. In general, Unicorn Overlord had a lot mellower designs than usual for the company, which is a shame.

Now if we're speaking female warriors, I'd go Peter Griffin on a sinking ship with how I never cared for the Dragon Quest female warrior design, with the "new" redesign removing the few pros the original design had

The original design felt more like a parody of bikini armor and felt unbalanced with heavy armor pieces just put randomly without a connection, the new one removes the fanservicy parts to make it bland and still unbalanced.

Bruh, how can you not say anything about the Queen and her high-heeled riding greaves?
the fuck are these BOOTS.png
I just don't understand. what is the goddamned purpose of those

You are right but i honestly think that it is a change for the better since, while designs like the sorceress or the amazon are a dying breed, i also think they are too extreme to a point where they become more funny or dumb than sexy, while the UO designs managed to strike a balance between being hot but not absurd most of the time (Amalia i believe to be the exception)

It still could have a notch of being larger than life, even though I understand why they did it since they couldn't stray too much in the models.

Heels used to be a thing to help boots grip stirrups, but those seem a little much
Those are more than a little much. I don't think I've ever seen any proper set of riding boots with skank-grade stiletto heels.
And she's not even a cavalry class! Gryphon Knights and Wyvern Knights don't have "fuck me" boots, theirs make something resembling sense! Why does an infantry-only unit have goddamned spurs on?!

Personal observation, but I think the one thing that pushes Amalia's design into silly is the exposed thighs. Bit of a nitpick, sure, but she's wearing a small sedan's worth of metal already and is supposed to be a stupidly heavy frontline unit, right? Even an armored skirt integrated into the cuirass like a legionnaire's armor would have worked, but for some reason it's like UO's characters have a lot of half-assed armor placement that leaves some fairly large gaps. Lots of full greaves and gauntlets up to the elbow or even the shoulder, then the upper arm or upper thigh is exposed with maybe a tunic under it? Then you have the odd instance of old, almost-proper armor, like the villain having a potbellied breastplate.
I don't dislike the designs in the game, but sometimes they baffle me.
