Leon looks like the greasy gay porn star version of the original character.I didn't mind the first few live action Resident Evil movies (the first 2 anyway), but when they decided to introduce some of the video games main characters, I really disliked their versions of Chris and Leon, both design wise and their personalities:
Where are his famed boulder shoving muscles?
At least they got Barry kind of alright, which isn't that much of an achievement:

Well, it looks like any American cartoon crap, now being shoveled out as a last ditch effort from a fading platform that can't even provide good streaming quality.
Look at our totally original OC anime guys its based on my DeviantArt webcomic that I only drew seven pages a year for before putting it on indefinite hiatus back in 2014 and it's inspired by classic anime like Steven Universe.
So what do the characters for this venture look li-
Well, it looks like any American cartoon crap, now being shoveled out as a last ditch effort from a fading platform that can't even provide good streaming quality.

Suite is certainly not my favorite season for designs, but I'd hardly call it the worst. Though I can agree that Melody is the worst of the Suite bunch.
I'm always up for critiquing Pretty Cure designs. My dark passion. So here goes. Under spoilers since not everyone cares for magical girl sperging.
Futari Wa was a good start for Pretty Cure. The designs of Black and White were distinctive while being consistent with each other, interesting without being too busy, and kept to a limited palette.
Max Heart made very few changes to the designs, and nothing changed was detrimental. It didn't add much, but didn't make it bad. And Luminous isn't a design I'd write home about, but she's fine. Futari Wa remains some of the better PreCure designs.
After Futari Wa came Splash Star. And oh boy was it a downgrade. Egret doesn't look too bad, mostly she just looks like a more cluttered version of White. Bloom however, is an eyesore. Fuchsia and maroon harkens back to Black's design, but now there's this pastel green and neon yellow, on top of her ginger hair, it's just too much.
But these are still better than...
Bright and Windy. Windy could probably be worse, but the colors are unnecessary, and again there's just too much going on. But at least she doesn't hurt to look at. Bright however, looks like vomit. The yellow and green have taken over, but there's still fuchsia and maroon for some reason. He whole outfit somehow got more cluttered than before. Her shoes are now orange for some reason. It's awful. Bright might be the worst PreCure design to this day.
We're going into pretty cure territory?
I'm gonna state that Suite probably has some of the better designs in Pretty cure. Melody just has a lot of pink but only because most of the lead cures are pink. They probably had to compensate somewhere with Rhythm who has more of a white motif.
I will agree however that the splash star outfits are terrible. The gaudiness of Bright and Windy didn't bother me much as a kid, but as someone who is interested in design it just hurts to look at now. What made the Futari Wa (Original) and Max Heart work is that they added on some needed flair to some bland designs. Splash star takes everything gaudy about the original outfits and cranks it up to 11.
Some example of good design is from Heartcatch and Yes 5 go go.
Simple streamlined designs for their time. For the top, the director of the season apparently worked on Shonen anime before Heartcatch and it shows. The characters have that look with very simple, but cute designs. They have good choice for the color palette and they all feel different without coming off as samey. It has a clear flower inspired look, but it doesn't feel overly complicated (not saying I don't like those designs, but too much is not a good. Thing. With Yes 5 Gogo It's the same thing, only with a butterfly motif minus the last character. Each of the characters have the same look, but it doesn't feel too samey.
That can not be said for the original Yes 5 team:
I didn't make the markings on these ( it was the only image with all of them I could find easily) but yuck. They look super outdated. I want to cut them some slack considering this was their first team of 5 cures, but it really looks bad. All the characters have their own colors, but that's completely mitigated by the overwhelming abundance of white and a that god-awful yellow tint. It's probably harder to see here, but every character has an awful yellow tint to their design. Why the designer though this looks good I have no idea.
I feel that each character has some sort of awfulness to their design, but I feel cure Mint (the green one) got the worst of it. Not just an ugly hairstyle, but having so much of a mix-matching of green that it looks off-putting.

I don't hate the Smile designs. They just look alright to me. When I first say them when they came out I absolutely hated them because of the outlandish hair and the fact they looked like a rip-off of the Yes 5 gogo designs. But honestly they don't suck now that I look at them years later. The hair still looks like garbage though.
Really when it comes to Moe it's hit or miss for me. I get the appeal, but in Smile's case at least they don't look like blobs.
That can't be said for K-on:
I don't hate the show, but the design is trash. Every girl looks like a template put in a machine. It's like they didn't even try. People complain about Idolmaster being Moe garbage, but I get what they're trying to go for at least. I can't understand that here. It's just super lazy. It may not be a big eye-sore, but compared to other anime, it's such a downgrade in quality.

I didn't make myself clear. Smile came after and I know Suite was changed during the production but there was plans afterwards for something more light-hearted from what I heard about. Smile was most likely the result of this.
Since I'm still on a magical girl sperging. Let's talk about an obscure magical girl anime Wedding Peach. It's basically an anime about weddings and magical girls. It's as dumb as it sounds. The design is also garbage.
Remember how cool and cute the Sailor moon outfits looked like? Imagine that, but worse. Not only do they have a terrible color scheme, but nothing about the outfit fucking works. What's with the things bangle? And the lazily done hair? At least in Sailor Moon's defense the character design is really appealing. And even when the girls aren't transformed they still keep that appeal. This just looks like garbage to me.
They also have a dress form. Still doesn't look as good, but not as bad as what I saw above.

They look really fucking bad. Especially considering that Sailor Moon (what it ripped off) came out three years before. How does your predecessor have better designs than something that came out 3 years later?
Edit: Forgot to mention this manga uses an abundance of those "uwu" soft highlights that take up half of the page. It's really annoying.
Sailor Moon came out in 1991. This came out in 1994
