Just way too many things going on and too many details for the sake of having details. Too many sharp angles and just doesn't flow well at all. I've probably seen worse but that's one off the top of my head.

One thing I really dislike about modern anime style designs are the arm warmers/completely detached sleeves.

It's so overused, a cheap shortcut to make an outfit sexier without putting any real effort into the design.

The worst part is that it gets inconsistent with each passing season - or better yet, depending on the storyboards, in each episode. Then again, what did you expect from SJWs / diversity hires from Tumblr/DeviantArt, m8?

Steven Universe designs (and SU in general) are very hit and miss for me. Some designs I really like (Garnet, the Diamonds, Rose, Jasper and Malachite and some others), while most are better left unmentioned (Bismuth, Topaz, Aquamarine, and Smokey Quartz just to name a few).
Back to bad character designs, I really don’t like how Venom looked in the 90s cartoon.

Particularly with the lighting. I’d be fine if it were just blue, but him always being half red half blue is just really distracting. And I don’t like how it looks like he has pupils, though that’s just a nitpick.

God, even beyond the usual problems with this horrible CalArts look, Steven Universe is still the ugliest cartoon I've ever seen, and that even includes intentionally hideous shows like Duck Man.

Honestly? Any design that involves a female animal character having been sexualized with the addition of breasts and feminine curves (Krystal, Tawna, Rouge, etc.). It’s pretty disturbing to look at, plus standard women designs are much better.

I don't mind curves as much as I find the need for breasts on non-human characters to be pretty overexcessive.
