What Are The Worst Character Designs You Have Ever Seen?

looks like klapsy-kupso or whoever it was that did all that ugly shit in the 90s
It’s the way the cartoon is drawn. It made me think of Bob’s Burgers when I first saw it.

The strip gets a lot of criticism for not being funny. But I think the humor is more niche than anything. The creators of the strip are from Denmark, and understandably a lot of Americans wouldn’t find it funny.

Why do these designs remind me of early-2000s short-lived MTV show 3South?
It doesn’t look like that to me. But the cartoon Bordertown does, which makes sense because both shows are created by the same person.

Shows made for the pre-school demographic routinely have awful character designs, you do eventually get used to it, but even then there's a few that take the cake.

(This one gets double-awful points for being about a kid who needs to piss constantly. My three-year-old loves it, and I'm a bit concerned.)

(To add to the annoyance of the garish design, Lola's voice is nails-on-chalkboard)

(Shimmer and Shine was at least bearable when it took place in the normal human world, then they moved to this technicolour nightmare genie world where everyone has dangerhair.)
Dirtgirlworld looks like my sleep paralysis demon. The face of hell. I kid you not it's so hard to look at because it's extremely uncanny. I often wonder If I was fucking high when seeing these things. I fear I might get nightmares over this. How it can outperform the most disgusting of Hentai just blows my mind.

I don't know, I think they're pretty charming in homely way. Honestly not horrendous.

Atelier Ryza. Gotta cooom!

I know Iris from Atelier Iris 3 was sexy and Nell was a big booby blonde bimbo. But those shorts look painful. I bet Ryza was designed this way to capitalize on Super Sonico coomers. Well whatever it was it worked. But the yeast infection shorts and the chubby thighs being squeezed by boots and random straps just looks so uncomfortable and weird.

I still think that it looks sloppy.

I did research on the WuMo strip and while it is like the Far Side as each strip has one-time characters, there is a regular occurring character named Dolph. Dolph is an anthropomorphic hippo who is politically incorrect and violent and uses a baseball bat as a weapon of choice. Dolph also appears off-strip as a large puppet, on a TV show called Dolph and Wulff. Here’s a clip from the show:
WuMo also created a children’s movie called Monty and the Street Party, about a boy attempting to get his divorced parents back together:
